Chapter 56 Sending One'sself to His Death

The war situation in the Silvermoon Federation was shrouded in a suffocating and oppressive atmosphere, as if the entire world was enveloped by some indescribable dark force. Although the Federation's front was steadily advancing, the enemy's previous tactics were as unpredictable as a nightmare.

Their monsters, rotting, diseased entities, are no longer simply material beings, but rather carry malicious pollution from the information dimension, like an invisible virus sweeping across the boundaries of existence. Every encounter with these monsters seems to distort the very order of reality, and any life that dares to come into contact with them is unknowingly eroded, ultimately plunging into a hopeless abyss.

Even more terrifying are the "Blood Demons"—monsters that evolve infinitely. Their flesh seems to grow and adapt in some unimaginable way, and any damage is quickly repaired by their endless vitality, possessing a strange resilience and adaptability. Each evolution brings a suffocating horror.

Even though the Silver Moon Federation had gained a dominant position on the battlefield, the monsters' strangeness and ferocity plunged the entire federation into deep anxiety and helplessness.

Duke Lyon's heart was like a pot of oil about to boil, constantly bearing the dual pressures of the outside world and his own inner turmoil. Even with his high position and control over all military and political affairs of the Federation, he could not escape the fate of being surrounded by fear. His eyes were sunken, his head was heavy, and even simple thinking had become extremely difficult. The symptoms of neurasthenia clung to his body and soul like a tight band.

Every time night falls, he feels an inexplicable chill, as if an invisible hand is slowly reaching out from the abyss, trying to pull him into the darkness.

"The Great Prophet of the Lunar Eclipse," Leon's voice held a hint of urgency, "Does the God of Exar have any new revelations? Do we still need to launch a reverse invasion of the enemy plane?"

The prophet lowered his head, his gaze vacant, his lips twitching slightly, but his expression remained largely unchanged. He said softly, "No, Your Grace. No further divine revelations have been received, and the Moon Goddess seems to have abandoned her plan to reverse the invasion."

Lyon's psychological pressure eased slightly, but just as he was about to relax a little more, a sudden burst of light ripped through the dim sky. It was a tremor from outside the battlefield; a portal suddenly opened in the distance, like a gaping maw from an abyss, swallowing all light and life.

Then, the figures of black goats poured out like a flood. Their flesh and blood were indistinct, like a mixture of liquid and solid that could not be solidified, with writhing muscles and intertwined connective tissue rubbing against the air and making a jarring sound. They did not seem to be made of flesh and blood, but rather supported by something more indescribable, full of the aura of life and mutation.

Each black goat is like an out-of-control biological experiment; their forms are distorted, and their eyes radiate a mad light that doesn't belong to this world.

Lyon's heart jolted, almost unable to bear the horrific sight. He felt the oppressive force emanating from these monsters, like a lone boat on a vast ocean, about to be swallowed up at any moment.

However, the scene did not last long. The Silvermoon Guardians quickly launched an attack, and the high-ranking guards waved their hands, using the mysterious "Reality Distortion Power" to completely erase the existence of these black goats from reality.

They struggled and writhed in the air, but ultimately could not resist this force. Their bodies gradually dissipated, like phantoms swept away by a storm, vanishing instantly into the void.

Leon's mood calmed down slightly. Looking at the deleted monsters, he felt a brief sense of victory. The power of the high-ranking Silvermoon Guardians was as solid as steel, and their reality-distorting abilities seemed to render all the enemy's attempts insignificant.

"Just as I thought." Lyon seemed to be convincing himself. "The enemy has run out of tricks, and their current methods are so weak. The Silvermoon Guardians are strong enough to deal with anything they have."

However, the strange phenomenon did not cease. More black goats emerged from the endless portals, crawling out in an unending stream. Each time they appeared, the Silvermoon Guardians would activate the "deletion" technique again, erasing them from reality. The passage of time, the disappearance of space—everything seemed so regular, as if the battle had become a mechanical, repetitive cycle.

The complex fortifications jointly constructed by the Moon Wheel Craftsmen and the Moon Shadow Priests continued to expand, but with the constant emergence of these black goats, a growing unease began to creep into Leon's heart. Although each battle seemed to end in victory, he had a vague feeling that the enemy did not rely solely on these monsters.

He couldn't help but wonder if he had underestimated the enemy's true intentions.

The black goats continue to emerge, seemingly without end, like an entity that constantly devours and rewrites reality. Behind the disappearance of each black goat lies an unfathomable and sinister intent, and Leon cannot ignore the deeper fear brought about by this force.
