Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Prologue: a new beginning

Sanemi thought that maybe life ended on a good note, having died mid-twenties, having wandered most of Japan and beyond in search of any remnants of demons, but found none like a lost vagabond with no purpose or drive, but still with so much hatred toward demons, yet there is nothing to hate anymore.

This thought crossed his mind, but if a mirror were present in this void he is currently in, there would be a feral, angry, and chaotic gaze on his face that spoke to how angry and bitter he still was, especially towards Muzan. Yet, there is no one to vent it out to, no one to fight, no one to even pass time with, as his closest friend is dead, his master is dead, his purpose is dead, and worst of all, his family is dead...

Sanemi stirred and stirred yet never wondered why he was surrounded by the void, as he knew he was dead, but expected nothing in death, as a person like him doesn't care for any. Still, with a sudden burst, he appeared in a massive room of stars and galaxies, and he was in awe, yet was quickly broken out of his stupor.

"You know, a hi, would be nice,"

An almost bored-sounding man said across from him,

"Hmph, I expected a little more from hell, having already seen it."

While gazing around, he thought,

'Why am I here?'

"Well. Glad you finally asked."

shocked at such an intrusion of privacy Sanemi kindly asked

" bastard, you should've told me you can read minds sooner, dipshit."

letting out a violent huff, "Now is better than never, am I right?"

He let out a humorous laugh,

"But death changes everybody, so seeing you on such good behavior, I thought of giving you another chance."

'god' sat there with a knowing smile as Sanemi dragged on.

"What I'm posed to do, sing happy letters of kinship, just send me where I belong, I don't give a damn and never have"

Sanemi cared little about his own death, so the afterlife never mattered, but looking at it now, he does wish he could save more people from danger, but he doesn't know what he will protect.

"so a hero"

'god' quipped,

"Something like that."

He now rested against the ethereal walls.

"You want to be reborn? Why not revival, going back in time, or better yettttt -"

'god' was met with an instant reply,

"I don't have anything to fight anymore, and I already lived it once like hell, I'm doing it again, my brothers are in a better place now anyway."

He murmured solemnly.

"well, there is always a way to shape this new world you'd like to be reborn in, like having those memories of yours, it will be easy to rise to power very quickly."

'god' wondered just why reincarnation, if he hated demons so much, why not be warped back in time with the powers of Yoriichi, but he was answered quickly

"nah, this life is over, all i want is a new start, where i can be a 'hero', that word is disgusting"

Sanemi said as he seemingly squeezed air into a powdery mush,

"You know you were a her-"

Sanemi quickly interrupted,

"Like hell I was, I wouldn't be going to hell if I was, besides, it's over now, no more demons at the very least, right?"

'god' cheesing with a cocky, smirky grin, snapping his fingers,

"Of course, I can do anything."

and the ethereal room turned to a homey house where Genya and other members of his family, including himself, but before his emotions could stir, 'god' snapped his fingers again and was back at the ethereal palace.

"So are you ready? Time is limited these days."

Sanemi glared daggers, but his old anger was in violence toward demons, but now, over the course of traveling for 4 years in search of any remnant of demons, the old, almost uncontrollable rage settled into a calm storm, nestled in a neat package, so things like these lost their meaning.

"Just hurry u-"

in a breath, he vanished, and 'god' brought his next customer as the scene switches to a rundown apartment in Hosu city as dust collects on the ceiling. A loud cry can be heard as a mother is giving birth to a surprisingly heavy baby, making it hard to push out.

"Come on, shut her mouth, you know how they get,"

he said in a muffled yet hurried tone.

"I'm trying, don't you see how fucking big this baby is?"

yet the other replied with wonder,

"Weren't you a doctor back then? This should be handled already."

The lady then screamed with the doctor quickly covering her mouth,

"I was only a doctor for a year, and birth was something I was NOT handling."

"Oh shit, the baby's almost out."

With a defeated yelp, the mother stopped clutching the sheets, and the baby, beautiful but very scary looking, was looked upon by the two males.

"You know, for how rundown this room is, the baby came out looking quite handsome,"

The doctor inquired.

"Yeah, my kids are always going to be a looker."

With a mocking smile, the father pointed at himself.

While handing the now crying baby to the so-called 'mother's embrace', he quieted down, and the mother smiled a weak yet proud smile.

" Tori, what should we name him?"

she said while pulling his hair back to reveal his unique eyes. The father, now known as Tori, smiled and showed a sly grin.

"Well, the birth of our child was perfect, I think Sanemi would fit well."

The doctor looked with a deadpan face as Tori tried to explain himself.

"Well, names are as important as time, so giving a fitting name would b-"

"You've watched too many tarot card readings, have you?"

The doctor inclined, and the mother spoke up, saying,

"Well, it does rhyme with Shinazugawa as well,"

And with a look in between the two, he relented,

"Sanemi, it is then, "

With a sigh lot of paperwork was done, as since money was extremely tight, going to the doctor for even just a visit was make-or-break.

A year later, we find Sanemi with a determined look on his face as Mom just went into labor and Dad had to work longer hours, due to his accounting job being lost.

He almost miserably had to go to Mom for an emergency, so he is stuck working at an almighty t-shirt making factory for 16 hours a day as he works a plan to pay for 2 kids.

Sanemi washes the floors, cleans the walls, and even though he is small, he is damn helpful. He sat cross-legged beside a stirring mother.

He watches as her belly seems to contract and move strangely, but Dad says this is a very important and desperate time for Mom, and he waits as the mother begins screaming in pain, as he doesn't know what to do. His mom gestures to hold her hand as she almost roars in pain, as this time it is much worse than the last birth.

Sanemi can only clutch her hand as this rage on with an almost terrified face scrunched by the screams he watches as she tosses violently, and in 2 agonizing hours the triplets are born, and Sanemi can only watch in awe at such a sight.

Minutes later,

Three babies rest in the mother's arms as Sanemi watches, occasionally touching their faces as she names one Genya, Shuya, and Sumi Shinazugawa, but amidst their joy, not everyone is happy.

All the tenants complained about the ear-shattering screams for 2 hours straight, and the landlord lord wasn't happy at all, having already been annoyed at their tenants' constant late payments and hadn't paid in 2 months.

They were getting out of here tonight for sure.

At 7 in the morning,

Tori arrived to find his wife, Shinzu, arguing with their landlord. He rushed over to clear up any misunderstandings, but as he approached, the landlord pushed Shinzu. In a fit of rage,

Tori grabbed a rock and struck the landlord, beating him viciously. Sanemi stood nearby, watching in a fighting stance, trembling slightly as the landlord lay motionless on the ground.

Tori was now covered in blood and heard the cries of their three children on the floor. Shinzu, weak from the long night, tried to pick them up.

Tori quickly grabbed the children and dragged them into the car, with Sanemi helping Shinzu into the front seat. Tori settled into the driver's seat, quietly processing the chaos of emotions swirling inside him. They couldn't stay anywhere near Hosu anymore.

As he accelerated down the highway, he cried hysterically, lamenting,

"I was going to become a manager!"

Shinzu attempted to speak, but Tori shouted,

"I CAN'T BE ANYTHING BECAUSE OF THESE DAMN KIDS, AND YOU WON'T KEEP YOUR FUCKING MOUTH SHUT!"

In a rush, Shinzu said,

"I was having three children! What more can I d-"

Before she could finish, Tori slapped her and pulled over into an empty parking lot. Sanemi stood in horror as he had never seen his father this mad,

As his mom shut her mouth and they continued their drive to Musutafu, even the newborn did not make a noise,

As Sanemi could only contain the anger he had for this day, he knew things might get better.

Three years later, nothing has changed; in fact, things have gotten much worse.

Tori now frequently picks fights over their living situation, bouncing between hotels and apartments.

The cost of raising three boys and one girl is massive. Even with Shinzu working, they are poorer than ever.

Sanemi, the oldest, often starves himself to ensure his younger siblings have enough to eat. He believes it's his responsibility, as their mother taught him, and he lives by that principle.

However, this has caused resentment among his younger siblings. They didn't ask to be brought into this world, just like Sanemi.

He thinks that if they must be happy, he must do everything he can to make them so. He takes on all the chores and even handles maintenance on household items, yet their homes remain run-down, and nearly everything is in disrepair.

Talks between the siblings are short, as Sanemi is always doing something, and Genya tries to help, but is often shooed away by Sanemi

However, this caused the family to be quite split as the house is never home for the three younger siblings,

but Tori, even in his mood, ends up enrolling the kids into school as it is the local school there closest too.

On the first day of school, a villain roams Musutafu slums as one run-down apartment seems to be lively,

as the parents had an off day, so naturally, they wanted to finally do right by their kids, with Tori finally recovering,

"So who is ready for the strongest quirk in the world?!"

The mom cheered, and the kids yipped

"I am!!"

With a smile, the last week for the kids has been such a change of pace, as life seemed normal again

"Genya eats all the food; he might have an eating quirk."

With Genya protesting to Sumi's jab,

"I eat in moderate amounts, thank you very much,"

with a grumpy huff as Sanemi spoke,

"You eat like a damn pig,"

with Tori saying something along the lines of "language!"

They were off to the quirk doctor as it was $500 a kid, which weighed heavily on the parents' pockets, but they have found new vigor as life seems to be going good as far as money, so school and revealing their quirks was an excellent gift for being terrible parents in their eyes.

"Sumi, you think I will have a strong quirk?"

As Shuya swayed uncomfortably in his seat,

"Well, we are siblings, so we should naturally have the same quirk."

With a confident nod of her head, Shuya felt satisfied as he had never been outgoing like the others, so this silent confirmation helped massively.

"You know your mom and I have very strong quirks as a pass on, so while we might not be the strongest, our quirks have great potential."

Tori commented, adding slight hope to the three children.

"Dad,"

Sanemi asked with a questioning look far beyond his age,

"Is life going to get better?"

and the air became dense, and the hold on the steering wheel grew much heavier as Shinzu gripped Tori's pants with a pleading squeeze.

"I... don't know yet"

"But what I do know is how amazing heroes we are going to be,"

Genya proclaimed, as he was the most giddy about being a hero, but for the others, well...

" Enough with the hero talk, Genya, it's all you talk about,"

Sumi spoke up with a silent "true" being heard from Shuya.

"You know Genya has a real shot at it. He saved a kind lady named Inko from three dogs."

Shinzu quipped with a bit of praise towards her secret favorite son

"Like hell a falling twig would've scared those dogs away."

Sanemi said, glaring at Genya

"Well, what heroic deed have you done?"

with a proud pointer finger aimed at Sanemi.

"Have I told you the time I saved allmight?"

as Sanemi laughed, as everyone laughed, as Genya screamed liar. They show up at the hospital with 4 giddy kids tagging along, and they pay the doctor in cash as one by one the kids are tested for their quirk. As Shuya is tested first,

"It seems Shuya can bend wind, but only in rotation, as she can move wind freely confined to a circular motion, a very strong quirk if utilized correctly."

Next was Sumi as she was testing,

"Why, that's the exact combination of our quirks."

Shinzu pondered,

"Down to the tea, I guess quirk can integrate perfectly if the conditions are met."

Tori then realized,

"That's why quirk marriage is so frowned upon, it's basically a cheat code."

Shuya, being closest to them, said

"What is quirk marriage?"

with a bewildered gaze as Sanemi scoffed and Shinzu chuckled,

"nothing to worry about now"

Sumi came out with a smile as the doctor sat her down next to Tori.

"Oddly powerful quirk".

The doctor murmured,

"She can breathe much more air and manipulate the air flowing threw her bloodstream, but can't outside. But as you can see,"

He lifted his shirt with a seemingly regretful look, showing a big bruise mark under his chest.

"She packs quite the punch."

As Sumi flexed, showing nonexistent muscles.

I'll take the last two together as Sanemi and Genya glared at each other, trying to peer into the future to see who has the better quirk.

"Oh, you boys, hurry on,"

Shinzu shooed them off, and Sumi was still flexing those muscles as Shuya made mini donuts in the air, with Tori checking the time.

They came out, but Sanemi was holding onto Genya as he seemed to be clutching his stomach doctor came in with bad news this time, while Sanemi had a strong wind manipulation quirk.

Genya had an eating quirk? As he gets stronger based on what he eats as he can copy the quirks based on how much he eats of them.

At this explanation, Shuya hurls, and Sumi backs away slightly as Sanemi speaks up,

"That means you can be stronger than all might and endeavor combined,"

As he tried to shear Genya up, but in all honesty, that power was more fitting of a demon.

The car ride is slow but tense as they discuss their quirks. Genya is balled up in a corner, terrified of himself, as Sanemi and the parents help him, and as they are dropped off.

The parents return home and, as usual, are getting ready to leave when a knock is heard at the door.

They open to see a skinny man with purple hair and about as sketchy as possible, but as they go to close the door, he asks politely,

"What way is downtown?"

As Tori goes to answer

"oh i-"

His body freezes in place as if he cannot control his body, and he turns his head to see a terrified Shinza as the man at the door says, "I should've introduced myself?" as he lets out an evil grin as Tori leaps on Shinzu with a shocked look on his face, "Nikushimi Shinso."

The number 1 villain on the loose in the underground scene. What will he do? And how will this affect the Shinazugawa family...?
