Chapter 139 - Railgun

Titus's sudden psychic awakening made his comrades look at him with surprise; this was the Imperium of Man.

The Imperium of Man had all sorts of messy ideas about psychic awakeners.

At the same time, this was also a battlefield, and precisely because it was a battlefield, they merely glanced at Titus and then continued to throw themselves into the fight.

While psychic powers might make Space Marines more susceptible to chaos corruption, they could also more easily eliminate the Tyranid Swarm at this moment.

Before Titus's powerful psychic abilities, the Tyranid Swarm were like small fry tossed into a shredder.

They were instantly pulverized, dissipating into the world like dust.

Such a sight made the Imperium's warriors look on in astonishment.

It was a terrifying scene, yet what he was destroying was the Tyranid Swarm, which left the Imperium's soldiers somewhat at a loss.

However, Titus's reaction was clearly faster than theirs; although he didn't know why he had suddenly awakened psychic powers, he still made the most direct response!

"Advance towards the orbital cannon! Reclaim it!"

With two Space Marines as the spearhead, two companies from Cadia began to attack alongside Titus, moving towards the orbital cannon.

Leman russ battle tanks covered the warriors' assault.

Perhaps everyone has grown accustomed to Zeke mobilizing a million Space Marines from an entire legion for battle, sometimes overlooking that Space Marines, even alone, possess formidable combat power.

Now, Titus began to display the immense power of a space marine; powerful psychic abilities were showcased to their fullest extent on him, regardless of any tyranid unit, be it a hive lord or a tyranid warrior.

This series of Tyranid Swarm elite units were virtually no match for Titus.

His powerful psychic energy even directly swept away all surrounding Tyranid Swarm, inflicting devastating blows on any unit attempting to approach Titus.

"Advance! Advance! For Mankind!"

Blue psychic flames swirled around Titus; each step he took left burning footprints on the ground.

His chainsword no longer required physical contact; psychic energy extended the blade into an energy edge several meters long, and wherever it passed, the Tyranid Swarm fell like stalks of wheat.

"The Emperor protects!" Cadia soldiers exclaimed, following behind the psychically awakened space marine. They had never witnessed such a sight.

They had never imagined such a powerful Astartes could exist.

The Tyranid Swarm were perfectly harvested before the Astartes like wheat.

Space Wolf Warrior Tokbo followed closely beside Titus, his power axe covered in tyranid ichor. "Brother, you..." He trailed off.

"Now is not the time to discuss this," Titus's voice, resonant with psychic power, became deep and ethereal. "Reclaim the orbital cannon. As for the rest... after the battle."

Raven Guard Kartula emerged from the shadows.

He was also startled when he saw Titus, but quickly plunged into battle. As a member of the Raven Guard, his acceptance of psychic powers was somewhat higher.

Upon appearing, the Raven Guard began clearing the Tyranid Swarm in front of them with their bolters, preparing to meet Titus and his group.

With the Space Marines at the core, combined with the attack launched by those formidable Cadia forces, even the Tyranid Swarm felt somewhat fatigued.

When this small detachment stormed into the building housing the orbital cannon, the defeat of the Tyranid Swarm was already sealed.

In a confined battlefield, the combat power of Space Marines could be maximized.

At the same time, the numerical advantage of the Tyranid Swarm could not be effectively utilized, coupled with the psychic attacks emanating from Titus.

Titus essentially went on a rampage; wherever he went, the local Tyranid Swarm would be wiped out by his powerful psychic abilities beforehand.

This made the advance of this small detachment incredibly smooth, a blessing from two Emperors.

The Emperor is brave and wise.

Because of the blessing of the two Chosen of the Emperor, Titus had virtually no rivals here; whether it was a Broodlord, a hive Lord, or those Hormagaunts, they were no match for Titus.

After more than 10 minutes, the Tyranid Swarm inside the building were cleared, and Titus and the others arrived at the location of the orbital cannon to activate it.

Six orbital cannons were slowly reactivated and then aimed at the hive fleet, which had directly plunged into the planet's interior like a single tentacle.

"Fire! Let's blast a hole in the surface of these hive fleets as big as a frigate!"

The charging sound of the orbital cannon echoed in the control room, the energy indicator slowly climbing from dark red to blinding bright blue.

Titus stood before the control console, psychic flames dancing in his eyes, intermingling with the cold light of the machinery.

"Energy charging 90%... 95%..." The calm, mechanical voice of the servo-skull reported the numbers. "Target lock complete."

With a deafening roar, the massive energy cannon shells fired from the orbital cannon, several blue energy projectiles simultaneously heading towards the hive fleet mothership.

This is the color of loyal plasma!

A blinding green flash erupted in space; the mothership exploded like a burst abscess, biomass fragments scattering everywhere.

"Magnificent!"

"Warriors, we succeeded! We successfully bought more time for this planet."

"Governor, I am Titus. Please immediately send the planetary Defence Force to my location. We have recaptured the orbital cannon, and now we can resume our defense."

The planetary Governor of Keltaros was no ordinary man; upon hearing Titus's explanation of the situation, he immediately steeled himself and dispatched over a dozen regiments of the planetary Defence Force directly towards Titus's position.

For this planet to continue holding out, the orbital cannon had to remain in their hands.

This would effectively prevent the Tyranid Swarm from freely spewing their spores onto the planet, preventing their aerial spore drops from causing more damage to the Imperium's world.

For Keltaros, the immediate crisis had been averted. Now, they only needed to continue holding out and await reinforcements. With the orbital cannon, holding out for a few days should not be a problem.

As for the issue of armaments, that could only be solved by the factories of the hive city teams continuing to work overtime, for the Emperor of Mankind, for Mankind!

The production mechanism within the hive city had been completely changed to a 21-hour production schedule, meaning workers could rest for three hours, and the remaining time had to be spent working overtime on the production lines to produce enough supplies to resist the tyranids for the Imperium.

Although the Imperium's populace reacted differently to such an order being issued, they attempted to resist, and some even protested.

However, the threat of the Tyranid Swarm was immediate. The planetary Defence Force unhesitatingly suppressed them again.

If they worked on the production lines and produced enough supplies, then everyone still had a chance to survive.

If not enough supplies were produced, then being devoured by the Tyranid Swarm was incomparable to potentially dying of exhaustion on the production line.
