Chapter 16: A True Warrior.
"You know, why don't you say it?" Bibi Dong asked.
"What?" the old man asked, puzzled.
"Your Holiness, I'm just an old man who manages the library. The outside world has nothing to do with me."
Outside this library, he was just an ordinary old man. Only here was he a Spirit Hall elder respected by countless spirit masters.
So, ever since he first experienced this vanity, he had refused to leave!
This place was like a beautiful dream created for him by his ancestors, a false dream he would rather die in than return to the harsh reality.
And this dream would continue to be passed on, and after him, his descendants, generation after generation, would enjoy this heaven-fallen honor.
"You dare to confront Qian Daoliu, why are you so silent about this matter?" Bibi Dong asked angrily.
When she brought Yu Xiaogang in, this old man was right there!
He hadn't said a word! Not then, not since, and even now, he wouldn't say a word!
"Your Holiness, the High Priest won't kill me just for contradicting him at work," the old man sighed.
Having worked here for decades, he'd seen all sorts of people. He knew exactly who they were, what they said, what should and shouldn't be said, what could and couldn't be said.
His eyes were dim, but his mind wasn't.
His family had served the Spirit Hall diligently for thousands of years. Even if he'd just quibbled at work, or even just grumbled out of boredom, Qian Daoliu wouldn't have taken it personally. He'd simply assumed he'd been in this place too long and his mind had been muddled, and might even have given him a leave of absence.
But as for the others…
"…"
The old man fell silent, quietly sorting through the clutter of books.
Bibi Dong fell silent, too.
She understood.
Why didn't he speak up?
There was no need. Words can cause trouble.
Speaking out would upset everyone, and it wouldn't benefit him either.
It would offend her, and a direct descendant of the Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus Rex.
"So, you know, you all know, but no one is saying anything?" Bibi Dong asked.
"Your Holiness, I'm just an old man looking after the library. I haven't left the house in decades. I don't know what's happening in the outside world, nor do I care." The old man hastily distanced himself from the matter.
He did know, though, and he knew quite a bit.
He'd been managing the library in this haunted place for decades, his only pleasure being to listen to the gossip of those who came to read.
Besides, he was just an ordinary person; no one cared about his existence. The fact that they honored him as a senior was out
of respect for the Spirit Hall. He knew full well that the Spirit Masters respected the Spirit Hall, not him.
But he didn't care. Isn't this the only thing you live for?
Whether this reputation was real or fake wasn't important; it just looked good.
The same thing happened when that kid used the stuff here to scam people.
A Spirit Master theory that was successfully published under the Spirit Hall's control—you're refuting it?
My friend, you're not refuting the author.
You're refuting the Spirit Hall that allowed him to publish it, and the Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus Rex behind him!
Even if you succeeded, what would you gain?
Besides, it's not like just anyone could tell there was something wrong with it. An outsider wouldn't understand, and an expert would just watch and see.
You say there's something wrong with this thing? Spirit Hall didn't notice, Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus Rex didn't notice, and you did?
You're so awesome!
Just like the guy who dared to expose this in front of Bibi Dong today! You'retruly fearless!
A warrior! A true warrior!
He's lived his entire life, and this is the first time he's ever seen a true warrior!
...
"Sky Crystal Beast, transform!"
"Flame Sky Crystal!"
"Roar!!!"
In Flame Sky Crystal form, the entire body of the Sky Crystal Armor changed color. The breastplate glowed crimson, the light patterns on the arm guards flickered like flames, the chest and shin armor resembled a blazing fire, and the fiery patterns on the legs shone. Like lava, the flame armor closed around Nangong Yi.
The red crystal on the Sky Crystal blade flickered, unleashing a blaze that could set the whole field ablaze.
Bang, bang, bang!
Standard procedure, the Flame Sky Crystal was also covered with cracks.
"You actually question my courage?" Nangong Yi was speechless.
The previous Frost Justice Sky Crystal was considered the initial form. After all, those without a heart of justice could not wield the Sky Crystal. However, subsequent forms required the user to possess sufficient willpower to unleash these powers. The current Flame Sky Crystal required the utmost courage from the wielder.
Sky Crystal Beast had actually said he didn't have enough courage right now?
"I don't have the courage to unleash my ultimate power right in front of you?"
"..." Sky Crystal Beast.
You are indeed brave!
At that time, it thought that Bibi Dong was going to lose her temper!
Nangong Yi managed to control the woman's emotions to the point of exploding. He avoided direct provocation, but instead offered indirect hints, allowing her to form her own thoughts.
This way, the effect was achieved, and safety was guaranteed.
"Let's test the power of Flame Slash."
Nangong Yi began gathering strength again, channeling all his soul power into the Sky Crystal Sword.
A terrifyingly high temperature erupted from Nangong Yi's center. Simultaneously, a faint phantom of a fire dragon began to coalesce, circling him.
"Flame Slash!"
"Roar!!!"
The blazing fire dragon roared and flew out, hurtling towards the massive rock face ahead.
Boom!!!
The moment it touched the rock face, the entire fire dragon coalesced and exploded violently, blasting a massive crater in the wall.
"No, what the hell is this?"
Nangong Yi looked at the scene of his all-out attack with a look of disdain.
How could Flame Slash be so weak?
"Master, I'm already cracked and almost shattered!" the Sky Crystal Beast complained.
"It's good enough that you can unleash the Flame Slash! You still think it's too weak?"
As it spoke, the Sky Crystal Beast transformed into a stream of flames and returned to its original form.
"Tsk!" Nangong Yi looked at the Sky Crystal Beast with disdain.
"Before, I called you useless because you couldn't fight on your own, but now, you're truly useless!"
The Sky Crystal Beast's face was filled with resentment. "Master, we are one. When you scold me, you're also scolding yourself."
"Besides, isn't it you who caused me to become like this?"
The Sky Crystal's power was so immense that Nuwa split it into two: the Mother Sword and the Child Sword. Only when the two were united could they unleash their full power.
This was not only to prevent the Weapon Master from abusing the divine weapon's power, but also to protect the Weapon Master himself.
The power of the divine weapon was unbearable for a mortal body. Even the aftermath of the attack was enough to completely destroy a mortal.
But Nangong Yi, without the Child Sword and the Green Pearl, forced its full power to the limit. Even without the Primordial Heavenly Demon's interference, the weapon would have been on the verge of shattering! The Primordial Heavenly Demon's curse was merely the final straw that broke the mule's back!
If we really want to talk about the culprit, it has to be Nangong Yi!
