Chapter 25 - Strength and Resilience

Every gaze settled on Helena and Camila as if weighing them against each other. Dmitri stood firmly at Helena's side, his presence reinforcing his wife's authority. At the opposite end, Romeo watched Camila with the calm of someone who knew his support could be decisive.

The patriarch took a sip from his glass before speaking:

"If we are to decide who should carry the responsibility of the surname and the family business, we must examine not only achievements, but each of your vision and strategy."

Helena answered first, her tone confident and calculated:

"It's not only about what I've built. It's about preserving the stability we've achieved. Every decision I make in my network has global consequences. There is no room for mistakes. Dmitri can attest to that."

Dmitri gave a slight nod, the firmness of his posture making it clear that the accomplishments were not his alone, but the result of a team capable of withstanding any challenge.

"Helena has demonstrated unshakable leadership. Keeping the network at the top requires strategic vision and the ability to make decisions others would fear. That is what this surname needs."

Camila remained composed, her eyes fixed on Helena and Dmitri.

"The world needs more than corporate leadership. Family, business, and society are interconnected. What I've built as a doctor, and what Romeo has achieved in architecture, shows our ability to impact lives—not just financial statements."

Romeo spoke calmly, reinforcing her words:

"It's not just reputation. It's tangible responsibility. Every city I've designed, every medical project Camila leads, reflects our capacity for planning and our commitment to results that go beyond profit."

The patriarch inclined his head, evaluating every expression and gesture.

"Interesting. Both sides show strength, but we must go beyond visible achievements. I need to understand how each of you would face a crisis that threatens the family's stability."

Helena was direct, without hesitation:

"Any crisis requires immediate decisions. Emotions must not interfere. You need fast analysis and precise execution. Dmitri and I have faced situations where a single mistake could collapse the entire system. We learned to act, not react."

"And in medicine and architecture," Camila replied, "pressure is constant as well. But you must consider the lives behind each decision. The fastest solution is not always the right one. You need ethical judgment, foresight, and flexibility. Romeo and I have managed projects that affect millions, balancing risk and benefit."

Dmitri frowned slightly as he looked at Romeo.

"Flexibility is fine, but what the family needs is security. Precision. The ability to hold the structure together without letting external factors destabilize it."

"And what Camila demonstrates," Romeo answered firmly, "is that security doesn't come only from controlling numbers or systems, but from protecting what depends on us—family, communities, projects. That is also the vision that keeps a surname strong."

The patriarch rested his elbows on the table, interlacing his fingers as his intense gaze swept across them all.

"I see that both sides have solid arguments. But this is not just about impact or numbers. I need to feel who has the strength and resilience to sustain everything we've built."

Helena leaned slightly forward, confidence steady in her voice.

"Resilience is proven through consistent results in real time. Dmitri and I have handled situations where failure was not an option. We can uphold the family structure without doubt, without hesitation."

Camila met Helena's gaze without wavering.

"Resilience is also measured by the ability to adapt to the unexpected. My work with communities and critical projects has taught me to stay calm and find effective solutions, even when variables change without warning. Romeo knows this."

The patriarch sighed, his fingers still tightly interlaced.

"This is becoming complex. You both show strength, intelligence, and determination. Helena, your command of business is unquestionable. Camila, your social impact and leadership are equally clear."

Dmitri gave a faint nod, reinforcing his position beside Helena—his silent support visible, almost intimidating.

"Let's not forget," the patriarch continued, "that the final decision is not only about who is more successful, but about who can maintain family cohesion while leading."

Helena allowed herself a small, measured smile while Dmitri watched her, confident in the strength they projected together. Camila breathed calmly, trusting Romeo, whose steady posture reinforced her stance: this was not just individual ability, but shared and ethical leadership.

Silence stretched heavily across the room. Every word seemed to linger in the air. No one moved; even the cutlery seemed to hold its breath. The tension between the sides was palpable, the atmosphere thick with competition, strategy, and pride.
