Chapter 32 - Mister Nachtmahr

Mr. N was ready to speak to Liam and Siegfreed; however, immediately, the scanners on his watch went off, signaling a clear disturbance near his room.

"HOLD ON, I need to handle this."

He sprinted into the hallway.

Killer Karmel Kan closed his eyes, exhaling."This is going to be hard. That clash with Yara hurt. BAD."

Back in the kitchen, Yara's Bible scoffed."Let's hope whoever faces him has the strength to take him out."

A wounded man on the floor coughed out a laugh."Impossible. You're all dead already. Kan is a monst—"

He never finished.

Yara's Bible slipped a marble between the man's teeth.

A snap of fingers.

The marble swelled and tripled in size⁴, rupturing him from the inside in a red burst.

Yara didn't flinch.

"Can't be a coincidence this happens right after we receive the human weapon… Liam."

Karmel Kan dashed.

Something felt off; however, he kept moving quickly, checking different doors.

He met Rocks in a kitchen… and now he just had a full-scale battle in a kitchen? That's so odd…

The image of a spinning wheel appeared in the back of his mind.

But Kan ignored it.

Mr. N closed his eyes, focusing his hearing on the unnatural sound flowing through his brain. He analyzed hundreds of possible scenarios and outcomes.

Weight. Height. Muscle tone. Bone density. Weapons. Armor.

Just by hearing their bodies move, Mr. N could decipher what was happening.

In the dark, Mr. N removed his gloves.

Waiting.

The door burst open.

The lights went off.

Killer Karmel Kan was known for his assassination skills—the ability to blend in and dissect his opponents efficiently.

However, Mr. N wouldn't make it so easy.

He was prepared for this.

And like a magician—

He vanished.

Kan kept one hand at his side, hovering over his rusted knife.

He scanned the room.

Nothing.

No doubt—this was the room.

White walls. Simple design. Three posters of famous girls. A huge window leading to a patio.

Old bed sheets and underwear left out to dry in the morning sun.

Wait.

What?

This was the exact same description of Mr. N's room that was given to him in the picture.

But why was it identical?

That didn't make sense.

His heart slowed.

"It's 5 PM… why is the lighting the same as the morning?"

Then—

The words flickered across his mind.

"Strawberry Jam."

Kan froze.

Five seconds.

Total silence.

"Wait… what am I talking about?"

"I'm in the dark."

"I shouldn't be able to see anything."

"HUH?"

Flustered, Kan paced back and forth, looking left, right—even above him.

Nothing.

Just the cool winter breeze and fog entering through Mr. N's open window.

Goosebumps spread across his skin.

Wait.

That window—

It's pumping gas.

Before he could process it, his eardrums began to bleed.

Rapidly.

The sound was so deafening he couldn't even comprehend it.

The plan before the fight,Lay traps beneath the light.Gas in the air,A hum in the skin,He steps through the hell I built within.

Mr. N smiles.

Kan's voice cracked as he tried to speak.

"What—"Cough.Cough.Cough."What the fuck?"

As Kan struggled to breathe, his gasps resembled the wheezing of an asthmatic.

Each cough felt like a thousand needles stabbing into his lungs.

Darkness filled the air.

In panic, Kan fell onto his back before forcing himself up again.

Then—

He realized.

He was blind.

In a frantic scramble, he dropped his knife.

Agitated, he reached for his face—

Touching his own wide-open eyes.

Pain exploded.

"AAHH!"

He stumbled, slamming his head into the wall.

"Drop dead," Mr. N mumbled.

Kan's bones became biscuits.

Literally.

His legs gave out, his bones shattering under the weight of his own body.

He collapsed.

Crippled.

But something caught him—

Hooked into his spine.

Holding him upright.

Suspended.

Like meat.

"Peanut Butter."

This was it.

It ended here.

"Time to transmute you," Mr. N sighed.

But—

"The Hero Arrives."

The modulator distorted Liam's voice as it echoed through the room.

"Allow me to save you."
