Year 850
—Continuation of Day 9—
After playing tag with their targeted titan inside the Forest of Big Trees. Erwin, Levi and Shiyo looked down at the titan they captured, it appeared to be a female making Shiyo widen her eyes in surprise, in her years of fighting titans beyond the walls, she hadn't encountered a female titan before, this was truly a rare sight to her. As she was observing it, Levi ordered her to cut its fingers with Mike to reveal its nape, she merely obeyed the order and got into position. She prepared her blades and launched the attack, attempting to slice its fingers off but then their blades shattered after hitting a somewhat hard surface on the titan's skin. The two attackers retreated, Shiyo landing beside Levi.
Levi narrowed his eyes on the titan, getting annoyed and impatient. He then transferred his look at Shiyo beside her who had blood running down from the cut on the side of her lips, he let out a 'tch' before handing her his handkerchief that he takes everywhere "You have a cut... Wipe it off, it's disgusting." He told her that made her touch her own chin and there she saw blood dripping down.
She immediately took the piece of cloth and wiped it on her chin and lips "Thank you, captain. The shattered pieces of the blade probably cut me..." She said as she looked at him while wiping her own face and saw that he was staring at her "Could you stop staring at me please? It makes me uncomfortable..." She then bluntly told her captain with an uncomfortable yet teasing look.
"I wasn't, shitty carrothead!" He said defensively, slowly getting tired of his soldier's shits considering that they're in the middle of a mission, he clicked his tongue at her before telling her to focus on the mission and so they did.
Shiyo watched as Levi went and stood on top of the titan's head, she heard him threaten it a bit which made the titan scream for its life making the soldiers nearby cover their ears. Not soon after that loud scream it did, Mike came in towards Erwin, telling him that titans are coming from all the directions, it could only mean that they've been surrounded by a herd of titans. That information alerted Shiyo making her draw her blades out, preparing to fight. She then felt rumbling around the area and there she saw countless titans running towards the female titan, ignoring the soldiers in front of them. The commander then ordered all the soldiers to engage in battle with the herd in order to protect the female titan.
Shiyo flew around, quickly slashing multiple titans in one go "They're ignoring us! Are they aberrants?!" Shiyo shouted with her eyes widened, shocked by this occurrence. But then she realized something as she saw the titans eating the female one, there she understood the enemy's objective "Could it be that it could control the titans by its scream..?" She whispered to herself before looking around the area for a potential person to be escaping in the middle of this chaos but the steam was too thick for her to be able to see a thing.
It was a minute before Erwin commanded them to pull back and retreat without any gains, he looked visibly devastated as he was trying to think things through, and then something clicked in his mind that gave him an idea. He looked at Shiyo and Levi beside him who were the strongest soldiers yet among the scouts "Fill up your gases, you two." He then ordered which confused the two but still eventually obeyed the orders.
They began retreating, Erwin rode his horse as Shiyo and Levi flew through the trees with their Vertical Maneuver. After minutes of navigating through the trees, they then heard a loud scream coming from the opposite direction they were going. They recognised the voice as Eren's titan form making them turn their tracks around almost immediately, they flew towards the voice at a high speed until they came across a slaughter scene. Shiyo took a look at the corpses and immediately recognised them. Gunther, Eld, Olou, and Petra, the corpses of her friends that she came across. Levi and Shiyo both left that place with a blank expression on their faces before completely arriving at the scene where they saw a certain girl chasing after that female titan.
"Is that... A rookie?" Shiyo asked before they flew at full speed to catch up on the girl and pulled her back a few distances from the titan. Shiyo took a good look at her face and she immediately recognised her as the trainee who was steady at the balancing test, Mikasa Ackerman.
Mikasa on the other hand was on edge "What were you doing?! Eren got taken away! You're supposed to protect him!" She shouted at them that earned a look from the female soldier.
Shiyo glared at her with her eyes darkened, what Mikasa said greatly offended her considering that her friends already gave their lives up just to protect Eren "Listen rookie, my friends already died while protecting your damn friend. You're going to follow our orders and trust us if you want to save Eren."
Mikasa stayed silent, feeling bad about what she said. They all continued on pursuing the female titan and formed a plan to slow it down and take the opportunity to retrieve Eren from its mouth. Shiyo took out her blades, preparing to fight, and with a quick signal from her captain, they engaged with the female titan, charging at it at full speed. Mikasa watched in shock at how agile and quick they were, they slashed it in different areas not giving the titan any time to react.
"They're good... They seem to have chemistry with each other that makes them in sync with their attacks..." Mikasa whispered to herself as she watched her seniors do the job, but then she saw an opening at the titan's nape that led her to charge at it without even thinking.
Levi took notice of the rookie's action and watched her as she was about to charge at the nape, but then the titan suddenly moved its arms in an attempt to catch the rookie making Shiyo fly at them at full speed, pushing Mikasa out of the way that left her to be the target instead.
Levi's eyes widened at his soldier's sudden actions "Shiyo!" He shouted at her as he went flying towards them, attempting to save his soldier but he was too far back and couldn't make it in time until suddenly, someone came in with a blink of an eye and slashed the titan's fingers, preventing it from grabbing a hold of Shiyo. Levi looked at the person and to his shock, it was his siste
