Chapter 62 - Chapter 62

The heroes gather around Orion and Latias, a mixture of awe and exhaustion on their faces. Sirens wail in the distance, a testament to the chaos that had just unfolded.

"Wow, that was intense!" Kamala exclaims, still buzzing from the adrenaline. "Pikachu was amazing!"

Doreen nods vigorously, Emolga perched on her shoulder. "Seriously! I've never seen anything like it. That little guy just wiped out Mole Man's entire army like it was nothing."

Valeria, ever the pragmatist, approaches Orion. "Your Pokémon is incredibly powerful, Mr. Oak. Its speed and control are remarkable."

Franklin, Ralts hovering near him, chimes in, "Yeah! Pikachu's awesome! But that device Mole Man had… what was that?"

Orion offers a gentle smile, taking the Subterranean Sinker from Pikachu. "Just a little something that shouldn't be in the wrong hands. Latias and I were concerned about its potential to disrupt Pokémon Home's balance." He glances at the young heroes. "You all handled yourselves admirably. Your Pokémon are strong, and your teamwork was impressive. Pikachu merely dealt with the immediate threat."

Pikachu, hearing the praise, chirps happily and zaps Orion's hand with a friendly jolt of electricity. Orion chuckles, patting the little Pokémon's head. "Someone's feeling proud."

The heroes, still reeling from Pikachu's display, pull out their Pokédexes. Screens flicker to life, displaying the entry for "Pikachu (Hat Variant)."

Pokédex Entry: Pikachu (Hat Variant)

Species: Mouse Pokémon

Type: Electric

Height: 0.4 m (1′04″)

Weight: 6.0 kg (13.2 lbs)

Sex: Male

Moves:

Thunderbolt

Quick Attack

Iron Tail

Electro Ball

Volt Tackle

etc.

Ability:

Static — may paralyze attackers that make direct physical contact.

Hidden Ability: Lightning Rod — draws in Electric-type moves, boosting Special Attack instead of taking damage.

Description: This Pikachu wears a distinctive hat — a special variant often distributed via events or as a tribute to famous Trainers. Despite the hat, it retains all the same traits as a regular Pikachu: cheek sacs that store electricity, cheeks that glow before it discharges shock, and a bright, expressive nature.

Even with the hat, this Pikachu remains highly agile and alert. Its hat-wearing variants have appeared in many forms — from simple caps to themed hats — but these are purely aesthetic; they don't alter its Electric typing, abilities, or fundamental stats.

When trained well, this Pikachu becomes fiercely loyal to its Trainer. It uses its electric powers to protect friends, clear paths in dark places, or even power tools and machines. Its hat often becomes a symbol of its bond with its Trainer — a badge of past journeys or shared adventures.

"Whoa," Franklin breathes, eyes glued to the data. "Thunderbolt, Volt Tackle… this thing's a powerhouse!"

Valeria nods, already analyzing. "Its abilities, Static and Lightning Rod, are incredibly potent. And that hat… it's a symbol of its bond with Orion, apparently."

"So it's not just a regular Pikachu?" Kamala asks, amazed.

Orion smiles, scratching Pikachu behind the ears. "Pikachu has been with me for a long time. We've been through a lot together." Pikachu chirps in agreement, a bright spark in its eyes. The Pokédex entry confirms it: this is no ordinary Mouse Pokémon.

The heroes' attention shifts to Latias, who stands serenely beside Orion. Valeria, always one for data, quickly scans her with her Pokédex.

Pokédex Entry: Latias

Species: Eon Pokémon

Type: Dragon / Psychic

Height: 1.4 m (4′07″)

Weight: 40.0 kg (88.2 lbs)

Sex: Female

Moves:

Psychic

Dragon Pulse

Recover

Mist Ball

etc.

Ability:Levitate — grants immunity to Ground-type moves and protection from entry hazards like Spikes/Toxic Spikes when airborne.

Description: Latias is a legendary, dragon-like Pokémon famed for its gentle nature, intelligence, and strong empathic abilities. Her body is covered in a special, light-refracting down that allows her to become virtually invisible, aiding stealth and protection of those she trusts. She possesses great speed and agility — she can fly faster than jets and perform sudden evasive maneuvers, combining aerial grace with psychic prowess. Latias is known to only reveal herself to trainers with a pure heart and kind intentions. Once trust is earned, she becomes a loyal companion: protective, perceptive, and deeply attuned to the feelings of humans and Pokémon alike. As a Legendary Pokémon, Latias is rare and elusive. She does not evolve from or to any other Pokémon, and is often encountered only in special events, key story moments, or under unique circumstances.

"Legendary?" Franklin breathes, eyes wide. "Like, actually legendary?"

"Dragon/Psychic type, Levitate ability… and she can turn invisible?" Doreen marvels, nudging Kamala. "Talk about cool!"

Kamala, equally impressed, nods. "And she can fly faster than jets? Wow. She's beautiful, too."

The Titans also stare, their initial shock giving way to professional curiosity.

"A Legendary Pokémon?" Robin murmurs, his usual stoicism cracking. "And she's assisting him?"

Starfire clasps her hands together, her eyes shining. "She is truly a vision! Like a jewel from the sky!"

Beast Boy whistles, "Whoa, talk about a power-up! I wonder if she likes pizza."

Cyborg, ever the tech wiz, pulls out a scanner. "Her energy readings are off the charts. This is beyond anything I've ever seen."

Raven, usually so reserved, offers a small, knowing smile. "Her psychic aura… it feels ancient. And peaceful."

A wave of awe, mixed with a healthy dose of friendly jealousy, washes over the young heroes. To see Orion so calmly interacting with a Legendary Pokémon, a creature of myth, is something else entirely. It's like watching a superhero casually chat with a cosmic deity.

"Man," Beast Boy mutters, "I wish I had a Legendary Pokémon partner."

"Or the epic adventures!" Starfire adds, her eyes sparkling.

"I'd settle for a strong one," Robin admits, eyeing Pawniard. "But still…"

Suddenly, a familiar sleek vehicle descends from the sky, its anti-grav engines humming. The Fantasticar, its silver-blue exterior gleaming, lands with a gentle thud. The canopy hisses open, and out steps Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm (The Thing), and Johnny Storm (Human Torch). They'd returned from their space mission to find the city in utter chaos, and the sight of the defeated Mole Man and the gathered heroes is quite the welcome home.

"Whoa, what did we miss?" Johnny asks, flames flickering around his hands as he surveys the scene. "Looks like the party started without us."

Ben grunts, his rocky form radiating power. "Looks like the city's in good hands, though. Nice work, kids."

Reed, ever the scientist, immediately pulls out a scanner. "Fascinating energy signatures… and a rather impressive display of power from that Pikachu. Remarkable."

Sue smiles warmly at the younger heroes, her gaze softening as she takes in their Pokémon. "Well, it's certainly been an eventful day."

Valeria and Franklin rush toward their parents, relief evident on their faces. Sue hugs them tightly, her invisible force fields momentarily shimmering around them as if to ensure they're truly safe.

"Oh, thank goodness you're both alright!" Sue exclaims, her voice filled with genuine warmth. "We were so worried when we heard about Mole Man."

Reed, ever the scientist, scans them quickly with a handheld device. "Readings are normal. No residual radiation or seismic disturbances detected. Excellent work, kids."

Ben grumbles, "Yeah, great job, but you two gotta stop runnin' off like that. Almost gave ol' Grimmy here a heart attack."

Valeria, however, is already explaining. "We had help, Dad. Ms. Marvel and Squirrel Girl were here, and so were the Teen Titans. They stopped Mole Man and Giganto."

Johnny whistles, looking over at the assembled young heroes. "Nice! Guess the kiddie corps can handle themselves. Good job, you guys!"

Robin nods curtly, his arms crossed. "We were handling it."

Orion steps forward, bowing slightly. "Indeed, you all performed admirably. It is always an honor to witness such bravery." He then turns his attention to Reed, a flicker of recognition in his eyes. "Mr. Richards, I presume? It is a pleasure to finally meet you. I've heard much about your intellect."

Reed beams, adjusting his glasses. "The honor is all mine, Mr. Oak. Your work with Pokémon is… fascinating. Truly revolutionary." He gestures towards Latias and Pikachu. "These creatures… Pokémon, you call them? Remarkable specimens."

Orion smiles. "They are more than just specimens, Mr. Richards. They are partners, friends. If any of you ever feel the need for such a companion, Pokémon Home is always open."

He then turns to Reed, holding out the Subterranean Sinker. "This device is quite unstable. It would be best if it were kept secure." Reed accepts it, his eyes already scanning its complex internal workings.

"Thank you," Reed says, captivated. "We'll certainly be studying this. And, Mr. Oak, I'd be most interested in learning more about these Pokémon of yours."

Orion nods. "Of course. But for now, I must return to Pokémon Home. Someone needs to keep the place running." He gives a final, knowing glance to the heroes. "Until next time."

With a wave from Latias and a cheerful chirp from Pikachu, Orion jumped onto Latias's back, disappearing as quickly as he arrived.
