Time passed. I finished my meal and spent most of the time in silence. Kyo's mother asked me several questions, and I answered them all. She asked where I lived, how old I was, and many other things about my life.

It felt like an interview.

Of course, I answered everything without any problems or lies. However, things started to become a little strange when Kyo's mother, Haruna, began asking about my family.

"And what about your family, Miu? Does your mother know you're here?"

"Well..."

"Don't tell me you came without her permission."

"I told her. I even said I'd ask you to call her, but I forgot." I took out my phone and then asked, "Could you talk to her? Tell her I'm here and that I'm not bothering anyone..."

"I'm not bothering anyone?" Haruna looked confused by my words. Then she said, "Alright, I'll talk to her."

I called my mother and handed the phone to Kyo's mother.

A few seconds later, the call connected.

"Hello, are you Miu's mother? Yes, yes, I'm Kyo's mother. Yes, she's here at our house."

Haruna talked to her for a while, and her expression gradually changed. She looked uncomfortable about something.

'What are you telling her, Mom?'

"Here you go. Your mother was worried because it took you so long to call her."

"I'll apologize to her later. Hahaha..." I smiled bitterly.

"But your mother... she's a little peculiar. She said some very strange things. Well... it's probably better if we don't talk about it."

"..."

I stayed silent, but Kyo asked Haruna what my mother had said.

The only thing Haruna replied was, "It's better if we don't talk about it." She looked at me.

'She definitely said something about me, didn't she?'

I put another bite of food into my mouth and remained silent. My stomach turned cold, and I became very nervous. Haruna noticed and quickly changed the subject.

She started talking about her pregnancy and how happy she was.

Shortly afterward, Kyo's father arrived home.

He greeted me with a smile, and then Haruna finally told him she was pregnant.

I had the pleasure of watching him find out that he was going to become a father for the second time.

It was the first time I'd ever seen a grown man jumping around like a child.

Kyo was laughing as he watched as well.

After we finished eating and chatted for a little longer, Kyo suddenly said,

"Miu, come on. I'll show you my office where I work."

"Huh?"

"Don't you want to?"

Kyo's mother and father looked at the two of us and exchanged strange smiles.

"Ah, sure," I said as I stood up.

"Have fun~~," Haruna said with a smile.

Feeling extremely nervous, I followed Kyo upstairs. We stopped in front of a door.

"This is my office. It's a little messy, so don't judge me too harshly."

Kyo opened the door, and I walked into his office.

It was a large room with a beautiful desktop computer and enormous monitors. I don't know much about computers, but I'm pretty sure the graphics card in Kyo's PC costs almost as much as a car.

Besides his computer, there was a bed, a small sofa, a huge TV, and several game consoles.

There were also many bookshelves filled with manga, light novels, and figures.

The amount of money spent building this room alone would have been enough to buy my mother's house.

"This is amazing..." I murmured.

"It took me a while to put everything together. I bought a lot of new manga, light novels, and figures just to fill all the shelves. I even ran out of space."

"Amazing."

I walked over to his computer, which was still on, and grabbed his mouse without asking. Kyo didn't seem to mind.

"You can sit here." Kyo pulled out his chair—which also probably cost a fortune—and I sat down.

Several text files were open on the computer.

"The Apothecary Diaries?"

"It's a new series I'm writing."

"You're writing something new? But didn't you just publish Tensura? You're also publishing Oregairu. And on top of that, you're already writing Volume 10..."

I examined the text.

I had only read a little, but his writing was on another level.

"I can just write very quickly. That's all."

"You're scary. It took me over a month just to finish a single volume..."

"You're already writing faster than most authors. There are authors who only publish one volume a year."

Kyo laughed loudly.

"..."

Silently, I opened Kyo's browser.

He had Twitter and YouTube open.

"You were watching an Overlord review? Do you really like seeing what people think about what you write that much?"

"Well, it's important. Besides, I've never really watched many reviews of the anime before, so I got curious. Speaking of which, Season 4 is coming out soon, isn't it? I think next week."

"Yeah. I'm really excited. Have you already watched the episodes?"

"Even though I'm the author, I haven't watched them. Actually, I never even asked to. I trust the scriptwriter and the director."

"I see... I wonder if my novel will ever get an anime adaptation like Overlord... I guess I'm dreaming a little too big, aren't I?"

"I'm sure you will. Trust me. I know you're a good writer—good enough to catch the attention of the same publisher I have a contract with."

"...Do you really think so?"

"You have far too little confidence in yourself, Miu."

Kyo stepped closer and gently ruffled my hair with a smile.

"Believe in yourself a little more. You have talent. Do you think I'd lie to you?"

"..."

"Alright, now let's play something. I have a lot of PlayStation games."

"Wait. First, I want to post something on your Twitter," I said jokingly.

But Kyo...

"What are you going to post? Now I'm curious."

He didn't seem to mind at all...

'Can I really post something????'
