Chapter 4 - Chapter Four: Sunday In The Study

Adira rang the doorbell, hiding her anxiety.

You'll do well, don't let vulnerability ruin it. Victoria purred.

Alex opens the door, and greets Adira "Hello Adira. That was your name, right?" She nods, entering without asking for direct permission "Yes, that is my name, Mr. Wells."

Alex leads her upstairs to a room with a deep green cushioned couch with dark emerald pillows, a polished wooden desk with a computer and a few stacks of papers, a bookshelf, a glass door leading to a balcony, a crimson red rug, and three deep green cushioned chairs. Adira sits across from him, pulling out the papers and handing them to him. "I have detailed analysis's on your technology design, notes, fixes, things to add, way to make it more efficient, and some extra improvements. The main issue is complication, it's not clear how you adjust and operate it."

You're too professional. You don't make close bonds with people through talking like you're pitching a sales idea. 'But I am pitching a sales idea.' Adira thinks, knowing now that it can reach Victoria, wherever she is. That's besides the point. Do it or never have my help again, I can do more than guide, so it would benefit you to build a bond.

Alex "You good?"

"Hm? Yeah, just thinking about how to improve the design."

I've given you a little... welcoming gift. I'll tell you what it is when it becomes apparent. You'll find it quite useful. Victoria's purr comes through in her head - 'when it becomes apparent'. She really had to wait to give the information that appears the most significant. Great, Just great.

Adira fixes her tone; softer, warmer, but not noticeably. She gradually builds to friendly, slightly partner-like. "I can meet every Sunday and Saturday, I have much more to share. I have to go now, Mr. Wells." Adira stands. "Okay, Adira. And you can just call me Alex."

Better. Your tone influences more than your actions do. I'll explain tomorrow in the morning. Adira goes to the store, picking the most affordable items, like ramen, hot dogs, frozen chicken, etc, knowing she can't afford better. Struggling? Victoria's chuckle felt mocking. The mission assists with that, as well. Nothing's ever only good for one thing.
