Out of everyone in the room, she had chosen him. That wasn't random, it was deliberate.
"What are you doing?" Axel asked. "Out of everyone here, why did you pick me?"
Nile scoffed, clearly unimpressed that he even had to ask.
"Don't act dumb. You know exactly why."
"Actually, I don't. So explain it."
"You got me arrested yesterday, dipshit!"
"I did what?"
"I was humiliated," Nile continued. "Knocked unconscious and dragged away in front of people. I was questioned, accused of being connected to those idiots in REIN all because of you!"
"That wasn't my fault."
"You're the reason they started pointing fingers. You were the one labeled a terrorist first and they thought it was affiliated with you."
"I'm not happy about that," she said. "And I want to beat you so badly that next time you'll think twice before getting involved in things you don't understand."
Axel stared at her for a long moment. Then he laughed quietly.
"That's it? That's why you're angry?" he asked.
