Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: This Woman is Quite Tsundere

Xu Mu's expression grew increasingly serious. It seemed he couldn't afford to be idle.

He should accumulate more Fate Points for draws and enhance his own strength.

He carefully scrutinized Meng Wanyue's profile; the information on it was undoubtedly fabricated.

He closed his eyes in thought, his fingers rhythmically tapping the desktop.

He definitely couldn't directly dismiss Meng Wanyue; her identity was unusual.

If this method didn't work, she would surely use other means.

By then, Xu Mu would be caught off guard.

The best approach was to follow the plot: keep Meng Wanyue close to monitor her.

If she saw him and Ye Tong and Ye Yu living harmoniously, she shouldn't immediately inform the Dragon King.

This would also buy Xu Mu more time to develop.

According to the plot, Meng Wanyue was also one of the Dragon King's "harem" members.

To be precise, Meng Wanyue admired the Dragon King, but the Dragon King always treated her as a subordinate.

Only much later in the story did the Dragon King agree for her to become his woman.

Xu Mu's eyes narrowed slightly. If he could win Meng Wanyue over to his side, it would implicitly reduce the Dragon King's Fate Points.

Xu Mu picked up the phone on his desk and informed Wang Biao to have Meng Wanyue come to the office.

Ordinarily, Xu Mu wouldn't bother to meet new hires.

But meeting Meng Wanyue had a reason.

After all, she was applying to be his secretary.

Before long, the office door was pushed open, and two people entered one after another.

Leading the way was Wang Biao, and behind him was a woman in an office uniform.

"Old Wang, you can go now."

Xu Mu waved Wang Biao away.

"Yes."

Wang Biao nodded and turned to leave.

"Good day, General Manager Xu."

Meng Wanyue lowered her head slightly, greeting Xu Mu.

Xu Mu observed Meng Wanyue; she had a well-proportioned figure, with long black hair cascading down her back, only slightly curled at the ends.

Her bangs subtly covered her willow-like eyebrows, revealing most of her delicate face.

This appearance was indeed that of a standard female lead.

However, Meng Wanyue had one flaw: her eyes.

Her eyes were beautiful, yet they were lifeless, or rather, inherently cold and emotionless.

Xu Mu knew this was related to her identity.

Meng Wanyue's background was tragic. From the time she could remember, she was sold abroad and trained as an assassin.

It's worth noting that female assassins have natural advantages compared to males, especially when assassinating men.

Meng Wanyue was one of the top assassins in an organization. Her last assassination target was the Dragon King himself.

The outcome was obvious: she was captured by the Dragon King.

The Dragon King recognized this woman's skills and subsequently annihilated everyone in Meng Wanyue's organization, leaving only her alive.

The Dragon King was domineering, offering Meng Wanyue two paths: death or becoming his subordinate.

Meng Wanyue didn't want to die, and having no emotional attachment to her previous organization, she chose to stay.

After a few missions, Meng Wanyue was impressed by the Dragon King's strength.

However, at present, it was more admiration than genuine affection.

Her feelings for the Dragon King only began to develop after his return.

As the Dragon King interacted with several female leads, she envied their love and gradually became fond of him.

Therefore, Xu Mu now had an opportunity.

Using his Divine Eye, he viewed her information.

Name : Meng Wanyue

Character : Assassin, Female Protagonist of "Dragon King Descends"

Favorability : -20

Fate Level : 9 (Max Level 10)

"Meng Wanyue, correct?"

Xu Mu looked at the profile, already accustomed to others having negative goodwill towards him.

After all, a little inquiry would reveal his true character.

"Yes."

Meng Wanyue nodded.

"Why do you want to be my secretary? You must have inquired about me during your application, right?"

Xu Mu placed her profile on the table.

Meng Wanyue's expression visibly froze. As an assassin, she would naturally investigate her target's character and habits first.

Xu Mu was known as a prodigal son, frequently visiting entertainment venues in Jiang City.

Often, he would lose his temper for no reason.

She had killed countless rich second-generation types like him.

But none of them had ever been as self-aware as Xu Mu.

Could it be that he was faking it?

"I... I didn't inquire. I just wanted to earn money and thought this position was good."

Meng Wanyue lowered her head, like a nervous young girl.

For a female assassin, acting was equally important.

"According to your profile, you graduated from a prestigious university abroad?"

Xu Mu asked Meng Wanyue.

"Yes."

Meng Wanyue nodded.

"To study abroad, your family must have some capital, right?"

"No, I worked part-time and studied abroad. I'm an orphan; both my parents are dead."

Meng Wanyue explained softly.

Xu Mu propped his cheek, looking at Meng Wanyue's expression at the moment, then said, "It must have been very hard all these years, wasn't it?"

Meng Wanyue's body stiffened. Trained as an assassin from a young age, if she didn't perform well, she would be whipped.

Even now, having left the organization and followed the Dragon King, the Dragon King no longer treated her as a killing tool like the previous organization did.

Yet, the Dragon King had never shown her any concern.

Xu Mu's single sentence touched her sealed-off heart slightly.

"It was alright."

Meng Wanyue finally uttered two words.

"It won't be anymore."

Xu Mu smiled and took out his phone. "Let's add each other's contact info. You'll officially start work tomorrow. If you encounter any trouble, remember to find me."

"Okay."

Meng Wanyue nodded.

...

After Meng Wanyue left, Xu Mu had initially intended to have Wang Biao follow her to see where she lived.

But on second thought, it was better not to alert her.

Someone like Wang Biao tracking an assassin would surely be exposed; it was better to take it little by little.

Xu Mu glanced at his phone and saw that Xu Shou wanted him to come over.

He then got up and took the elevator to the top floor of the company.

Arriving at the Chairman's office, he found his elder sister, Xu Ningbing, was also there.

Xu Shou was currently sitting in his boss's chair, playing a video on his phone.

The music in the video was Xu Mu's piano playing.

The phone's recording device couldn't perfectly reproduce the live sound, but Xu Shou still closed his eyes, listening intently.

"Dad, what did you need me for?" Xu Mu walked over and asked.

"Ningbing, what did I just say?"

Xu Shou slowly opened his eyes.

Xu Ningbing's expression was unnatural, her cold and beautiful face slightly flushed.

She forced a smile at Xu Mu that looked worse than a cry. "Xu Mu... you, you're actually quite useful."

Having said that, she immediately turned her face towards the window.

[Favorability +1]

Xu Mu smiled. This Xu Ningbing truly was unapproachable; her goodwill was quite hard to increase.

"Kid! You keep a low profile, then make a sensational impression! Quick, tell me, whose piece did you copy?"

Xu Shou looked at Xu Mu and said, "I heard Zhou Hening is preparing to release it for you. If it's exposed as plagiarism, we'll be in trouble."

"Hmph! I knew it was copied." Xu Ningbing snorted from the side.

"Old man, you don't trust me that much? This piece is an impromptu composition I just played casually, my own original work."

Xu Mu shrugged. "If you don't believe me, you can pay someone to verify it."

"Really?" Xu Shou asked.

"Why would I lie to you? I told you before, I know a thing or two about piano."

As Xu Mu said this, he didn't forget to glance at Xu Ningbing.

Xu Ningbing awkwardly pushed up her glasses, haughtily turning her face away.

[Favorability +1]

Xu Mu couldn't help but shake his head. This woman was quite tsundere.
