Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Biscuit’s Psychological Shock

Chapter 22: Biscuit's Psychological Shock

Haze and Hisoka had entered the world of Nen at almost the same time.

And yet, in just over half a month, Hisoka had already developed a Nen ability perfectly suited to him.

So how could Haze—whose understanding of Nen was even greater than Hisoka's—be slower in developing his own ability?

When he first became a Nen user, details about his development and training appeared directly on his system panel...

However, on one hand, he needed to lay a solid foundation. On the other, he also had to train his body and continue practicing traditional Chinese martial arts.

Most importantly, developing a Nen ability was no simple matter—it was, in fact, an enormous undertaking.

Nen is a person's trump card—

their ultimate weapon.

It determines a Nen user's upper limit.

Whether Haze could become the most powerful being in the world would depend entirely on the development of his Nen. He couldn't afford even a single misstep.

Throughout the Hunter world, most characters' abilities are relatively pure—easy to understand at a glance.

Kurapika's chains, Shizuku's vacuum fish, Kite's clown—each person's Nen ability focuses on function and perfect combat synergy.

The more complex or vast a Nen ability is, the harder it is to control.

Sometimes... complexity isn't strength.

Simplicity and clarity can be the greatest weapons.

But Haze was a transmigrator.

He had his own advantages—and he understood them.

To stand at the very summit of this world, he didn't plan to rely solely on diligent training.

He would push his Nen ability to its absolute limits.

Among all Hunters, the one who had developed his Nen to the highest degree was Netero—

The Hundred-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva.

That technique required an unimaginable amount of aura to sustain.

Thanks to his own physical gifts, Haze could emulate that level of mastery, expanding his manifested abilities and incorporating complex configurations.

Of course, the larger and more complex an ability is, the more aura it consumes—and the more mental computation it demands.

That was the disadvantage.

The advantage, however, was the limitless ceiling it offered.

Haze's ambitions had been clear from the moment he arrived in this world.

He was a Hunter—

and the heights he wished to reach, the sights he wanted to see, were places no one had ever touched before.

There were far too many powerful Hunters already.

To succeed, he had to find a new path—

to achieve what ordinary people could not.

To most users, an ability too vast and complex would be considered a failure.

But for him—the best ability is the one that suits you.

This approach was a double-edged sword—obvious strengths, but also glaring risks.

Even Netero's Bodhisattva was enormous yet simple.

Its power came not from design, but from Netero's incomprehensible aura control.

Another crucial point:

Any Nen ability Haze developed had to be adaptable, easily integrated into his fighting style—

in short, it had to be usable.

A classic case of failed Nen development was Kasidoro's defeat at Hisoka's hands.

He was an Enhancer, yet developed a cloning ability—contradicting his nature and wasting his natural potential.

By combining his deep understanding of telekinesis, his study of other Hunters' abilities, and his own physical and mental strength, the system concluded that his ideal form of Nen would be—

Games.

Haze had been a video game enthusiast in his past life.

Countless nights spent gaming had made him intimately familiar with that world.

So—its ease of control and adaptability were absolutely perfect for him.

Currently, his Nen ability remained incomplete—it only had limited effects.

In other words, it was still in development.

He named it—

"The Treasure of the Endless Dreamer's Game."

His goal—

to manifest an entire game world.

Under everyone's gaze, on the arena stage, a small button suddenly appeared in the air before Haze.

Seeing it, Illumi—the man with dreadlocks—understood instantly.

"Materialization type, huh?"

Haze pressed the button with his finger.

A human face suddenly appeared on the coin-sized button, stuttering—

"Initializing..."

The dreadlocked man's instincts screamed danger. He lunged toward Haze at once—

He had to end this fight now!

He couldn't allow Haze to use his ability!

A sharp boom resounded as air pressure exploded—

but Haze had already dodged!

Watching the blur of movement, Illumi thought,

"This kid's starting to adapt to my rhythm... It hasn't even been Haze, and he's already growing..."

"Login... Successful. Now loading... Game start!"

the mechanical button announced before vanishing.

Suddenly, background music began to play.

"Players... ready?

Start the game!"

At once, the space around Haze began to distort.

A spiraling black hole appeared—its surface pixelated like a mosaic.

Judging by its structure, it was summoning low-tier resources—minions, perhaps.

Haze smirked faintly.

He didn't need to overthink this ability—

he only needed to refine it.

He could replicate the world of a game he already knew by heart.

The one he'd played for nearly a decade—

League of Legends.

The world he wanted to manifest was a complete battlefield, including five components:

team, resources, champions, map, and runic abilities.

Since his ability wasn't yet complete, the manifestations from the "Treasure of the Game" were still random.

In moments, countless soldiers wearing tunics and pointed hats marched from the black hole—

carrying shields and swords, followed by archers and even small artillery carts.

Pixelated and slightly shorter than ordinary humans, these troops filled the arena in seconds.

Illumi suddenly found himself surrounded, and Haze's presence had vanished.

The melee soldiers charged forward, weapons drawn.

Illumi dodged swiftly, unleashing a flurry of counterattacks.

He realized the soldiers posed limited danger—

two hits could kill one, and their attacks were weak against his aura defense.

But there were too many.

A single swarm could crush him alive!

And worse—arrows kept raining down without pause.

The melee units were fine, but what truly terrified him were the archers—

because no matter how he dodged, every arrow struck with pinpoint accuracy.

It was 100% precision!

"How... how can this be?" he muttered, stunned. "Is this really Materialization?"

Below the stage,

Biscuit—who had been quietly observing—rose from her seat, her expression turning deadly serious.

Even Wing had never seen her look like that.

"Is this really Materialization?" he swallowed nervously. "Could it be Trait... or something else?"

"It's Materialization," Biscuit said firmly after a deep breath.

But his understanding of Nen... is deeper than I imagined.

At his age... how?

Only someone who had trained for decades could possibly perceive Nen this way.

"What do you mean?" Wing asked.

"The aura attributes of a Nen user aren't absolute," Biscuit explained.

"They simply indicate which category a person aligns with most.

For example—

If someone's aura composition is 70% Enhancement, 20% Emission, and 10% Transformation, they're classified as an Enhancer.

Only a few people ever reach 100% purity.

Most users have overlapping traits with adjacent systems, but it's subtle.

A true master can, to some extent, allow their aura to flow across multiple systems—using unique methods to blend their characteristics.

If someone were a full 100% in a single system, they couldn't possibly do this."

Her gaze sharpened as she looked at the pixel soldiers swarming the arena.

"He beHazes to the Materialization System,

but his adjacent affinities are Transmutation and Specialization.

Most Materialization users create weapons or tools. That's normal, and it's the best way to grow.

But his ability—

it's a fusion of Transformation and Specialization."

"I should have realized it sooner!"

Biscuit bit her finger, shivering from head to toe.

His ability to perceive and interpret aura shifts at such a young age... was terrifying.

It must have come from relentless training.

At first, she thought Haze was honing his perception of aura just to deepen his Nen comprehension.

But now she saw she was completely wrong.

That "training" had been solely to build this ability.

Without such an extraordinary understanding of aura and energy, this skill would have been stillborn.

Biscuit's eyes gleamed with a mixture of shock, confusion, and awe.

This level of Nen insight shouldn't exist in someone so young.

If Haze were a century-old veteran, it would make sense—

but for an eighteen-year-old? Unthinkable.

This feat alone surpassed at least 90% of all Hunters alive.

She herself had learned similar lessons from President Netero.

Nen users can cross systems—

but most don't.

Why?

Because it's useless!

If you're an Enhancer, and all your skills are Enhancement-based—

then your strength lies there. Why change?

But Haze had done what no beginner should even understand—

he had learned to navigate across Nen systems and fuse their attributes.

To do this required two things:

a profound understanding of Nen itself,

and a vast, disciplined knowledge base.

Only by understanding the essence of life energy could one achieve true "Transformation"—

the transformation of Haze's aura itself.

Knowledge can be learned, but that takes time—lots of time.

But insight into life...

that requires talent.

That was why Biscuit hesitated earlier when Wing asked if Haze could truly perceive breathing so sensitively.

Even if President Netero himself were here, she thought, he would be astonished by this boy.

A ridiculous thought crossed her mind—

"This Haze... there's no way he's just an eighteen-year-old novice who recently awakened Nen.

Who is he really?"

"Master!" Wing called several times.

"I'm going," Biscuit said abruptly.

She snapped out of her trance, turned away from the fight, and started walking off with urgency—like she had something important to do.

"But it's not over yet—!" Wing protested.

"No need to watch."

The girl flicked her twin pigtails, lifted her skirt hem slightly, and ran out without looking back.
