Spencer sat opposite the the lady in the gym. She was Lady Keira, her aunt and the head of the Serpents, House Ali's guild. She is no warrior or mage but the underworld will tell you she commands the world's strongest private army.
The Serpents are the family guild as House Ali's speciality is assassinations. The Serpents are well known for their specialisation in assassinations, sabotage, surveillance and psychological warfare working as a clandestine network of informants, assassins and spies and mostly known for their blackmail business using it to leverage a lot of people and businesses. To keep in business , Lady Keira is always on the lookout for new talent.
Lady Keira looked at Spencer and saw how quickly he reacted when her eyes rested on him even though he had been lost in his thoughts. Their silver eyes met and both looked calculating in their own ways as if they were about to enter into a battle of wits.
"I saw your boy." she said softly and kept her eyes on him to see his reaction, " but he didn't get to fight."
He just grinned and sipped his cup of tea the said, " His name is Micah Reed. Sometimes Kumo."
"You have watched him and I hear from Darrien you two are friends. Tell me more."
"Yeah" he did not flinch, " He is good like I said and since you have talked to Darrien and he has done an exhibition for you, I guess our deal is done. I scouted a talent and your saw him. We're done." He then stood up to leave.
Lady Keira then said, "Just give me a few details." However, to Spencer, he could feel the desperation in her voice. Her only weakness was strong people and he had her in a guillotine chokehold.
Spencer then sat down softly and said, "What do you promise for this information? However, there is no way I am bringing him to you cheaply."
"Fine, I give you a 5% stake in the guild, and if you add to your already 15 that makes you hold 20% making you the third biggest shareholder. However, your father and I still call the shots even if he turns against me, you two won't be able to control it since then you two now hold 45%."
" Well, Kumo is a killer with good instincts. He will only join your guild if he knows he is safe. He hates rules and better make them few. Also, he loves money. That is his only weakness since he has no family. One more thing, never backstab him because remember guild 3G's fall, that was him. as a novice and unskilled and he was aged thirteen then. He unknowingly took out your competition for you."
Lady Keira then asked, " If there are no strings to hold him, would he be loyal then? "
Spencer smirked while getting up and putting on his coat, " To who? The guild? To you?" He then paused letting his eyes meet hers, " Or to me? " Then he turned to go.
Lady Keira shouted," I see you also have twin swords and I guess I have my answer. But I guess you are also forfeiting the katana."
Spencer shouted back in reply, "The twin swords, are just show. I thought he had told you that." He laughed as he left but already he was thinking ways of how he would bring Kumo under his wing.
