Chapter 21 - Black World Ash’s Furious Strike — The Power of the Rainbow Wing!

In the Black World—

Damian once again spewed out those same vile words he had said in White World Ash's world—words that made everyone's blood boil.

"Charmander? Of course I had one! But that thing was way too weak."

"Couldn't even beat a Poliwag! What use is a loser like that?"

"So I tossed it. But the stupid thing came crawling back."

"I told it to sit there and wait for me—I said I'd come back soon. And that idiot actually wagged its tail and waited! Hahaha!"

"Now that it's raining like this… I wonder if that tail flame of his has gone out yet~"

Ash's hand clenched tight around his Pokédex. His heart pounded violently against his ribs.

In his eyes—

a terrifying fury ignited.

What… did he just say?

He abandoned Charmander?

"That bastard! It's pouring outside—Charmander could die out there with how weak it looked!"

Misty couldn't hold back her anger, shouting as she turned toward the window in worry.

Knowing Charmander's loyal nature, he would still be waiting faithfully on that rock—

and in this kind of rain… things were dire.

Without a word, Ash stood up, walked straight to Damian,

grabbed him by the collar, and yanked him off the couch.

With one swift motion, he slammed him to the ground.

"Who—who the hell—?! OW!"

Damian screamed as pain shot through him, but Ash didn't give him even a second to recover.

He hauled him back up by the front of his shirt, his eyes burning like fire.

"Why?! If you didn't want to care for a Pokémon, why catch it at all?!"

"Why lie to it?! Do you have any idea what that means to them?! Do you know that one single promise could make a Pokémon wait for you until it dies?!"

His roar shook the entire Pokémon Center.

Nurse Joy rushed out from behind the counter, startled by the commotion.

"What's going on here?! Stop it right now! If you fight inside the Pokémon Center, I'll have to call Officer Jenny!"

But Ash didn't stop.

He threw Damian down again—and drove his fist straight into his face.

Crack!

Two teeth flew out as Damian's cheek instantly swelled, blood spilling from his nose and mouth.

Ash stood over him, trembling with rage.

"Let's go, Misty, Brock."

Ignoring the unconscious Damian on the floor, Ash grabbed his raincoat and dashed into the storm with his friends.

They had only one goal now—

to save Charmander.

Lance: Beautiful! That punch—absolutely deserved!

Brock: I never thought calm, collected Black World Ash could be that violent…

Cynthia: The calm ones are always the scariest when their bottom line is crossed.

Bruno: Exactly. Damian touched Black World Ash's Achilles' heel. To him, there's nothing more sacred than a Pokémon's trust—and Charmander was a Pokémon he felt a bond with.

Ash: Violence isn't good… but honestly? I think that other me did the right thing. I wanted to punch that guy too, back then—but I hesitated…

The image of Black World Ash's punch—the one that shattered Damian's teeth—

should have been brutal.

Yet no one watching thought it was wrong.

Even the Champions applauded.

Because that single punch…

was justice.

In the Black World—

Rain poured in heavy sheets as Ash, Misty, and Brock raced back toward the rocky clearing.

There, huddled beneath a single broad leaf, was the small, trembling Charmander—

its tail flame flickering weakly, nearly extinguished.

Just as they'd feared—

Charmander was still there.

They sprang into action.

One held Charmander close.

One shielded its tail flame from the rain.

One covered its body to keep it warm.

But the flame was fading fast.

It was right on the edge of going out.

Ash's chest tightened—panic and sorrow clashing within him.

There had to be something he could do!

Then suddenly—

a thought struck him.

"Wait—hold on!"

He stopped in his tracks, rummaged frantically through his backpack—

and pulled out a radiant feather that shimmered in every color of the rainbow.

"Ash… what is that?" Brock asked, astonished.

Ash didn't waste time explaining.

This was the Rainbow Wing—

the feather of Ho-Oh, the Phoenix of Life(Rainbow Pokémon).

A being of both Fire and Life, its essence overflowed with vitality.

If this feather truly carried its divine energy… then maybe—

"Please, Ho-Oh. You gave me this feather as a gift."

"If it really is your blessing—then let me use it now. Save this small life before me…"

His words came out like a prayer, whispered into the storm.

He didn't stop running, didn't stop holding Charmander close—

but as he prayed, the Rainbow Wing began to glow brighter.

Then—

it responded.

A dazzling light burst forth, seven-colored radiance streaming from the feather into Charmander's tiny body.

And then—

The flame on Charmander's tail flared back to life, brighter than before.

"It worked! Come on—let's hurry and get him to the Pokémon Center!"

Though Charmander's flame had reignited, he was still unconscious—

they had to get him treated immediately.

The three of them ran on through the storm, hearts pounding, cradling the faintly breathing Pokémon in their arms.

Professor Oak: Hm? So the Rainbow Wing has that kind of power?

Professor Oak: Though it makes sense… Ho-Oh embodies both fire and life energy—exactly what Charmander needed at that moment!

Lance: That's Black World Ash for you—staying calm under pressure and remembering what he has at hand!

Blaine: So this Charmander… it's the same Charizard I battled later, isn't it? I always wondered why it behaved that way—now I see.

Ash: You mean why it wouldn't listen to me back then? Well, that was more because I wasn't a good enough Trainer yet~

Blaine: No, I meant its size. Your Charizard's smaller than a typical one—probably due to the injuries it suffered as a Charmander.

Author's Note

Let's clear up a few questions from the comment section lately:

First, about whether Black World Ash and White World Ash are two separate worlds—

You can say yes… or no.

Think of it like that Doraemon episode, where Nobita used a gadget to see the possible outcomes of his choices.

One choice leads to one future, another leads to a different one.

The White World Ash world follows the main anime timeline—

while the Black World Ash world shows what would happen if Ash's mindset had changed early on.

As for why his mindset did change—well… let's just say it's "by author's decree."

Some things just are. Like how "if you're killed, you die." Don't think too hard about it.

Now, about why only White World Ash's world seems to get rewards—

Remember, the livestream's audience perspective is from White World Ash's side.

The point isn't to rewrite the Black timeline—it's to let the viewers see what could've been.

The contrast serves two purposes:

To show the audience's reactions.

To fulfill the regrets of the original series.

Black World Ash's detailed journey will come later—

but his grand destiny is already set: the Champion of the Seven Leagues, the man who stands atop the world.

White World Ash, meanwhile, learns from witnessing that path.

The real reward isn't the livestream's gifts—it's understanding the road ahead.

He now knows what kind of Trainer he wants to be,

how to treat his Pokémon,

and how to value the people who care for him.

That realization—

that change of heart—

is the true prize.
