Chapter 27 - Flame-Armored Rhinoceros, You Lost Big Time

The soul ring wrapped around Aos Qin's body, and at the same time a large amount of soul power surged into Aos Qin's body, rampaging through Aos Qin's meridians and bringing an intense tearing pain, causing Aos Qin to unconsciously let out a muffled groan of pain.

Seeing his younger brother's facial features twisted slightly from pain, Oscar hurriedly activated the mental link to sense Aos Qin's physical condition.

Calming his mind, a clear sensation appeared within Oscar's perception.

Among them was the pain caused by the uncontrolled soul power brought by the soul ring running wildly inside the body and colliding everywhere, and there was also the saturation sensation produced when the cells in the body, following the master's will, rapidly digested and absorbed this soul power.

What made Oscar very relieved was that among the intersecting sensations, he did not sense any sign of physical collapse; what he sensed was toughness and tenacity.

At this moment, after slightly adapting to the sudden pain, Aos Qin began to control his spiritual power and gather it towards the Wuhun hamburger in his sea of consciousness that was currently being burned by raging flames, focusing his will on the Wuhun.

When Aos Qin gathered the majority of his spiritual power around the Wuhun, he felt as if his consciousness was once again pulled into that chef space from when he absorbed the first soul ring.

Still only the chef's two hands appeared within his field of vision. Although he could still feel the pain coming from his physical body, most of Aos Qin's attention had already been drawn into this space, preparing to admire the chef's perfect cooking process.

Everyone should know a common fact: when pain reaches one's endurance limit, shifting attention might make things much better. Right now, Aos Qin's attention was diverted by this chef space.

At the same time, in the outside world, within Oscar's perception, the state inside Aos Qin's body that had originally been somewhat chaotic due to the large influx of soul power in a short time was now slowly but steadily moving towards an orderly state.

Exiting the mental link, although the soul power fluctuations around Aos Qin's body were still quite unstable, Oscar knew his younger brother Aos Qin had already passed the initial difficulty. Everything was indicating the result would be as they expected — a good outcome.

Inside the chef space, this time the chef did not start selecting wheat like last time, but instead went to find beef. Taking the best tenderloin from freshly butchered beef, flash-frozen to sterilize, thawed, then soaked in ice water to remove the blood.

After preparing the marinating sauce composed of cooking wine, starch, oyster sauce, salt, light soy sauce, peanut oil, black pepper, and tengjiao, take out the tenderloin from the ice water, dry the surface, cut into evenly sized strips, place into the marinade and continuously knead to make sure every side of each strip was coated, then refrigerate in a low-temperature environment for over half an hour.

During this period, put the fermented bread dough into the oven. After baking, take it out and let it cool naturally, then slice for use.

Of course, don't forget to prepare some onions and lettuce sliced and set aside as toppings.

At this point, take out the marinated beef, heat oil in a cold pan and stir-fry until sixty percent done, then remove and set aside; use the remaining oil to stir-fry onions until fragrant, then put the beef, tengjiao, and black pepper back in to continue stir-frying. It doesn't take long before it's ready.

One slice of bread, lay a layer of lettuce, pour a spoonful of beef strips, add a slice of cheese slightly smaller than the bread, then another spoonful of beef strips, and cover with another slice of bread.

The wheat aroma was pleasant, and the fragrance of tengjiao, black pepper, and cheese accompanied the tender and delicious beef strips. Sadly, Aos Qin didn't get to eat it again before being kicked out of the space.

Consciousness focused back into the body again, and Aos Qin discovered the soul ring absorption had, just like last time, reached the final stage.

"Could it be that the soul ring's energy activated the Wuhun and brought me into that space?" Aos Qin could not help but speculate.

Again came the sensation of shackles shattering. Aos Qin could feel that his body was currently filled with power.

Just as Aos Qin slightly relaxed his mind and was about to exit the meditation state, a scorching force violently rammed into Aos Qin's body, rampaging all the way and gathering into Aos Qin's right hand.

Before Aos Qin could react, this force transformed directly into blazing flames, completely wrapping Aos Qin's right hand in his consciousness. First the flesh, then the bones — Aos Qin's right hand was burned into nothingness bit by bit.

That kind of pain — honestly, Aos Qin really felt like he was going to faint. He actually wasn't someone particularly good at enduring pain.

But vaguely, a sensation told him he must not lose consciousness; if he passed out now, his right hand would truly be gone.

Outside, more than three hours had passed. The soul power fluctuations around Aos Qin's body had gradually stabilized from the initial violent instability. Seeing that the soul ring absorption was about to end, everyone finally sighed in relief.

However, a sudden change occurred. The single horn on the Flame-Armored Rhinoceros, which condensed the symbol of its age, suddenly turned into a mass of red light and, before anyone could react, shot into Aos Qin's body. Then Aos Qin's right hand was wrapped in flames, and no one could see what was happening inside.

But everyone could see that Aos Qin's face, which had already calmed down long ago, suddenly twisted drastically, showing he was enduring unbearable pain — seemingly even more intense than at the start of the soul ring absorption.

Oscar tried to activate the mental link to see what happened, but it failed at this moment. Everyone could only anxiously wait, hoping Aos Qin could endure this difficulty.

Switching to Aos Qin's view — right now he couldn't do anything, only desperately keep his consciousness clear. Perhaps because it had become a habit, Aos Qin subconsciously began visualizing the Five Beasts Diagram in his mind in the order of practicing Wuqinxi.

The concept of time became extremely vague at this moment. Aos Qin only repeatedly visualized the Five Beasts Diagram to distract from his pain and stay conscious.

Outside, the flickering speed of the flames slowly weakened. After about an hour, the flames completely solidified into a red cocoon of light.

As the light cocoon formed, the expression on Aos Qin's face gradually returned to calm, making those waiting finally relax slightly.

No one knew how long had passed when Aos Qin finally felt the pain weaken. The flames seemed to have lost their burning heat, but Aos Qin knew this was because his nerves had already adapted to this heat.

"Humans truly are creatures with terrifying adaptability. If you don't push yourself, you never know where your limits are!" Aos Qin now fully understood this sentence.

When Aos Qin's nerves adapted to the flame's energy, it stopped insisting on destruction and instead turned toward repair and rebirth.

This was an incredibly mystical feeling — watching his right hand grow from nothingness: first the skeleton, then fascia growing over the bones, then muscles gradually covering, and finally a layer of newly formed, clearly tough skin. According to Aos Qin's estimate, things should have ended here.

But he was wrong. The flame energy had not been consumed. The now-orange-red energy gradually contracted into the newly grown right hand. Then Aos Qin felt itchiness — not mosquito-like itchiness, but the kind that makes one want to tear open their skin and scratch deep into the bone.

What drove Aos Qin even crazier was that, at this moment, he was in a strange state and couldn't move to scratch. Fortunately, the itch did not last as long as the previous pain.

Soon the strange itching faded, but the back of Aos Qin's hand became covered with dark red armor like the flame armor on the Flame-Armored Rhinoceros. Then the armor gradually bulged and eventually formed a ten-centimeter-long hard rhinoceros horn.

In this moment, Aos Qin finally regained control of his body. Carefully sensing his right hand, Aos Qin found the armor and rhino horn on his right hand seemed like they were originally part of his hand and could be easily controlled to appear or retract under the skin.

This magical scene awakened deep memories in Aos Qin's mind.

"Could it be that the rhinoceros died so unwillingly that seeing the soul ring energy fail to explode me, it tried to use its horn — containing its body's strongest condensed energy — to burn off my right hand and make me disabled?

But because of the Wuqinxi visualization, I endured through the energy transformation stage, and instead that rhino horn became my external spirit bone? Like Tang San's Eight Spider Lances? In that case, didn't I make a huge profit? This rhinoceros really lost big time."

Having fully recovered from the twists and turns of absorbing his second soul ring, Aos Qin couldn't help joking in his heart. After all, what he experienced earlier wasn't pleasant at all. Aos Qin swore he never wanted to go through something like that again.

Finally finishing his mental adjustment, Aos Qin remembered there were people outside still worrying about him, and slowly opened his eyes.
