Chapter 246 - Chapter 246 — Taking Chen Xuan to Break the Engagement

Some of the orphanage directors were even moved to tears.

Since Xu Mu started working a few years ago, he never stopped donating.

Could a person with that kind of charity be a bad person?

Then Xu Corporation's official account also posted two settlement agreements.

They clearly stated that both parties had a mutual fight and a quarrel, and in the end both sides acknowledged their mistakes.

What did that prove?

It showed it wasn't a one-sided beating — the surveillance footage had been edited to mislead viewers, cutting only the parts that showed Xu Mu hitting someone.

At that moment another piece of news appeared out of nowhere.

This time the accounts and self-media that smeared Xu Corporation all came from one group: the Chai family of Jiangbei Yang City.

Numerous netizens began attacking the Chai Group; their Douyin account was flooded with hundreds of thousands of angry comments.

In the end they had to close comments.

The earlier videos insulting Xu Mu and Xu Corporation were also taken down one after another.

Xu Mu sat in the car, scrolling through the videos intensely.

He couldn't help but think: is this what business warfare looks like?

He had thought business wars were grand and glamorous, but they turned out to be so plain and crude.

Still, he was impressed by how meticulous Xu Shou's planning was.

Xu Shou must have known Xu Mu would get into trouble one day.

So, right when "Villain Xu Mu" started working, he began making donations to major orphanages in Xu Mu's name.

To make it seem genuine, the donation amounts rose gradually — from small to large.

Truly, parents everywhere are so gullible.

Xu Mu shook his head, bored with watching. He felt the matter was almost settled.

No surprise — Fang Chu had probably colluded with the Chai family.

Fang Chu was a son-in-law with no status suddenly linked to one of Jiangbei's top families, the Chai clan. What qualifications did he have?

Xu Mu had a bold suspicion: maybe Fang Chu's health had recovered.

"Li Yun hasn't answered my calls — looks like she believes Fang Chu's story," Xu Mu muttered, then his phone rang; it was Li Yun.

He hesitated a moment, then answered.

"Xiao Mu, I'm sorry — I didn't pick up your call just now." Li Yun sounded apologetic and didn't make excuses.

"It's okay. If you don't want to work, just tell me," Xu Mu said into the phone.

"I'll work! Xiao Mu, of course I'll work!" Li Yun's voice choked up.

She felt terrible — Xu Mu had helped her again and again, yet she had believed a stranger's video and a few words and doubted him.

After being around Xu Mu so long, shouldn't she know what kind of person he is?

He saved her, treated her, got her that great job — and she treated him like that?

"Xiao Mu—"

"Auntie, someone else's calling me. I'll hang up now." Xu Mu cut her off and hung up before she could say more.

Li Yun stared at the disconnected call in shock. Xu Mu must be angry — understandably so. He'd been so good to her, yet she'd suspected him of ill intent and didn't stand by him when so many people were attacking him. How was that different from repaying kindness with ingratitude?

At that moment someone else had called Xu Mu; he had no idea what Li Yun really thought.

"Sister Yunwu, what's up?" Xu Mu asked with a smile.

"It seems you don't need my help. My people went to Jiang City last night but couldn't find that man. Surprisingly, he admitted his mistake today." Yunwu sounded annoyed that they'd been sent on a wild goose chase.

Xu Mu guessed what had happened: Ma Feng had been captured directly by Lu Xueyao, so Yunwu's people couldn't find him.

"I always believed you. Those online posts were fake." Yun Wu's words were polite — she had started to doubt when she saw the videos, but later realized she'd misunderstood Xu Mu. He was genuinely doing charity work, just like her. So the goddess Moonlit Dancer(Yuexia Duwu) probably didn't lie to her either.

"Thanks, Sister. Also, remember to look into my goddess for me," Xu Mu suddenly reminded.

"I know," Yun Wu said, then hung up in a hurry.

Xu Mu smiled faintly and checked his Fate Points — indeed they had risen a bit. It seemed you could increase Favorability from far away too.

Just as he was about to drive back, his phone rang again. This time it was Jiang Huihui.

He answered.

"Xiao Mu, sorry. Yesterday I argued with my grandfather and almost fainted. I didn't call you. I probably can't help you these days. My grandfather locked me up," Jiang Huihui explained.

"What?" Xu Mu was surprised. If that was true, he'd have to take Chen Xuan to see Jiang Huihui himself.

"By the way, what do you want me to do?" Jiang Huihui asked.

"Tell me your address. I'm coming over — I'll handle your marriage matter," Xu Mu said with a smile, not revealing everything but teasing a bit.

"You wouldn't be—" Jiang Huihui trailed off, embarrassed to speak.

Could Xu Mu be coming to propose in person? Asking to marry her?

Jiang Huihui felt flustered, unsure whether to accept.

"What's wrong?" Xu Mu asked curiously.

"Nothing, nothing." She thought she might be overanalyzing; maybe he had other plans.

After getting the address, Xu Mu called Chen Xuan. It was still early, so he thought they could wrap up Jiang Huihui's matter today.

He drove to Chen Xuan's hotel. Chen Xuan walked out carrying a woven bag, followed by a blonde woman.

Leaning against the car, Xu Mu smiled. "Where did you find this beauty?"

Chen Xuan glanced at the woman and explained helplessly, "I was sleeping last night when someone knocked. I found her drunk at my door and couldn't wake her up."

"Heh! Handsome, sorry — I was too drunk and mistook the room," the blonde apologized with a smile. "You're such a good person. I'll go now."

Xu Mu thought she was not bad-looking. "You're lucky to have run into that."

"Things like this happen all the time. When I gather herbs on the mountain, I also find unconscious women — like three at once," Chen Xuan waved his hand.

Xu Mu was inwardly surprised. Could this guy be born with a heroine-attracting body? If so, Xu Mu roughly guessed the trajectory of Chen Xuan's protagonist life: apart from his senior sister, many women would get tangled with him because of accidents — most likely, the women chase after him.

Xu Mu shook his head slightly. Looks like he'd have to manage those accidents.

"Let's go. I found Jiang Huihui's home. I'll take you there now."

"You're the best, bro. You solved a huge problem for me," Chen Xuan said, thumbs up. "Let's go."
