Chapter 89 - Leverage

The Imperial Army attempted to halt the advance of the Blackstone Fortress with their flesh and blood, but it was clear that the Space Wolves' efforts had failed; they did not succeed in stopping the Blackstone Fortress from advancing.

The energy fluctuations of the Blackstone Fortress continued to gather.

The energy shields of the Cadia fortress world had already shut down—

Although the priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus were doing their utmost to repair the shield system, they needed more time.

But by now, they seemed to have run out of time.

Destruction seemed imminent, and the Imperial campaign appeared to be on the verge of failure.

Abaddon's massive expeditionary force had thoroughly routed the Imperial Navy in orbit and escorted the Blackstone Fortress into an attack position.

The Space Marines' actions had also failed; although they were still fighting on the Blackstone Fortress, they were clearly unable to cripple this massive battleship.

The entire planet, both the chaos side and the Imperium of Man, held its breath.

In this instant, it seemed all the Space Marines' efforts had been in vain, and failure had become a certainty.

A dazzling Warp energy blast shot forth; the Blackstone Fortress's planet-shattering attack had arrived.

At this critical moment, a massive psychic shield appeared on the surface of planet Cadia, a psychic power originating from Zeke.

Following this, the shield generators on Cadia, for some unknown reason, resumed operation and performed at a powerful, higher-than-normal output.

The power from the Sea of Souls was rapidly withdrawn under Zeke's interception, and the shield generators only needed to bear a small portion of its might.

Abaddon stared dumbfounded at the scene unfolding before his eyes.

He couldn't understand why; he completely failed to grasp it, and at this moment, the four Chaos Gods in the Warp once again roared out, communicating with Zeke.

"You've gone too far! How could you personally intervene? This is unethical!"

The four gods of the Warp watched as Zeke personally stepped in to block this attack, and they were quite annoyed.

The four Chaos Gods of the Warp cannot manifest their true forms directly in the real universe; they require a medium, but Zeke does not.

For the four Chaos Gods, they usually play chess on a board, moving their pieces to fight for themselves.

It had been this way since their very inception.

However, the human race was truly excessive; first, a the Emperor appeared, who immediately slapped each of them and then declared himself a chess piece, also here to play chess.

But the Emperor was fine.

After all, he was a pre-arranged chess partner, so even though they were hit, the Emperor paid his price; he could only play chess within the Warp like them, which everyone could accept.

The game was going well; they were using the warmaster of chaos as their piece against the Emperor, and just as they were about to win, another fellow appeared from the human side.

They were unclear about Zeke's origin.

They also didn't know where such a powerful god had come from, but they indeed felt it was hard to bear.

This guy, like the Emperor, also proclaimed himself a chess piece.

And he even pulled out a bunch of figurines from who-knows-where, whose art style was clearly completely different from theirs, insisting that those things were chess pieces.

Alright.

They conceded.

If he said those things were chess pieces, then they were chess pieces.

But they hadn't even felt much heartache watching their chaos Daemonic Army instantly annihilated when this guy, again proclaiming himself a chess piece, charged forward and gave them a good beating.

Later, they tried to retaliate, resulting in them having broken limbs and the other party being bruised and battered.

By any measure, they seemed to be at a disadvantage.

But at least they thought they might be able to play chess peacefully for a while, but what was this now?

This guy was again disregarding martial ethics; it was one thing when he abused them with those figurines whose art style was different from theirs.

But now, he actually walked onto the chessboard himself and then claimed to be a chess piece?!

The four Chaos Gods were enraged—

They were enraged; after shouting that Zeke had gone too far, they quickly regained their composure.

They raged in their anger.

What could they do? It wasn't like they hadn't fought before, and what was the outcome?

They had broken limbs, and the other party was bruised and battered.

If they fought again, wouldn't it just be them with broken limbs and the other party bruised and battered again?

Zeke naturally sensed the displeasure of those four guys in the Warp.

Considering his energy consumption was somewhat excessive and not wanting to fight those four guys again, Zeke gave them a single sentence.

"Next time, for sure.

Next time, I definitely won't intervene."

The four Chaos Gods looked at each other in the Warp.

Nurgle slowly scratched his rotting head: "He said that last time too..."

Khorne furiously smashed his brass throne: "Liar! Liar! This human is more deceitful than Tzeentch!"

Tzeentch touched his now painstakingly reassembled body and then said: "Everything is going according to plan."

Slaanesh, meanwhile, lay languidly on his throne, licking his lips: "Actually... he looks quite sexy when he hits people..."

The other three gods simultaneously turned their heads, looking at her with eyes that saw a pervert.

In the real universe, Cadia's crisis was temporarily averted.

But this was only temporary; Zeke had only intervened to block one bombardment from the Blackstone Fortress, and the Blackstone Fortress could fire again after recharging.

The Imperial Army on planet Cadia, upon seeing the sudden activation of the shields and the massive psychic shield, all knelt on the ground and shouted.

"Emperor of Mankind protect us!"

They believed that the Emperor of Mankind had once again intervened to protect them.

Of course, in fact, there was no difference, as Zeke himself was the Emperor of Mankind.

His intervention to protect them could also be said to be the Emperor of Mankind protecting them.

However, the war still needed to continue, and the Blackstone Fortress had to be dealt with first; Zeke currently did not have a battleship with him.

Without a battleship, achieving a devastating blow against such a gigantic warship with just his patrol squad consisting of cruisers, destroyers, and frigates was clearly insufficient.

At this point, there was only one method left for Zeke: boarding.

Suddenly, he understood why the Imperium of Man in Warhammer liked boarding.

After all, when they were bombarding each other, it was really difficult to destroy enemy warships, and this was also true for the Terran Dominion at this time.

If the firepower of cruisers and destroyers couldn't completely destroy the Blackstone Fortress, then boarding was the only option, and Zeke was indeed quite interested in this fortress.

After all, the creators of these fortresses remain a mystery to this day, so Zeke truly wanted to take this thing apart and study it.

At this moment, he would leverage the unique feature of Warhammer, boarding, to capture this ship; the Blackstone Fortress was his!
