Chapter 26 - THE HIDDEN TRUTH

The glittering lights of Busan welcomed Y/N like an old friend. Her first-ever solo concert in her home country — and this time, not as someone's wife or assistant, but as a star. The arena was packed, her name glowing on huge LED screens.

Backstage, Jungkook stood beside her, helping her calm down.

"You've got this, Y/N," he said softly, placing a hand on her shoulder. "This is your night. Forget everything else."

She smiled faintly, looking down at her mic. "Yeah… I'll try. But Busan means memories. Too many."

He understood — Busan wasn't just a city. It was where she'd first met Taehyung eight years ago, back when she was just an intern and he was a young entrepreneur with dreams too big for one lifetime.

When the lights dimmed and her music started, the crowd screamed her name. The beats echoed in her heart — every lyric she wrote carried a piece of her pain, her love, her silence.

Then, halfway through her set, she spotted them — her mom and Jimin, sitting in the front row. Tears blurred her eyes. She smiled through them, whispering into the mic,

"Umma… Jimin-ah… this one's for you."

The piano notes began, and she sang her soul out — the song was "Maybe Once More," a heart-wrenching ballad she'd written after her last argument with Taehyung.

The crowd fell silent. Her voice trembled, but it was powerful — the kind that makes even strangers feel her story.

After the final note, the stage lights dimmed and Rosé from BLACKPINK walked in, surprising everyone.

"Busan, let's hear it for Y/N!"

The two hugged tightly. Rosé laughed, "You made me cry back there. I didn't know you could pour so much emotion into one song."

Y/N chuckled, her eyes still red. "I didn't know either… maybe pain sings best."

They performed a duet — a soft acoustic mashup that made the audience sway their flashlights like stars. It was magical — two voices, two hearts, one story of strength.

Later that night,

Y/N stood on the rooftop of her hotel, looking over Busan's coastline. Jungkook joined her with two mugs of hot chocolate.

"You know," he said, "I've seen a lot of singers rise. But what you did today… it wasn't just music. It was healing."

She smiled. "Maybe. But it still hurts."

He looked at her quietly. "Is it about Taehyung again?"

She didn't answer — just turned away.

✨ Between Love and Habit✨

The morning sunlight filtered softly through the curtains of their Seoul apartment. Y/N was curled up on one side of the bed, laptop open, reading song lyrics. Taehyung had just woken up — his messy hair falling into his eyes, his voice still heavy with sleep.

"Are you working again this early?" he asked, rubbing his eyes.

Y/N looked up and smiled faintly. "Habit, I guess. You know how my brain works."

Taehyung chuckled, sitting beside her. "Your brain works like a machine, and my heart… has no off button for you."

She rolled her eyes, laughing softly. "There you go again, Mr. Romantic CEO."

But her smile faded into a shy silence — because they both knew that behind his teasing, there was something real now. Something fragile but warm.

Since Busan, things had changed between them.

They had decided to live normally — not as strangers under one roof, but as companions learning to exist again.

Some days they cooked breakfast together — Y/N humming while flipping pancakes, and Taehyung pretending to be her "official food critic."

Other days they argued — over laundry, over her forgetting to reply to his texts, or over Taehyung's habit of leaving files all over the living room.

"Seriously, how can someone so organized at work be such a mess at home?" Y/N groaned, picking up papers from the sofa.

"Because at work, I'm the boss," he said with a playful smirk, walking toward her. "And here… I'm your husband."

"That's not an excuse," she muttered, crossing her arms.

He came closer, looking straight into her eyes. "Then what should I do to make you forgive me, hmm?"

Y/N tried to act stern, but her lips curved upward. "Start by cleaning this mess."

He grinned. "Or maybe…" — he reached out and gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear — "maybe I can convince you in another way?"

Her breath caught for a moment. She pushed him lightly, pretending to be annoyed, but her cheeks were pink.

"Fine, I'll clean it myself," he sighed dramatically. "Mrs. Kim, you're impossible."

She smiled softly. "You already knew that eight years ago."

That night, they sat on the balcony together — hot cocoa, city lights, and the faint music from her playlist.

Y/N leaned her head on his shoulder. "You know, Tae… I thought leaving the company would make me feel free. But sometimes, I miss being there. Being your assistant."

Taehyung looked at her quietly. "You were never just my assistant, Y/N. You were the only person who actually understood me."

She smiled, eyes glistening. "Then why did we fight so much?"

"Because we were scared," he replied honestly. "Scared to admit that we needed each other."

A long silence followed — not uncomfortable, just full of unspoken things.

Taehyung turned slightly toward her. "Y/N…"

She looked up.

And before either of them could think, he leaned in — not rushed, not demanding, just a quiet moment that felt like home. A soft, gentle kiss — full of everything they'd never said.

When they pulled apart, she blinked, stunned.

"Tae…"

He smiled faintly, eyes searching hers. "You don't have to say anything. I just wanted to remember how it feels to be… real with you."

Y/N's heart raced. "You're impossible," she whispered, but her tone wasn't angry.

"Only for you," he murmured with a small grin.

That night,

They fell asleep beside each other — not as a perfect couple, but as two imperfect souls learning how to love, slowly, quietly, like the rhythm of their breathing.

And for the first time in years… the house didn't feel cold.
