[Blood Diary Entry]
After my ears stopped ringing from my mother's scream, I noticed the furious look on her face and the curious one on Rebekah's.
Mother immediately stormed my way and started twisting my ears with so much strength that if I weren't a vampire, they would've been ripped off by now.
"Ow, ow, ow…" My pained cries echoed in the room.
"We left you alone for a couple of hours, and you come back with a tattoo? Is that why you wanted to be alone? To ink yourself like a common low life?"
"Ow, Mom, stop it! Let me explain…"
"Oh, I really want to hear this." Mother said with a hostile tone. "You better have a damn good explanation, mister, cause you're not going to like what's going to happen if you don't!"
"Okay, okay! Sit down and let go of me."
Mother narrowed her eyes and reluctantly let go.
Meanwhile, Rebekah was laughing at all of this.
The two sat on a couch, while I sat on a comfy chair, racking my head over how and what to tell them.
Because what occurred tonight was by no means something small, and I wager we'd better get the hell away from Chicago before people notice what went down.
I decided to hell with it and explained everything in minute detail.
By the end of it, the two had their jaws on the floor.
Mom almost fainted while Rebekah was massaging her temples.
"You were already a big enough anomaly… Now I really don't know what to make of you, Darian." Rebekah said, and I scratched the back of my head sheepishly, which didn't amuse her all that much. "Though I guess I should congratulate you on getting free of your locks. It was much sooner than I could've ever expected."
"Aha, thanks, I guess?"
"So now you can make more vampires of your species?" She asked.
"Theoretically, yes."
"What do you mean?"
"I can't just straight out do it, at least I don't feel like I can; my guess is that a 'ritual' of some sort is needed."
"So, like my brothers and me?"
"Something like that, yes."
One thing I noticed was that during this convo between Rebekah and me, Mom looked at me strangely for a split second but went back to normal straight after.
"Yeah, I agree with you, Darian… We can't stick around after all of this. People already knew Caine was here, so they must also know of his disappearance." Rebekah said.
"Oh? How so?"
Rebekah then explained what went on her side.
I raised an eyebrow at the mention of a familiar name.
Belmont…
Though I kept listening to the rest of her story, sometimes looking at my mother when Rebekah said how she 'instructed' my mother on supernatural politics.
Can't say I'm all that happy about the way she did things, but as long as Mother is fine, I'll stay out of it.
Mother got up from the couch and said she wanted to take a shower before we left because she reeked of alcohol.
Which she did by the way, and it was quite strong.
Rebekah started packing the stuff she got out of her bags while leaving a clean change of clothes aside, because she also wanted to shower.
I looked at her, noticing a few subtle changes in the way she carried herself.
"I take it your visit to Gloria's was more productive than what you told me before?" I said.
She paused briefly before going back to what she was doing. "Yeah… I managed to think about things and come to terms with others."
"And what did you come up with?" I asked curiously.
She didn't look at me, but I felt some hesitation from the vow, the feeling that now wasn't the time. "Not now, Darian. You already gave me too much to think about tonight." Then her voice dropped to almost a whisper. "Just… not right now. I want to talk, but not yet. Please."
I nodded and changed the subject. "What about that necklace of yours? Any idea of where it could be? It seems it's important to you."
She perked up at the new and easier topic of conversation. "I have no idea, even that bitch Gloria didn't know. And yes, it's important to me, it was my mother's, and I spent a lot of time with it, so I kind of grew attached to it."
"What about that one we found?"
She shook her head. "It's not the same."
"I see…" Then I leaned forward. "I have an idea where it is. A couple of them actually."
She looked at me, hope faintly shining in her eyes.
"It's a long shot, but I think it's either with your father, who I assume is the one who attacked you that night." Her eyes dimmed a bit, finding my idea somewhat reasonable.
Though the necklace wasn't actually with Mikael, I couldn't straight out say where it was. Across the many things I will share with her, there is but a single one I'll never tell a single soul in this world.
That in another reality, this was but a work of fiction. Although I never considered it as such. Because not only did I live 8 years oblivious to it, Sol'Vahr himself lived 2 billion years in a world where these 'fictional works' never bothered to describe.
So, I am quite unsure as to how fictional these things really are. And I'm sure as hell not going to treat this world full of living people like the afterthoughts of some author in another reality.
Rebekah herself had shown me sides of her that the show never did.
I looked at her downcast expression amusedly. "The second option would be the one who was nearest to you when it all went down."
She looked at me with confusion. "Who are you talking about?"
"A certain boring ancestor of mine."
She laughed. "I wouldn't describe Stefan as boring. But yeah, maybe it's with him… As you said, it's a long shot, but the possibility is there."
Not a possibility, though, the necklace is really with him. "Eager to go and see him?" I teased and half tested her reaction.
She looked at me knowingly. "No, not at all. Though I might send some of Niklaus's associates to track him down and take the necklace back, if it really is with him, that is."
I silently prayed for my ancestors' forgiveness. "Oof."
She giggled. "I'm surprised you're actually from his family. I thought the name was a coincidence."
"Coincidences are actually really rare and hard to come by."
"True," and then she looked at me fondly. "But I think I found myself the better Salvatore."
I blinked in surprise at her words. But before I could say anything, Mother got out of the bathroom, and Rebekah immediately hopped in, though not before winking playfully at me.
Mother looked at me inquisitively. "What were you talking about?"
I looked towards the windows. "Nothing. Just some casual talk."
That woman is going to be the death of me…
