Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: The Night Before

Inside a rundown warehouse, Krieg and Gin waited restlessly.

Click

The warehouse door, which hadn't been opened in a long time, made a harsh, difficult sound.

Krieg and Gin quickly became alert. Both were pirates who lived a dangerous life.

Ender stood at the warehouse door and did not go in right away.

"Wait here for me."

After speaking, Ender entered the warehouse. Hank opened his mouth as if to speak but finally stayed silent, guarding the outside of the warehouse.

Walking into the warehouse, Ender saw wooden boxes placed everywhere. The floor was covered in dust. It looked like the warehouse had been empty for a long time.

"You're too slow. Is this how the Goa Kingdom treats people?"

Krieg spoke first, sounding angry.

Ender chuckled lightly as he looked at Krieg.

Krieg was tall, and his face was hidden by his hood. Even though they were a few meters apart, Ender smelled a strange odor.

It was the smell of a powerful poison. Ender sometimes put poison on his knife, so he knew the smell well.

"The job is yours. After you finish, the Kingdom will make you a noble."

Ender got straight to the point. He did not want to waste time talking with these pirates.

"That's it? You said there were three groups compe..."

Krieg's sentence was cut short by Ender.

"No. The other two groups are a mess. I have the power to decide. You just need to say yes or no."

Krieg was clearly unhappy about being cut off, but since they were inside the Goa Kingdom's capital, the pirate didn't dare to be too wild.

Ender did not meet Krieg alone. More than a hundred guards were hiding around the warehouse.

Krieg seemed unsure. He likely didn't trust Ender, or rather, he didn't trust the Goa Kingdom.

"First, tell us what we actually have to do."

Only people inside the capital knew about burning the trash dump. People outside the city did not know.

Krieg was an outsider, so he didn't know the full story. These men were drawn in by the chance to become nobles.

"Burn the Grey Terminal at six o'clock tomorrow night. The time must be exactly right..."

Ender began to explain the details. The faces of Krieg and Gin grew more serious as they listened.

"Burn everything? That's quite difficult. The Grey Terminal covers a large area."

"Don't you know there's something called explosives?"

Ender stared at Krieg, ready for him to suddenly turn against him. This was the most important moment of the negotiation.

"Are you serious? For that much explosives, we won't do it unless you give them to us. I will quit otherwise."

Ender had guessed Krieg's attitude.

"Is that so? That is a shame."

After saying that, Ender prepared to turn and leave, not bothering to argue with Krieg.

"Wait."

Gin stopped Ender and then leaned in to whisper to Krieg:

"Boss, if we bring all the explosives on our ships, we'll have enough."

Krieg looked angrily at Ender. Of course, he knew the explosives on his ships were enough, but he didn't want to use them.

"Do you really think you will become nobles just by burning the Grey Terminal? You must get the explosives, or there is no deal."

Half an hour later, Ender left the warehouse, leaving behind a pained-looking Krieg and Gin.

As a promised benefit, Ender left a document, which was the official paperwork to make Krieg a noble.

As long as Krieg signed the papers and the Kingdom made it official, he would become a noble.

Also, this document could not be canceled by just one side; it had the World Government's stamp on it.

Pirates are hard to trick. If the Kingdom didn't offer a real prize, they would never risk their lives.

"Mr. Hakuitsu, is the matter settled?"

Hank asked carefully. Ender suddenly stopped walking.

"Are you sure you want to know?"

Ender's cold gaze made Hank step back a few steps without thinking.

"No, sir."

At that moment, Hank deeply regretted not killing Ender when they were choosing weapons.

"Hank, there is something I need you to do. This thing is very important."

After speaking, Ender motioned for the hidden guards around them to show themselves. A hundred guards gathered behind him. He led the group back to the Guard headquarters.

--

Night came. Ender was alone in his office in the dark.

The sudden appearance of the Krieg Pirates did not mess up Ender's plan; it actually made it better.

Resting his elbow on the desk, Ender gently pressed his forehead.

He was quite smart, but he knew his current plan was not perfect and might have unknown flaws.

But he had no choice. He was too weak right now and had to rely on planning to reach his goal.

If he had his way, Ender would rather use his sword to solve problems.

"Soon. I will leave this high-danger world."

Even though the first world he went to was a high-danger world like One Piece, he believed Reincarnation Paradise would not keep sending him to worlds five levels harder than his own.

The reason he entered the pirate world might be a test from Reincarnation Paradise, a test of his Hunter status.

Or maybe he wasn't really a Hunter until he finished the main quest. He just had the title but none of the actual duties.

--

Ender slept in the office that night.

He woke up early the next morning and started getting ready for the night's plan.

This was the last day of the main quest's time limit. Midnight tonight was the final deadline for his quest.

Tonight, he would kill the King of the Goa Kingdom. Success or failure rested on this one action.

Ender was busy all day long. He was now the main person in charge of burning the Grey Terminal, so every department gave him what he wanted.

The Left Minister was completely ruined. Ender saw him once, and the man's empty eyes sent a shiver down his spine.

Ender finished everything by four in the afternoon. After that, he went into his office and disappeared from everyone's sight.

Now he just had to wait for the pirates outside the city to set the trash dump on fire.

The reason the Goa Kingdom was burning the trash dump was actually ridiculous.

In a couple of weeks, the World Nobles, the Celestial Dragons, would come for a visit. To keep them from seeing the huge mountain of trash outside the city, the Goa Kingdom decided to burn down the trash dump, along with the thousands of poor people living outside the city walls.

That is how the leaders of the pirate world acted. They would burn thousands of people just to hide a flaw from the people above them.

--

At five in the evening, the sky grew dark. A gentle night breeze blew. In one hour, it would be time to burn the Grey Terminal, and the city was strangely quiet.

In the dark office, Ender sat alone behind the desk as a green treasure chest suddenly appeared in his hand.

He got this treasure chest after killing the master of Mt. Colubo, but he had been too busy to open it until now.

The green treasure chest made Ender excited, and a smile appeared on his tired face.

[TreasureChest (Green), Open? Yes/No]

He chose yes, and a few items appeared in Ender's hand.

You opened the Treasure Chest (Green) and received the following items:

You received 1,000 Paradise Coins.

You received Soul Crystal (Small).

You received Tiger Claw.

...

He did not get any Equipment, but this was what he had expected.

Ender had opened a few treasure chests and understood the rules a bit.

The quality of the items he got from a treasure chest related to the chest's color. The qualities he knew so far were White < Green < Blue.

The Equipment or item that came out of a treasure chest was related to the person or animal that dropped the chest.

For example, if Ender killed a tiger, the treasure chest it dropped would never have a sword or a shield.

Killing a tiger would most likely give him the tiger's claws or fur, and killing a human was the same.

When he killed the black market dealer, Ender got an introduction letter the dealer had left behind.

When he killed Brandon O'Car, Ender got the necklace he was wearing.

...

Ender checked the items in his hands.

The Paradise Coins went right into his inventory. Even though it was called a coin, it was a type of money without a physical form.

[TigerClaw]

Quality: Green.Type: Material.Score: 16. (Note: Green materials score from 10 to 30. Higher scores mean the material is more valuable.)Info: The sharp claw of an elite creature. Can be used to make Equipment in Reincarnation Paradise or as an enhancer for upgrades.

[SoulCrystal (Small)]

...

Playing with the clear Soul Crystal that was the size of his pinky nail, Ender was completely confused about the two new items he got.

But he had a feeling that this crystal, the Soul Crystal, was the most valuable item he had ever received.

He would learn everything when he returned to Reincarnation Paradise. Right now, his main goal was to finish the quest.

As time slowly reached six o'clock in the evening.

Ender left the office and disappeared into the night. He would either finish the quest tonight or die in the royal palace. There was no other choice.
