I blinked hard, giving my head a snap shake to clear the fog.
But Rafael didn't give me space. He leaned in, dropping his height until his eyes were level with mine.
My body jerked back. My feet stayed glued to the floor.
"What… why are you so close?"
Damn it. I shouldn't have stammered.
His smirk deepened. "You're tensed. Should we kiss now?"
My eyes widened. Kiss? Why kiss? The voice inside my head was screaming at me to shove him—or at least kick his shin—but the roar of my heartbeat drowned out the order.
His gaze dropped to my lips. He trailed it back up to my eyes, slow and deliberate.
Oh Jesus. Why did I find that sexy? My reflexes failed me. I found myself staring at his thin lips, my throat tightening as I swallowed hard.
He let out a low, breathy chuckle. He saw it. He saw the gulp. He was enjoying this.
He moved closer, tilting his head until I could feel the heat of his breath against my skin.
I should move. I should turn and run.
