Chapter 7 - Mystical Teacher Shuining

Jin Luo had actually heard about this teacher named Shen Shuining. The long retired, rehired No. 72 Phoenix Ridge top teacher! She had once nurtured students with Golden Core potential. Unfortunately, those students hadn't even broken the stage, even now.

But that wasn't on Teacher Shuining.

As it goes, a master can only lead you to the door. But in the end, you're the one that has to open it. If you don't work hard in cultivating, who is to blame?

After countless failed cases, Teacher Shuining drew the final straw with Phoenix Head of Excellence— Xue Feng.

Yes, Xue Feng who had defeated the Star-Absorbing Dragon, had graduated from No. 72 Phoenix Ridge and was a student of Teacher Shuining.

With this alone, Teacher Shuining gained the respect and trust from almost all the teachers there, despite being the lowest qualifications behind other teachers— she enjoyed the best treatment...

Jin Luo was just hoping at this point.

For her not to notice or bother him. After all, he is trying his absolute hardest to be transparent!

Like most classroom teachers, her eyes and ears were sharp.

For example, she was able to hear the students' chatter from all the way from her office.

Another would be, when she was walking down the corridor, she saw the other students in Prodigy Class 2 attentively working on their assignments. This made her all the more pissed.

So, Teacher Shuining was very angry.

"This year marks my seventieth year teaching at this school! Out of all the classes I've taught... this one is the worst!"

As the most difficult female teacher in the history of No. 72 Phoenix Ridge, naturally, no one dared utter a word to provoke Ms Shuining. Obviously, Lin Qian would be an exception, but Teacher Shuining isn't that retarded to provoke her without reason.

Ms Shuining didn't actually know any students in the classroom, so she picked one she could make an example of.

"Which one is Jin Luo?"

Jin Luo was startled as he heard his name being called; what was about to go down!?

Teacher Shuining: "It was you! I heard your voice from the corridor just now!"

Jin Luo: "... I..—"

"Silence! Utter even a single word and I won't hesitate to call your parents over for a meeting! Same as for all of you! Everyone, settle down!"

Jin Luo: "..."

These are the normal acts in class. As the quiet and relaxed student in the class, Jin Luo always caught himself in trouble unwillingly.

Jin Luo remembered that the most recent incident, was at Qi preparation class where he had directly summoned 0.1% of a gamma ray burst from outer space which caused the sports field to be suspended for a whole year...

Fortunately, Jin Luo has learned how to control his emotions.

...

Teacher Shuining's main course is summoning and talismans preparation. In addition to teaching talismans' fundamentals, she would also teach basic summoning spells.

Spirit paper, spirit ink, spirit water, cinnabar and a writing brush are the five necessities during this procedure.

For prodigy class, the pace is faster compared to other classes. In just the first class, Teacher Shuining already presented the five ingredients and started the lesson. "Alright. This'll be your first class today. I'm not sure if either of you have drawn talismans before, so pay attention since I'll move quickly. Now, I will teach you how to draw a spirit-attracting talisman."

As the name described, a Soul-Summoning Talisman is a talisman namely used for ghosts. This one belongs to the summoning category and is quite easy to learn.

As she spoke, Teacher Shuining made the talisman while using the spirit paper with efficiency and effortlessly picked up the writing brush.

Everyone watched as Teacher Shuining expertly drew on the yellow talisman, seemingly scribbling a few strokes. The base of the talisman was complete. All that was left was to gather her spirit energy and infuse it in the talisman to launch it skyward...

The soul-calling talisman that was originally floating in the void suddenly came forth and burst into a radiant light.

Everyone could see a transparent silhouette ftoating in the empty air.

Teacher Shuining pointed at the bluish-gray mass and said sternly, "I've controlled the output of my spirit energy so what your seeing is a ghost from the other realm. These ghosts are harmless, and for beginners, are the best choice. Usually, beginners cannot precisely control the output of their spirit energy and would summon a killing-intent ghost. Don't worry though, if anything unexpected happens, I'll be here to take care of it. However, since I have taught you how to summon it, I will briefly explain how to exorcise it."

As Teacher Shuining spoke, she dipped her writing brush in the spirit ink and stroked in between the ghost's eyebrows.

In an instant, the ghost let out a wrenching fading scream as it dispersed into the light.

"Whoa.... She really did it!"

"She really is a natural!"

Hearing the commotion, she briefly cleared her throat and explained. "The reason why this works, is because using a cinnabar-dipped brush to draw between a ghost's eyebrows seals its spiritual eye, cutting off its yin energy, and exorcises its lingering essence... This is by far the most effective method."

With a wave of her hand, she summoned multiple of these ingredients and they floated to each of their desks.

"Now. Let's see what you all can do."

At that moment, the class burst into activity as different ghosts were summoned.

The spirit summoned by Lin Qian was a dead senior that killed himself in the very classroom years back.

Zhou Hao, this energetic feline, summoned Han Xin, who was executed by Express Lü after being accused of treason. He was beheaded thus the ghost's floating head.

Han Ye, summoned a dog. Not just any dog, just a dog with no flesh and skin! It looked wary as a blue aura formed around it.

Little Mochi, the class study representative, summoned something unbearable...

This representative is pure in heart, so pure in fact that Jin Luo couldn't even read his mind!

The surrounding crowd gasped in astonishment: "..."

At last, almost every student summoned something via Teacher Shuining's instructions.

But for Jin Luo...

These skills, that Teacher Shuining presented, are not one ounce difficult for Jin Luo. He probably knew more about talismans than the school combined.

The thing that frightened him the most was that he could not precisely control the output of his spiritual energy.

Staring at the five main ingredients before him, Jin Luo was contemplating...

At his level, who knows what he could summon?
