Another Dou Zun had fallen. In the outside world, such a powerhouse could stand as the pillar of a major faction like the Four Pavilions, yet here, they were nothing more than lambs waiting for slaughter.
As for the corpse of the Hall of Souls Dou Zun, Liu Xi naturally accepted it with a faint smile. A Dou Zun's body was a treasure trove — his storage ring alone was valuable, but even the corpse itself could be put to good use. It was the perfect opportunity to enrich his collection. After all, where else could one so easily acquire a Dou Zun's remains? Wasn't he simply helping the Pill Tower clean up intruders?
By eliminating one of the Hall of Souls' strongest, Liu Xi not only reduced the enemy's top-tier strength but also freed up one of his own.
To kill a Dou Zun as easily as slaughtering a chicken — such an act sent shockwaves through everyone watching. This wasn't just any Dou Zun either, but one from the mysterious Hall of Souls.
Qing Hua stood silent, merely sighing at Liu Xi's ruthless decisiveness before retreating far away. An obsession is still an obsession — but a life is still a life. He no longer dared to covet the Heavenly Flame.
Qiu Ling, however, found the scene utterly satisfying. From the start of this Pill Gathering, the Hall of Souls had sent Mu Gu to cause chaos. If not for Liu Xi, the Pill Tower would've been made a laughingstock.
And then they'd gone even further, barging into the Star Region and unsealing the Three Thousand Burning Flame, only to be struck down by it and finally killed by Liu Xi's hand.
Karma truly spares no one.
The remaining two Hall of Souls Dou Zuns were in an unenviable position. Their power already fell short, and now, with one more gone, their hearts were trembling with fear and rage.
What infuriated them most was that Liu Xi truly dared to kill. Two Dou Zuns had already fallen to his hands in succession — and he showed no signs of stopping.
Fear mixed with hesitation. The two survivors were ready to retreat. Returning empty-handed meant punishment, yes, but punishment was better than death.
"Liu Xi! Don't think you can act so recklessly! Do you know who we—"
The leading Dou Zun shouted fiercely in the midst of combat, trying to use the Hall of Souls' name as a shield. Anyone could see that Liu Xi now held absolute dominance on the battlefield.
But before the man could finish, Liu Xi's calm, emotionless voice cut him off.
"Invaders. You're nothing more than intruders trespassing into the Star Region to steal the Three Thousand Burning Flame. Since you've come, you should already be prepared to die."
With those words, Liu Xi turned away, continuing to pursue the Origin Flame, which seemed to bear its own grudge. The miniature dragon-like flame deliberately veered toward the Hall of Souls Dou Zuns, as though mocking them.
When the first Dou Zun perished, one of the Life Soul Locks binding the main body of the Three Thousand Burning Flame shattered with a sharp crack and faded into nothingness.
The remaining two Dou Zuns widened their eyes — they thought they understood now.
If the Three Thousand Burning Flame could kill the two of them, all the Soul Locks sealing its true body would collapse. Once its Origin Flame returned, it would regain the strength to sweep through the entire Star Region.
'What a cunning beast!'
One of the Dou Zuns spat bitterly, half sneering, half warning. "Can't you see? That creature's trying to kill us to free itself! When we're dead, it'll turn on all of you next!"
Qiu Ling hesitated, his offensive faltering slightly. The man wasn't wrong. Killing the intruders was one thing, but if the Heavenly Flame truly broke free, the first target of vengeance would be the Pill Tower — and the one to suffer would be Holy Pill City itself.
But Liu Xi's two Heavenly Demon Puppets showed no such hesitation. In fact, the second puppet's arrival left their opponent with no room to breathe.
Liu Xi himself remained unconcerned. To him, the Three Thousand Burning Flame was already his — something he could fully control. Of course, that was a secret he would never reveal.
Under his silent direction, the Heavenly Flame's movements appeared chaotic, yet in truth, it was intentionally hunting the Hall of Souls Dou Zuns.
The violet-black miniature dragon, barely a few meters long, streaked through the void surrounded by starry light. Though its power had weakened somewhat from compression, its aura still burned as fiercely as ever.
In the blink of an eye, it lunged toward the Dou Zun currently pinned between the two Heavenly Demon Puppets.
That Dou Zun's face twisted with frustration and fear. If this had happened earlier, he might have rejoiced — but now, with the little dragon targeting him, it felt like death itself had come calling.
He conjured a ball of intertwined Soul Chains to block one of the puppets' devastating punches. The collision shattered the Soul Chains into fragments, the wailing souls within them disintegrating under the sheer might of physical force.
The black-robed Dou Zun's pupils contracted sharply. His courage crumbled.
"Liu Xi!" he shouted hoarsely. "Call off your puppets! Let us leave, and we'll withdraw from this fight. That's our final concession! You've already killed two of our Hall of Souls elders — if you kill us too, our Hall of Souls will never forgive you!"
Liu Xi sneered inwardly. 'As if sparing you now would make you grateful later.'
He had already ruined the Hall of Souls' plans — retaliation was inevitable. These men were merely their vanguard. Better to erase them here and now. As for explanations? The Pill Tower would handle those politics.
From Liu Xi's perspective, Xuan Kongzi might fear the Hall of Souls, but not to the point of surrender. If he truly intended to submit, he'd have handed over the Heavenly Flame long ago.
Just as the black-robed Dou Zun finished speaking, the violet-black dragon shot forward like lightning. The two Heavenly Demon Puppets seized the chance, restraining their foe and creating a perfect opening.
The Dou Zun's eyes bulged as he watched the dragon hurtling toward him. "Liu Xi! The Hall of Souls won't—"
His words ended in a scream as he released a surge of Dou Qi, enveloping himself and the two puppets in a storm of black mist in a desperate attempt to survive.
The dragon didn't hesitate. Its violet-black flames surged wildly as it pierced straight into the mist.
Hiss—!
The black fog lasted only a heartbeat before it was shredded apart. The Dou Zun's shrill cry echoed briefly — then silence.
When the smoke cleared, the dragon had already shot through and flown off, while a lifeless body fell from the air, chest caved in and hollowed through.
The Dou Zun's eyes remained wide open, frozen in disbelief. Dead beyond saving — and unable to rest in peace.
That gruesome sight shattered the sanity of the last surviving Hall of Souls Dou Zun. Watching his final comrade die, he broke into wild, manic laughter, his face twisted with rage and despair.
"Haha! Damn you all — Qiu Ling! Liu Xi! The Heavenly Flame! Wonderful! Let's all die together!"
His body began to expand violently, his aura spiraling out of control as a terrifying storm of energy brewed within him.
Qiu Ling's heart nearly leapt out of his chest. "Not good!"
He turned and fled with every ounce of strength he had. A Dou Zun's self-destruction was no joke.
Boom!
The explosion erupted like the wrath of heaven. A storm of fire and smoke consumed everything, and the void itself trembled violently, as if reality were about to collapse.
A Dou Zun had sacrificed his flesh, Dou Qi, and soul to unleash his ultimate, most devastating attack.
