Chapter 95 - The yelling silence

As the air became less tense and the echo of the scream—which seemed to be heard only by me—faded, the expressions of everyone relieved a bit as Seraphine flew away. And then I noticed something: the last person I hadn't noticed before was Aeldir, who was still sleeping.

The question raised in my mind: how can a person be so calm and sleepy? But I couldn't blame him; he is just a kid.

Mira stretched her head back, looking toward the ceiling, and asked, "Brother, can you explain to us why you did it?"

Silence filled the air before words.

She asked, "So you aren't?"

I nodded.

With it, she took a small gasp, and as Eron yelled, "Why, Ryn?!" Mira pinched the ear of Eron, saying, "It's useless to run behind a brother who can't even trust his family."

She moved her shaky hand—not to pick up a weapon or harm, but just to hold the hand of her stepbrother, Eron. Eron looked toward Mira, but all he saw were restless eyes, shaky hands, and a face trying to hold composure and withstand the reality in front of her.

From the face of Eron, it could clearly be seen that he wanted to yell, to rip out the truth, to understand and solve the dynamics. Yet my voice remained still inside me as they went to the corner where Elara was sitting. Mira put her head on her knees and slowly turned herself into a fetal position.

What? Why? I questioned myself. Why aren't they yelling? They can scold, they can beat, they have the power and everything—why aren't they?

As I began to sit beside the exit of the cave, I saw Lysandria was already sitting there, a few palms' distance away. I stood back up and changed my position to the left corner of the cave beside Aeldir. While Mira, Eron, and Elara were on the right near the entrance, and Lysandria was on the left near the entrance, I and Aeldir just sat there in the far left corner of the cave, completely silent—with just the difference that one can't speak and one won't speak.

And the only thing left the same between them and me was just the question: why didn't I, Ryn, explain myself or defend myself, rather than taking all the blame?

(BTW NOT COMPULSORY BUT IF SOMEONE WANT TO DIVE DEEP IN THIS UNIVERSE FICTION THE SECOND NOVEL OF MINE WOULD ALSO HELP ,BTW ITS THE STORY FROM LYSANDRIA POV )
