Chapter 3 - Princess

Author's Note: Writing is hard. PCs breaking is annoying.

I'll probably write a bit far from canon because of my lack of knowledge. Know the one writing isn't an expert.

By the way…don't think about anything too lewd. MC is rather 'young'.

Hmm…Oooh…Umu Umu…Interesting…Wow…Astonishing…And whatever other words can be used to express interest.

I was currently sneaking around Hyperion. Cool ship, very big and all that. High tech. Very cool, very cool.

Today has been very cool overall.

The red haired woman's name was apparently Himeko Mutara or something like that. She's cool. I decided that I'll call her Hime until a better nickname is found.

She explained that this 'Honkai' thing is what caused the not-zombie apocalypse.

『Honkai』 or Houkai as they call it, means Collapse or Decay. And that is an accurate way to describe it, as it seems to be a sort of…Hmm. Hime called it a cataclysm that only wants to destroy humanity, or rather, civilization.

It appears as an Energy which can zombify people, and can make those Beasts from it too. They were just called Honkai Beasts. I mean, it works and all, but…a bit more unique name could bring a lot of charm to them? Compare them to the other thing that can come from Honkai, Herrschers. The naming sense differs far and wide.

A 『Herrscher』 is Sovereign or Lawmaker. An "envoy, or rather apostle of the Honkai, who inhabit human vessels that are capable of adapting to its power." Basically? They're…Uh…Gods, but not really divine. They even have 'Domains' just like, let's say, Hades is Afterlife. Except they just seem to be Anti-Civilization apparently, instead of having personalities based on their Domains.

Apparently they aren't all 'bad' or 'Anti-human' but Hime didn't really expand on it.

Anyhow, Mei, which is how you actually spell her name apparently instead of the fifth month, is the Third Herrscher. Thunder is her 'Authority', so she is called the Herrscher of Thunder.

She apparently had a bit of a breakdown after bullying, got superpowers, got defeated by Kiana, and now has two wolves inside her. One wolf is the herrscher, the other is her sheer desire to let Kiana and Bronya be safe.

Yeah, she ain't sneaky with those concerned looks. The only one that didn't notice was Kiana, but that's because she was busy being cute and dumb. I wouldn't be surprised if she decided to do something stupid…unfortunately my lack of memory, thus context, prevents me from guessing. I mean, Herrschers should be impervious to all 'normal' damage, right? Or is this me comparing them to Gods again? Hmm…

Hmm…

HMM…

"What are you doing?" GAH!

I'll admit, I jumped at the sudden voice. Turning around, I saw the one I happened to be thinking about, Hime/ko. And she had a can of beer in her hand and changed into a more casual outfit. "And why aren't you resting? You four were supposedly tired after all that happened."

…Oh yeah. I forgot about that. We got put into a room after all and told to sleep after Mei got checked.

"To be fair, that was mostly said by Kiana because she didn't feel like explaining things, deep down knowing her abilities to do so would be sub-par and not up to the task." I said with a 'smile', definitively not saying this because Kiana called me Bakamiya earlier. "And I slept for quite a bit under the rubble and have been awake for only…two, maybe three hours? Sure, I was doing things during those hours, but it's not that much."

"Right…they did say earlier that they found you under some rubble and you weren't shy about saying you just made up your name on the spot…" She muttered, then noticed me staring at her hand. "What? Want some?"

"Of course I do. You seem to like it, so I too want to taste it." I said very obviously, to the point that it could be called mocking. Did I actually want one? Eh…maybe. But at the moment, I couldn't help but feel like something was…'different' about this woman. She had this desperate feeling about her that could only be associated with someone that knows they'd die young. "So, can I get one?"

"...No. I don't think you can." She smirked, making me shrug. Not like it really mattered. "Since you're not very tired at all, how about a bit of a spar then?"

…Oh, this is gonna be good.

A certain "Queen of Thunder" was now walking through the hallways of hyperion

She couldn't sleep.

…No, she was afraid of what she would see once she did. Was it any wonder however? If she hadn't let herself breakdown like that…if she hadn't become a herrscher, the people in Nagazora would still be alive.

…She can't even be sure what happened to her father either. Only hope that he was moved away, as far away as possible. If not…If not…

No, she shouldn't think about that stuff! What if the herrscher wakes up again because of it?!

Sighing, Mei just kept walking. It was an unpleasant headache. Even now, she…in a way regretted that she wasn't faster in her jump.

She kept walking…and walking. Getting lost not only in the ship but in her thoughts too…until she heard the sounds of fighting. Curious, and a little concerned, she moved towards the source. Soon enough…She came across a battle.

Okay, maybe that's not the right word. Less of a battle, more of a spar.

Himeko-san and Emiya-san were exchanging blows. Himeko, with a greatsword, and Emiya, with those blades from earlier. Neither seemed very tired, with the ashen-haired girl mostly dodging and parrying while the redhead swung the large blade. While Emiya-san was on the defense, Mei felt like she was taking this less seriously than Himeko-san.

Dodge, duck, slash, it went on for a while with Emiya-san doing…weird things. Her stances were very odd. Due to practicing with the sword with…ehem, she knew this and that. Which is why it looked suicidal. So many spots shit could try hitting, it was concerning. Except she somewhat made it work, even if it was a bit awkward. How to explain it…it felt like she herself wasn't used to the style and used it on instinct. But that's not how it works, so Mei assumes it must be her imagination.

"..."

Seeing them fight like this…it made her think. Himeko-san earlier said that if all goes well, they might end up as her students. So…she too would have to train like that too. Which means there won't be any problem with observing.

…Maybe she should get some water for them too?

Slashing through air, Himeko and I continued moving. My blades, the copies of Kanshou and Bakuya, would have already been broken had I not…'reinforced' them a bit with one of the energies inside my soul. Not tearing it on all sides this time by unknowingly guiding…uh… "Multiple Dicks into the same pussy at once" is a great metaphor for my previous accidental attempt at using all energies at once.

…For some reason, I feel like I should never say that outloud.

"You don't seem to like using those blades all that much." Hime says while almost stabbing into my stomach if not for my parry.

Archer, you were a suicidal bastard. I am 90% sure that this style came from him. It fits how he acted too damn well. I didn't notice it beforehand because…I was fighting a 'Monster', not a human. But the way I fight is basically High-Risk High-Reward.

"That's all I have, so…" I said as I parried another strike before trying to sweep her legs.

"You'll be able to switch to something else at St. Freya." She gave me a sweep back, making me land on my hands and jump back on my feet.

"Sure. A spear would be great."

We continued the spar for a good bit, with it eventually getting a bit stale.

"Wanna increase the difficulty a little?" I asked as I paused, smirking, something that made her raise an eyebrow.

"Sure."

"『Overedge』"

The blades twist into something closer to swords as the words leave my mouth, with me speeding up as well. Using the momentary surprise, I of course go for the head with Bakuya. Blocked. I try to slash at her hip with Kanshou. She dodged, I moved closer. Strike after strike, not letting her gain advantage even as she herself stopped holding back a little.

Eventually, I push her greatsword away with my right, and my left ends up with a blade to her throat.

"..." She stared at it, some sweat on her forehead.

"..." I smirked, not adding any words as I put the blade away and let it crumble.

"...Not bad, kid."

"You're holding back anyway, so it doesn't mean much."

"We'll see about that eventually."

In the end, both of us relaxed. To me, it was a good fight. For her…hmm. I'm not sure. I don't know her well enough to guess her thoughts, but she certainly seemed impressed. Go me!

Suddenly I heard footsteps and a voice behind me. "Would you two like some water?"

"Mei? I thought you were gonna sleep." I said, scratching the back of my head. "Thanks though…" Taking the water, I looked at her. Is she like me, not even that tired? Cause if so, impressive. She did do more things than me, considering the fact that I took a nap…suddenly I feel like I'm being mocked somewhere. But we're the only ones here.

"Thank you, Mei." Hime thanked her as well, though I didn't miss the look of concern she gave her. Hmm. Hmmmmmm…

…I just realized, between me, Mei and Hime…I'm the small one. This is unacceptable. If it'll continue like this, even Bronya might outgrow me…

Nah, that seems unlikely. She seems like the type to be short forever.

"Are you two hungry? I could make something to eat…ah…if you show me the way to the kitchen, Himeko-san." Mei said, and I'm not gonna lie, she had me at make.

I've heard Kiana say a lot of good things about Mei's food. Like, she was praising it to high heaven. Perhaps she is saying praise because she wants to be on Mei's side, but Bronya too has praised it…

Actually, neither of them are very reliable. However, I have faith.

"It would be appreciated…" "Sure…?"

Himeko is unfortunately not a believer, but that's fine…we'll find out how good it is soon.

I then paused as a sound echoed in my ears. "...do you guys hear running?"

They both paused, blinking and listening in. I walked closer to the corner of the corridor only to-

"MEI-SENPAI!"

Clash with a tuna-, I mean girl, and almost fall over.

"Oi, don't run around corners."

"My Mei-senses were tingling!"

Huh?

"Mei was definitely about to cook!"

Huh?!

"Were you trying to steal Mei's food from me!?"

What-?

"No, were you trying to steal Mei from me!? I won't allow it!"

…I miss the time when she was asleep already.

Chapter finished…or something. If you want a reason for why it took so long for so little, first, look at the AN at the beginning, then let me tell you…

You expect creativity and motivation? In this economy?

I hope you enjoyed. See you next time, hopefully.
