Chapter 69 - CHAPTER 69: talk

As the investigation continued, news came from the hospital that Dalton Grant's condition was gradually improving, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

"Ella Grant, come out," Aiden Grant called from outside the door.

"Ella, no matter what the eldest brother says, make sure not to argue back," Isaac Grant warned with concern.

If the eldest brother got angry, it would be hard to handle the fallout.

Oliver Grant couldn't help but ask, "Is there really someone who dares to talk back to the boss?"

Isaac Grant replied, "I was just trying to remind you..."

The second brother's words seemed to make sense.

But after all, Ella Grant's way of thinking was quite different from most people. Her fiery personality clashed with the boss's temper, making it hard to imagine how that would play out.

Leo Grant chimed in from the side, "Do you really think Ella Grant would listen to you?"

Isaac Grant: "..."

Alright, he was wrong. There was no need for him to say that.

As EllaGrant walked out, she could still hear the mocking and snickering voices behind her.

"See? It's only a matter of time before it's her turn."

"Just wait and see how badly she cries later."

Ella managed a smile; these people sure had vivid imaginations.

Once outside, Aiden Grant suggested, "Want to take a walk in the pavilion?"

Ella couldn't quite figure out his intentions, but since she had nothing else to do, watching those people guess and gossip was getting old.

"Sure."

Aiden had called Ellaout to ask how she knew their dad had been poisoned. However, both Aiden and Ellawere more reserved, and they usually preferred silence over small talk.

Aiden Grant had never encountered a girl like Ella Grant before, and he found himself at a loss for words. If he didn't speak up, Ella certainly wouldn't initiate a conversation either.

So, the two of them walked around the pavilion in silence, not a single word exchanged.

"Shall we take another lap?" Ella suggested, breaking the silence. She had eaten a bit too much in the hall earlier, and a leisurely stroll felt quite nice.

"Sure," Aiden replied.

As they walked another round, Aiden gathered his thoughts and finally asked, "How did you know Dad was poisoned?"

Just as his words hung in the air, Ella suddenly lunged at him, throwing a punch. In an instant, blood splattered everywhere!

Aiden Grant turned around in shock, only to see a man in black take a heavy hit from Ella Grant, his body swaying before collapsing to the ground.

Suddenly, a dozen more men in black revealed themselves, having ambushed them without Aiden noticing.

"It seems they're after you," Ella said, assessing the situation.

The blow she had just delivered left a noticeable scratch on her delicate hand, the bright red mark standing out against her fair skin.

"You!"

How did you know Dad was poisoned? How do you have such impressive skills?

The sudden turn of events left Aiden with a million questions, but now wasn't the time to ask. The group of black-clad men was already closing in.
