Chapter 18 - Minato's Admiration

Figures flashed across the training ground, leaves swirled, and dust rose.

The speed of the two was constantly increasing, with no fastest, only faster.

Rakawa, who frequently used Earth Release: Gravity Technique to strengthen his body, also displayed impressive speed. Coupled with his Chakra being stable at the Chunin level, he had a tendency to completely overwhelm Minato in terms of speed.

In this match, neither of them used other offensive ninjutsu. It was purely a speed contest, supplemented by Ninja Tools combat, to see who would expose a weakness first and be defeated.

Clang!!!

Ninja Tools clashed, sending out dazzling sparks. The three spectators didn't know where to look.

Often, by the time they located the opponent, the two had already left that spot, leaving only afterimages.

Their extraordinary speed was like lightning streaking across, making onlookers dizzy.

Kushina's eyes were already spinning. She clenched her small fists and waved them, "Rakawa, beat that sissy! He's clearly a sissy, yet he's faster than me!"

"Beat him, beat him!"

Such words made the two brothers instinctively move away a little. This round-faced girl was not to be provoked; she was truly fierce. Minato hadn't even done anything to provoke her.

The two combatants were fully focused, automatically ignoring any unnecessary sounds.

'Rakawa's speed is so fast. I've tried so hard, but I still can't beat him?'

The cheerful and sunny Minato couldn't help but feel a little lost. He was obsessed with speed, obsessed with that feeling of moving like the wind and lightning, and he had put a lot of effort into it.

He had originally thought that he was the undisputed fastest in the school, but after more than ten minutes of sparring, he suddenly realized that he couldn't surpass the other party in terms of speed at all.

Even if he could sense the opponent's movements, it was more due to combat intuition than actually observing their actions.

Also, the opponent hadn't even activated his Byakugan yet. If he were to activate the Byakugan, he would definitely be able to restrict Minato's movements.

Little did Minato know, Rakawa also admired his combat reactions and talent for speed.

Thinking about it carefully, if Rakawa's own strength hadn't already surpassed Minato's, it would have been truly difficult to suppress Minato in terms of speed. Moreover, the current Minato hadn't yet learned the Flying Thunder God Technique. Once he did, his speed would instantly skyrocket.

Space-Time Ninjutsu, a ninjutsu that countless shinobi had never even heard of, yet it truly existed.

'I can't do it, I can't compete at all. Rakawa hasn't even shown his true speed!'

After fighting for a few more minutes, Minato suddenly had the urge to give up. He had realized that Rakawa wasn't using his true speed at all; it was almost as if he was playing around, or perhaps trying to see how fast Minato could truly go.

Now that his speed had reached its peak and couldn't improve further, the match should be nearing its end.

Sure enough, after he had this thought, Rakawa's speed increased again. This time, his afterimages were even fainter, like a ghost, silently appearing behind him.

Rakawa extended a hand, swift as lightning, and instantly grabbed his shoulder.

"What?"

Minato's heart skipped a beat. He instinctively thrust a Kunai backward, but the hand holding the Kunai was suddenly grabbed and bent behind him.

"Hiss!"

Minato gasped, not daring to move recklessly again.

Leaves fell, and the dust settled.

Rakawa held Minato's shoulder with one hand and his other hand with the other. In Minato's hand, a Kunai was still clutched, its tip pressed against the back of his head.

The match had ended in that instant, and the winner was revealed.

Rakawa released Minato, who quickly put away his Kunai and let out a long sigh.

"Your speed is truly too fast, I can't compete at all. Sigh."

He couldn't help but feel a wave of emotion. To be crushed in the one area he was most proud of—speed—left him with mixed feelings and an inexplicable sadness.

Rakawa smiled faintly and said, "Your speed is already very fast. Among Genin, you could already be considered the fastest. Even if Fugaku Uchiha activated his Sharingan, he would find it difficult to observe your movements, so there's no need to belittle yourself."

Minato's expression changed. "Really?"

"Of course."

"So that's how it is, hahaha." Minato scratched his head a little awkwardly and said, "In this school, you're the one I admire the most, absolutely no one else. You're strong in ninjutsu, strong in Taijutsu, and so fast. The position of Top Student should be yours."

"Top Student? That's just a boring title. If you only focus on the position of Top Student, you won't be able to see the wider world."

Minato looked enlightened and exclaimed, "I'm impressed, truly impressed by you. Now I even feel the urge to call you boss."

Rakawa chuckled softly and looked at the three people who were already approaching. He said calmly, "Boss? Young and reckless people always do many things that will seem absurd later on. Hiashi is like that, Hizashi is a little better. But without that kind of drive, one hasn't truly experienced youth."

"It's hard to understand."

The current Minato couldn't possibly comprehend these words and shook his head.

Kushina and the other two had already walked over. Kushina clapped Rakawa on the shoulder and said with a grin, "You won after all, you didn't lose to that sissy. But I will definitely surpass you! I'm going to be the first female Hokage!"

Rakawa glanced at her. He had been displeased with her in the classroom; had her attitude changed just because he complimented her hair color?

Minato, on the other hand, felt sad. Sissy? He was cheerful, alright. Where was he a sissy?

"It's getting late. Everyone go home. See you tomorrow."

Rakawa said, then took the lead to leave. The two Hyuga quickly followed him.

Minato looked around; now only Kushina was left.

"Um, Kushina, how about..."

"Stop, don't call me Kushina. Please address me as Uzumaki Miss. Honestly, a grown man acting like a woman, with no masculinity at all, it's just too much."

Saying this, she glanced in the direction Rakawa had left, then departed from the school.

Minato didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Who had he provoked?
