Around 6am the following morning, Tae Han was already early at work. He sat behind his desk with a stern expression as he reviewed the files. Min Gyu had arrived, and so each day routinely around 7:45am. He glanced into the office, Tae Han was already in. As he got ready for the day, he received an incoming email from the Chairman's office; It stated that Mr. Lee had scheduled a meeting with the Vice- Chairman to be held this morning at exactly 8am.
Min Gyu assumed a slightly tensed firm stance before he knocked and walked into the office. "Good morning, sir." He greeted.
"Good morning," Tae Han briefly replied. "The human resource department hasn't presented their statistics for the first quarter. It's almost the start of April."
Min Gyu stood focused. "The director sent an email this morning saying there has been large processing due to the retail expansion, hence he will submit the report at 10am today sir." Min Gyu replied. Tae Han nodded. "Sir, you have an appointment with the Chairman this morning at 8:00am."
"Did you inform them of our morning schedule?"
"Sir, the message was highlighted at immediate."
Tae Han raised his gaze at the modern clock which leaned on the wall. It was a few minutes to the appointed time. He circled the space between his brows for a while, before he stood and proceeded to his father's office.
Following a firm knock, he opened door and walked in. The room held a solid presence. Awards and landmarks of the winery were vividly and elegantly displayed within.
"You asked to see me Dad."
"You're here, have a seat." Mr. Lee gestured towards the seat across his desk.
Mr. Lee sat fervently. "Tae Han, It's been 2 years since you fully began working at the company. You have indeed done your tasks. Now, for the second and third quarters of the year, you'll be engaged in the vineyard itself."
Tae Han wondered if what he had in mind was what his Dad was implying.
"This year, you'll be directly involved with the pruning and harvest of our vineyard. You'll work closely with the staff and contribute to the harvest."
He was in refute and a hint of denial. Lee Tae Han had never associated himself with the duties of harvest or the countryside, so he took the words with a haze. Seemingly at the forefront of his mind was the corporate functions. "Dad, there are things to be handled here, I can't leave."
"We have staff here as well." Mr. Lee stated. "Each department head will now meet my secretary first and the Human Resources administration, before any said documents are brought to me."
The thought of being away from the company was like a maze to him, and that to the countryside.
"That area Tae Han, is the very essence of our company. I need you to understand and care for the vineyard. This is a formal order given to you. You have a week to inform your board and get set."
He took in a deep breath.
