The days continued to pass, and the first volume of Tensura was finally published. It was an immediate success, a success that could even surpass Overlord. Every copy sold out within a few hours, and reprints began almost immediately.

On the internet, everyone was talking about Tensura. It was like an epidemic.

The speed at which the reprints were selling out shocked even Kuroda and everyone at the publishing company. In his office, Kuroda was finishing an email to Kyo, informing him of the number of volumes sold during the first week.

More than 180,000 copies of the first volume of Tensura had been sold!

And the reprints kept coming. Without a doubt, Tensura was going to break many records.

Everyone at the publishing company already loved Kyo, but now they looked at him as if he were a god. He was the publisher's gold mine. Someone like him deserved far more prestige, and his future contracts would be even more generous.

"Have you finished writing the email?" one of Kuroda's coworkers asked as she approached him.

"Yes, I just sent it."

"How are you feeling right now? Happy with the performance of Author Aoi Haruki's new work?"

"Happy?" Kuroda flashed a huge smile. He held himself back from shouting. "I'm in heaven! Do you have any idea what it means to sell over 180,000 volumes in a single week? Do you realize how incredible that is? Kyo is changing this industry forever! We'll never have another author like him!" Kuroda exclaimed excitedly.

His coworker smiled bitterly and replied, "You're right. I find it hard to believe another author like him will ever appear. A lot of people tried to create stories with monster protagonists after Overlord, but none of them achieved this level of success... Then he comes along, publishes the first volume of Tensura, and sells over 180,000 copies... It's terrifying."

"He has a natural talent for this. He was born to write," Kuroda said. "We can't let him slip through our fingers. That must never happen."

"Don't worry. Author Aoi Haruki likes you, Kuroda."

"That's not enough! The next contracts we sign with him need to be even more generous! I'm sure other publishers are already after him!"

Kuroda was certain that other publishers wanted to sign him, even though Kyo had never mentioned anything about it.

"You'll need to talk to the higher-ups about that, but I'm sure they'll accept any demand Author Aoi Haruki makes, even if he asks for 90% of the royalties."

"That's impossible," Kuroda laughed.

"I know, I'm joking. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go have lunch and then take care of a contract."

"You're going to visit that rookie author?"

"Yes, that's right. Did you know she's the same age as Kyo? She's quite talented."

"Do you think she's on the same level as him?"

His coworker laughed.

"Hahaha, not even close. But she has a lot of potential."

"I see. Good luck with that. It's always nice to discover new talent."

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

A newly published novel that was becoming a huge success everywhere, including among Yumi Takahashi's group of friends. She had heard of Author Aoi Haruki before and had become interested in one of his works called Oregairu, but she had never actually read anything written by him.

However, since Tensura was being talked about so much, she decided to stop by a bookstore on her way home from school to buy the first volume.

But when she arrived, she was surprised by the number of people waiting in line outside.

"What is this, some kind of event?"

She noticed a promotional stand outside featuring an image advertising Tensura.

'Wait, are all these people here because of Tensura's release?'

She was speechless.

The number of people waiting was unbelievable. She hadn't even seen anything like this during the release of the latest volume of The Last Soldier.

'Author Aoi Haruki really is popular, isn't he?' she thought.

She joined the line and waited.

Besides buying the first volume of Tensura, she planned to take the opportunity to buy the first volume of Oregairu as well.

The line continued to move.

Many people around her kept talking about Aoi Haruki. They spoke with genuine passion. Yumi couldn't understand how an author could be so adored.

And he was so young, too!

Of course, she had looked him up before. The only thing that had really impressed her was his appearance.

'Come to think of it, he's going to be part of a series that's coming out soon, right? I think I'll watch it. I'm curious. Can a light novel author even act?'

Like many other people, Yumi assumed Kyo had gotten the role because of his fame as an author and would probably not be very good at acting.

After spending a long time in line, it was finally her turn to buy the first volume of Tensura.

However, the moment she entered the store—

"We're very sorry, but the first volume of Slime is sold out! More copies will arrive tomorrow!"

The instant she heard that, Yumi nearly screamed.

She had spent more than twenty minutes waiting in line!

"Tsk!"

She clicked her tongue in annoyance and ended up buying five volumes of Oregairu instead. She didn't want to leave empty-handed.

Then she went home feeling frustrated.

After taking a shower, she sat down and started reading the first volume of Oregairu.

Before she realized it, dinner time had already passed.

"How long have I been reading!?" she shouted in shock.

"Yumi! Aren't you going to eat anything!?" her mother shouted from outside her room.

"I'm coming, Mom!"

'Wow, I was so absorbed that I completely lost track of time. He writes so well...'

Yumi, who was an aspiring author herself, was amazed by how well-written the first volume of Oregairu was.

She could picture every scene in vivid detail, and it carried her into an entirely new world.

It felt as if she were attending that school alongside Yukino, Yui, and Hachiman.

It felt as though she were part of their group of friends.

"Tomorrow I'm buying the first volume of Overlord and Tensura! I want to see if the quality of his writing is this good in all of his works!"
