Night descended over East City, blanketing the streets in a restless silence. A thin mist crept through the alleys, carrying with it a strange, metallic scent — blood.
Somewhere beneath the city, inside an abandoned subway tunnel, a black vortex spun slowly in the air. The faint hum of ancient demonic energy echoed across the concrete walls.
A clawed hand emerged from the darkness.
Then came a voice — low, hoarse, and filled with malice.
"After all these centuries… I've found the trace of the Heavenly Sword Immortal."
The creature stepped out — Elder Mo, once Lin Tian's enemy in the cultivation realm, now reborn in the mortal world. His body was partially human, but his eyes glowed red, and dark runes pulsed beneath his skin.
He inhaled the city air and smiled wickedly.
"So this is Earth… a realm without spiritual resistance. Perfect for spreading my demonic roots."
He raised his hand, releasing a wave of corrupted qi. The tunnel lights flickered, rats fled in terror, and the temperature dropped sharply.
Above, the city's residents shivered, unaware of the ancient evil awakening beneath their feet.
Meanwhile, Lin Tian stood by his apartment window, sipping tea calmly. Yet his senses were sharp — every fluctuation of qi in a hundred-mile radius was within his grasp.
Suddenly, his expression darkened.
"That aura… demonic essence?"
[Ding!]
System Alert: High-level demonic energy detected one kilometer east of host location.
Recommendation: Avoid direct confrontation until cultivation base is stabilized.
Lin Tian chuckled coldly. "Avoid? When the demons crawl from hell, it is the duty of a cultivator to cut them down."
He grabbed a wooden practice sword leaning against the wall. Though seemingly ordinary, Lin Tian infused it with his newly restored qi. The blade shimmered faintly — a mortal weapon turned divine for a fleeting moment.
At the same time, Su Mengyao walked home from her part-time job, the night unusually quiet. She wrapped her jacket tighter as a strange chill ran down her spine.
Her phone flickered — the screen glitching as if a magnetic field distorted it.
"Hello? What's wrong with the signal…" she murmured.
Then she heard it — a low growl from the shadows.
A pair of red eyes gleamed at the end of the alley.
The creature stepped forward — a humanoid beast covered in black scales, its mouth filled with sharp fangs.
"Found you…" it hissed. "The girl blessed by heavenly aura."
Su Mengyao stumbled back, terror gripping her. The air grew heavy — she couldn't breathe.
Before the beast could strike, a blur descended from the rooftops.
CRACK!
The creature flew backward, smashing into a wall. Lin Tian landed gracefully, his robe fluttering despite the still air.
"Demons truly have no sense of timing," he said coolly. "You dare appear in front of me?"
The creature roared, recovering from the blow. "Lin Tian! Even in this world, you dare stand against me?"
"So you still remember my name," Lin Tian said, eyes narrowing. "Then you remember your fate."
He slashed the wooden sword — a flash of silver light cut through the darkness. The energy wave split the ground, pure qi burning through demonic miasma.
The demon screamed, writhing in agony. But before Lin Tian could deliver the final blow, the creature's body dissolved into smoke, vanishing into the ground.
[Ding!]
Alert: Entity has escaped through an unstable dimensional rift.
Host incomplete cultivation unable to pursue.
Lin Tian frowned. "He escaped… but now I know. Elder Mo is here."
Su Mengyao collapsed to her knees, trembling. "W-what was that thing… and you… how did you…?"
Lin Tian turned toward her, his expression softening slightly. "Some truths cannot be explained yet. But know this—your life is bound to forces beyond this world."
As he turned to leave, the moonlight reflected in his eyes — not of a student, but of an immortal reborn.
Su Mengyao whispered to herself, voice barely audible:
"Who… are you really, Lin Tian?"
Far away, in the depths of the demonic realm, a shadowy council gathered.
"The Immortal lives," Elder Mo growled. "But his power is fractured."
"Then destroy him before he regains it," another voice hissed. "Earth shall be our new battlefield."
Elder Mo's eyes burned with hatred.
"This time, Lin Tian… I will not fail."
