A ripple swept across the room. From it, Xavier and the rest appeared, drowsy and tired. Without thinking twice, Aiden jumped into the top bed, Jordan following shortly after as he entered the lower bunk.
Morgan and Xavier were left.
"Don't look at me, I am definitely not leaving the lower bunk for you," he yelled.
A flicker of amusement flashed in Xavier's face. "I don't want the lower bed either," Xavier said. "Who the hell will prefer the lower bunk?" He asked.
"People scared of heights," Aiden commented from his bed.
Morgan's face flushed red at the revelation. "I am not the only one; Jordan is also scared of heights."
"You don't have to drag me with you," Jordan said, his tone filled with annoyance.
"Blame Aiden, who started it," Morgan pushed the blame.
"I will stay on the top then," Xavier quickly interrupted, afraid that things would spiral out of hand.
"Good night," Morgan bid, and entered the bed.
Without wasting any more time, Xavier climbed up the ladder, entering the bed on top too.
Unlike Aiden, who could enhance his legs for better jumps, Xavier was a normal person until earlier today.
As he lay on the bed, his mind replayed all the events of the day. From awakening an X-tier skill, to entering the academy, to killing people. As the thought surfaced, his stomach churned wildly. The urge to vomit crept up, but he held.
Then, the green light. Although he promised himself not to think about it for now, he could not help but wonder what it was.
'No, there were lots of positive things that happened too,' he tried to convince himself. "I became a Hero,' he mused.
'I also got new friends,' he thought, a smile blooming across his face. In all his life, he never had any friends due to his social anxiety.
But he was finally getting along with people, troublesome people.
Unknowingly, sleep claimed him. He was too tired after all the things he had gone through.
The alarm rang thunderously across the room, jolting everyone awake.
Unlike the rest, Xavier still appeared groggy from sleep. "Hey, wake up," Aiden threw his pillow at him, killing any remnants of sleep in him.
Xavier's face turned to the clock, which was already getting turned off by Jordan.
"It is just 5:30, why are we up this early?"
"You are having it easy; others wake up at 4 am to bathe and get to class early. You only need to make enough time to bathe, and you are complaining," Morgan said as he came out from his bed.
"Ohh!" Xavier exclaimed.
"Just leave him, he does not know any of these yet," Jordan said, making his way to the bathroom.
The sound of water clashing against tiles was the only sound in the room for another 10 minutes.
'I have to line up to bathe from now,' Xavier sighed.
Jordan soon came out, already dressed in his suit, a blue jumpsuit that felt more like another layer of skin than cloth.
Aiden entered next, coming out in the same attire. Then, Morgan, before Xavier finally entered.
Xavier marveled at the sight. He had thought they were all going to share the same soap, toothbrush brush and towel.
But it was different.
In the bathroom, there were 4 blocks separated by thin glass. A number was written on each of them.
'No wonder the number 4 is on my wardrobe,' he thought as the image of his new wardrobe surfaced.
He took his toothbrush from one of the many provided in the block. 'They even gave 7 toothbrushes,' Xavier thought.
Then, applying toothpaste, he began to wash his mouth in the sink. He washed for over 5 minutes before he felt satisfied. He rinsed his mouth and the brush.
His eyes turned to the bar of soap in a neat case. Beside it was a sponge. Quickly, he pulled all his clothes and began to bathe.
"Why is he taking so long to bathe?" Jordan, the person who was just telling someone to take it easy with Xavier, was the one complaining now.
Before anyone could even talk, they heard a knock on the bathroom door.
"Why is he knocking? Did he fall by mistake, and now thinks he has to knock before leaving a bathroom?" Morgan asked.
But Aiden went closer. "What?"
"I forgot to bring my suit in," he admitted.
"Haha," Aiden laughed.
"What did he say?" Morgan, as curious as always, asked.
"He forgot his suit and boxers, and is scared of coming outside naked," Aiden said.
Although they tried to hold it in, they could not help it. Everyone burst into laughter.
"No, he is our friend, let's leave the room for him," Jordan finally said with a wink.
"Do they think it is possible to prank me?" Xavier sneered. Immediately, he heard Jordan, and he looked outside through a small hole to confirm if they were truly going.
The others, catching the meaning behind his words, nodded. They walked out and slammed the door behind them, enough to let Xavier hear.
"They truly left," Xavier muttered, surprised. "I guess I misjudged them," he sighed, opening the bathroom door.
He walked to his wardrobe and took his boxer. Swiftly, he wore it.
Then, it came to the kinetic suits. Xavier struggled to put on the suit.
"Come here, let me help you," he heard the voice from behind him.
"Thank you, Aiden," he said, already turning back.
Then he froze. He needed no answer for what was happening.
"I forgot his ability," Xavier whispered.
A wide smile was on their lips as they looked at Xavier. "Don't worry, we wouldn't tell a soul," Morgan giggled, his face twisting into a maniacal smile.
"Help me," Xavier said, not even bothering to talk with them. But deep down, he had thought of countless ways to get back at them.
Xavier put on his clothes with the help of Aiden.
"Why don't we walk to class today?" Xavier asked. "I haven't been able to explore since yesterday."
Aiden was about to explain when Jordan pointed Xavier to the clock.
His eyes widened in realization. "Don't worry, we can do that during break."
Then, in a blink, they disappeared.
