Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 – Subject #85613 is—

Yū tried to stand, but his legs gave out. He could only kneel, trembling.

"Th-thank you…" he muttered weakly.

"Ho?" the man tilted his head slightly—Subject #85613. A faint smirk curved his lips.

"You're tough."

He turned to the glass above.

"I guess my business here is done, my lady."

"Ehh?" Yū blinked in confusion. Wait, what about that thing?!

Subject #85613 shrugged. "I guess this guy can still fight."

His tone was casual—almost amused.

Aria didn't respond. Her gaze hardened. "You can go back now."

"Wait, what about that one?!" Yū shouted, pointing behind him.

The beast roared—its body crackling with blue lightning. The air shimmered from the voltage as it screeched and fired bursts of energy wildly across the room.

Subject #85613 sighed, his expression fading into cold disinterest.

"How boring. I thought there was something interesting here, but it's just a weakling."

Aria wanted to stop the interrogation; she could see the truth in Yū's eyes. But before she could give the order, alarms blared.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

The monster's power surged—its body overflowing with unstable electricity. Sparks rained from the ceiling, and the lights flickered.

"Huh?" Subject #85613 glanced at the chaos, then dismissed it with a lazy shrug.

He turned to leave, heading back toward the chamber he came from.

"You might wanna look out for that boy," he muttered to Yū.

"What do you expect me to do?!" Yū snapped, desperation in his voice. "Everyone thinks I can do something crazy—I'm not even an Affinity or a Superhuman!"

He grabbed Subject #85613's leg, voice shaking. "Please… I'm just human!"

Ayato looked down, his eyes dark and distant. "Human, beast… you're all the same."

His face twisted with disgust—something painful buried deep in his memory.

Then, with chilling calmness, he said,

"Then die here."

He lifted his hand, extending one finger—the same motion that killed the monster before and touched Yū.

Aria's eyes widened. "Stop! Don't do it!"

But it was too late.

Flick.

A burst of invisible force slammed into Yū.

BOOM!

The shockwave rippled through the chamber—blood splattered across the white floor.

Half of Yū's body was gone.

"No!" Aria screamed, her voice breaking. A few tears fell down her cheeks.

I know he has a Death Trigger… but this—!

No one can come back from this!

She turned to the man. "Why did you do that?!"

Ayato paused, looking back with a faint, mocking smile.

"…I just felt like it. Hahaha."

"Return to your room," Aria ordered coldly.

"Yeah, yeah…" he muttered, brushing off her anger. "Let me just take care of this monster first, alright?"

She said nothing.

Ayato turned to face the lightning beast as it crackled and howled.

His steps echoed softly across the chamber.

---

Yū's Mind

A few seconds after the flick, darkness swallowed him. His thoughts were scattered—fading.

But then—something stirred inside his chest.

A faint spark.

A breaking sound—like a chain snapping apart.

Static filled his mind.

"D—… T—r…"

His remaining blood began to move—flowing unnaturally, crawling across the floor like living veins.

His severed lower half shifted, reattaching itself to his upper body in a blur of motion.

Neither Aria nor Subject #85613 noticed.

Aria's head was bowed, trembling.

Ayato was still approaching the beast.

Then—

Thud.

Yū stood.

Blood swirled around him, coating his skin like a living armor. His wounds sealed. His eyes glowed red—burning with rage and instinct.

He opened his mouth and roared.

The sound shook the room.

Aria's head snapped up, eyes wide.

Relief and fear clashed within her. He's alive…? No—he's changing.

Every record said Death Trigger users had one fatal weakness: severe blood loss.

Lose too much, and you die before it activates.

But Yū… he broke that rule.

He surpassed it.

In an instant—he vanished.

Aria and Ayato froze.

A blinding flash erupted behind Subject #85613—

BOOOOM!

The lightning beast exploded—blood and smoke filling the chamber.

Subject #85613 spun around, eyes narrowing.

Yū stood there, crimson aura burning like fire.

"Tch. What the hell was that?" Subject #85613 muttered, his instincts screaming. He's dangerous.

He raised his hand, activating his Trigger, touching a part of his body lightly.

A massive phantom hand enveloped him like armor.

Yū lunged at Subject #85613, roaring.

Their clash shattered the air.

Subject #85613 was thrown backward, slamming into the wall. He coughed, stunned.

But there was a cost, his forearm twisted violently, bones cracking from the recoil.

Still, Yū didn't stop. His arm regenerated instantly, flesh reforming like molten steel.

Ayato's eyes widened. "You've gotta be kidding me…"

"Hey, My lady I thought this guy's is just a normal guy, guess his different"

"Don't kill him" Aria remark like he just discovered some good subject

"Easy for you to say" says by Subject #85613

---

After some time, Yū woke up to an unfamiliar ceiling.

He blinked, trying to recall what happened.

Then—

knock knock.

He stood up from the bed just as the door opened. Aria stepped inside.

She noticed he was awake and smiled faintly.

Yū tensed again, uneasy.

"You don't need to be on guard," she said softly.

But Yū couldn't calm down, not after what happened.

Aria sighed, sensing it. "I'm sorry for what happened," she said.

Yū thought, You think an apology can fix that?

But he kept it to himself.

"So… what will happen to me now?" he asked quietly.

"You can go home now. Ah, if you want, I can ask my butler to drive you home."

"Ah, that's fine," Yū replied quickly. I don't want to get involved with you anymore… I miss my friends and my uncle.

"Just one last question," Aria said. "Are you truly not related to any organization or anyone with a Death Trigger?"

"As I said, I don't even know what that is."

"I see. I believe you."

Yū stumbled slightly as he got out of bed, heading toward the nearest wall.

Aria watched him, surprised, then let out a soft giggle. She understood why he was acting that way.

---

When Yū got home, his uncle immediately scolded him for not telling him where he went and for not even texting or calling.

Then, at school

it was just another normal day.

Aria looked cheerful as always, smiling and chatting with her classmates.

Then the teacher entered. "Alright, class, we have a new transfer student."

The girls squealed excitedly as the door opened. While the boys are envious.

"Please introduce yourself," the teacher said.

Yū froze the moment he saw who walked in.

The new student smiled a calm, foxlike grin.

"Nice to meet you," he said.

"I'm Ayato Kitsune."

Subject #85613.
