Hearing Day - Valmont Courthouse - 9 AM
I woke up at 5 AM.
Not by choice. Out of anxiety.
Bella was sleeping peacefully in her crib. Enzo was beside me, also awake.
"Didn't you sleep?" I asked.
"A little." He admitted. "You?"
"Not at all."
We lay there in silence. Hands intertwined.
"It'll be alright." Enzo finally said. "Elena, regardless of the decision... it'll be alright. Because we're prepared. United. And focused on what matters: Bella."
"I know. But still..."
"I know." He pulled me into a hug. "I'm nervous too. But I don't let nervousness turn into panic. And you can't either. Today, we are parents defending our daughter's best interests. We are not victims. We are not warriors. Parents. Okay?"
"Okay."
At 6 AM, Bella woke up. Crying.
Morning routine: breastfeeding, changing, playing.
Normalcy on an abnormal day.
Carmen prepared breakfast. But none of us managed to eat much.
