Chapter 18 - Night Devourer Longbow

A fog suddenly descended over the contract link in Raviel's mind. He could no longer sense the status of the One-Eyed Giant Ape and Emerald Vine at all, as if they had become completely foreign beings.

Raviel's eyes widened. How could the power of Kylen's "command" work on Transcendence Realm contracted creatures? Wasn't realm suppression supposed to be absolute?

The clown he had thought he could easily crush was now surpassing him in such an unexpected way!

The One-Eyed Giant Ape swung its thick arms and smashed fiercely at Raviel.

Raviel gritted his teeth, channeled the power of his talent into himself, and threw a punch in return.

"Bang!"

Dust flew everywhere, and a crisp sound of bone cracking rang out.

The Emerald Vine also obeyed Kylen's order. Vines and thorns intertwined into a net, slicing deep gashes across Raviel's body.

He couldn't understand, what exactly was Kylen's talent?

Kylen said playfully, "What's wrong? You look confused? Your contracted creatures are quite useful!"

Kylen turned Raviel's own tactics against him. The Emerald Vine grew countless tendrils, catapulting the One-Eyed Giant Ape into the air. The ape crashed down from the sky like a meteor!

"Mountain-Crushing Strike!"

Boom!

Raviel spat out a large mouthful of blood.

Even though his body had been tempered through thousands of trials, he still struggled to withstand the combined attack of a beast-type and plant-type creature of the same realm.

"Impossible! One-Eye! Emerald! Can't you hear me?"

Kylen huffed. "They will only obey the call of the King! This is my talent, Primordial Blood Pact. All beings within the sequence will submit to my bloodline!"

Raviel roared, "You're lying! How could such a talent exist!"

He thought Kylen was deceiving him; this was a psychological tactic.

But if it was a deception, how to explain everything happening right in front of him?

Kylen's realm was indeed lower than the One-Eyed Giant Ape and Emerald Vine, but the power of Primordial Blood Pact and Crimson Temptation was different from Blood Coagulation Control.

Kylen wasn't dominating them; he had "tempted" them with blood. This was an act they had volunteered for; there was no such thing as "resistance" at all!

Only the loyalty from this temptation had a time limit. For Kylen, who was at the Ascension Realm, the effect of the Primordial Blood Pact could only last about a minute.

Kylen stood on a higher spot and looked down at him. "Am I lying? Haven't your contracted creatures already proven everything? I am the true King of Bloodlines.

You, on the other hand, are just a stepping stone kneeling beneath the throne! If I wanted to, your contracted creatures could take their own lives right now."

Kylen raised his hand, as if he would swing it down at any moment.

Raviel's hands trembled with anger.

In terms of strength, he could easily defeat Kylen. Even a powerful being like Avelia, suppressed by her reduced realm, had to use her trump card to fight the One-Eyed Giant Ape and Emerald Vine.

It was purely Kylen's unknown talent that made him hesitate to act! He hadn't lost, and he didn't want to admit defeat, especially not in front of Avelia!

But reality didn't allow him to hesitate. One-Eye and Emerald were far more important than his pride…

"I concede… You win."

Raviel ground his teeth and admitted defeat.

In fact, the temporary control of Kylen's Primordial Blood Pact over the contracted creatures was about to reach its limit. But Raviel didn't know that.

If he had held on for just a few more seconds, he might have turned the tide and won. Fighting beyond his realm was still a stretch for Kylen… and this was even without Raviel using Abyssal Armaments.

He had barely won by exploiting his talent and using psychological tactics with his words.

But all of this ended with Raviel's concession.

Kylen lifted the control. Raviel recalled the One-Eyed Giant Ape and Emerald Vine, his gaze extremely heavy.

He sighed, threw the Crimson-Horned Pterosaur wings to Kylen, and said, "A bet is a bet."

Then he slung the blazing red spear over his shoulder and left, looking somewhat dejected.

Elara, who had been watching anxiously, finally let go of her worries. "Mentor Bartholomew, he won! Kylen actually won! That's a member of the sophomore Crimson Legion!"

Only now did she understand how much Kylen had held back during their spar. With all their trump cards unleashed, Kylen and Avelia could even defeat a Crimson Legion member beyond their realm!

Bartholomew nodded slowly. "Impressive. The young man really showed me a rare talent."

Kylen felt as if Bartholomew had seen through everything, so he said, "Just a trivial trick, sorry for making you laugh. Strictly speaking, I didn't really win. He just gave up on his own."

Bartholomew chuckled. "Why be so modest, young man? You attacked what he valued most.

Raviel also realized that if he continued fighting, he might win, but his contracted creatures would be either dead or severely injured; that's why he conceded. Don't worry, what happened today won't spread. He's not that kind of petty person."

"It's just that the little slime's charm is really… how can any of these impulsive young lads not admire her? With her around, there will be no end to people coming to trouble you."

Kylen took Avelia's hand. "I'm not afraid. We'll face whatever comes. All right, Mentor Bartholomew, let's get back to the topic of Abyssal Armaments!

What kind of Abyssal Armament should I choose? And these Crimson-Horned Pterosaur wings, what grade of armament can they be forged into?"

He had come today to choose equipment. Raviel had just been in an accident.

But this also served as a warning for Kylen. There would be far more jealous rivals than just Raviel. As news spread to the abyssal rifts, more and more people would come looking for him.

He had to hurry up and become stronger.

Bartholomew led Kylen and Elara to the underground warehouse of the Logistics Office and said, "Wings are usually used to forge flight-type armaments.

They're quite rare, and perfect for a Contractor like you who lacks mobility.

The Crimson-Horned Pterosaur has a sequence number of No.255, so it can be forged into a Silver Class armament."

"Your fighting style relies on blood. The best choice is a Silver Class armament that complements this system."

As he spoke, Bartholomew took a box from the warehouse. "Pick it up and try."

Kylen opened the box. A strong smell of blood filled the air. Inside was a dark crimson longbow, with obscure runes carved into its body.

The moment Kylen reached out and picked it up, relevant information flooded into his mind.

[Abyssal Armament: Night Devourer Longbow]

[Grade: Silver Class]

[Note: Forged from the beak of a Night Raven. It can fire dark crimson Blood Shadow Arrows, with a penetration speed of up to ten Mach. Damage is not its strong point, but it plays a unique role in hunting and control.]

[Ability · Blood Devour Mark: Targets pierced by the arrows will be marked with the Night Devourer Mark. Their blood can be drawn at any time by the bow's wielder to recover or enhance themselves.]

[Side Effect: The Night Devourer Longbow feeds on blood. When blood is insufficient, it will demand it from its master.]

Huh? It's quite similar to Avelia!

Of course, Kylen didn't dare say that out loud. But… the side effect of the Night Devourer Longbow might be its strongest feature for him…

"Great, this is a good item! I'll choose this one. Mentor Bartholomew, Avelia used to have Abyssal Armaments too, but they were all destroyed.

Please choose another one for my Avelia. I'll be fine with this longbow and the Abyssal Armament forged from the Crimson-Horned Pterosaur wings."

Elara had given him a Silver Class armament, and Raviel had also "sponsored" a pair of wings. He only needed to pay a processing fee of 10 credits. The remaining credits were just enough to buy equipment for Avelia.

Bartholomew stroked his beard. "Oh? It's possible, but I don't recommend you do that."

Kylen asked in confusion, "Huh? Why?"
