Chapter 74: Attack on the Hunnic King's Camp
"Red Spider, are you serious? You can locate the radar that's tracking us? If that's true, I, Fei Biao, will join you in the operation. This old one, Muddy, is injured ... he'll stay and rest here!"
Perhaps he had overheard Red Spider's half-joking words, but the robotic pterosaur Fei Biao sounded completely serious. Had he been wanting to do something like this for a long time?
"No problem! The operator of that thing hasn't moved. I can easily pinpoint the radar's location through counter-tracking. If you back me up, let's go crush these guys! It'll also be a great chance to admire how incredible that Destroyer was back in the day!"
Clearly, Red Spider might have hesitated to destroy the enemy radar alone. But now, with a powerful Dinobot ally at his side, the chances of victory increased dramatically. Though the Huns were formidable, their strength lay in infantry and cavalry. Even if they had wings, they could never match the agility of Red Spider and the robotic pterosaur.
Moreover, since the Hunnic king himself was stationed there, the entire army was restricted ... unable to move quickly or split into smaller units. So when the two colossal figures appeared above them in the sky, panic spread through the ranks, and the men below made an even more foolish move.
"Protect the King! Protect the King! Don't let those two strange birds get near his tent!"
Their desperate shouts to defend the king ended up revealing their leader's location to Red Spider and Dart ... the perfect target.
As the saying goes: to catch the thief, first catch the king.
Almost simultaneously, Red Spider's air-to-ground missiles and the Dinobot's incendiary bombs rained down upon their target.
Boom!
No matter how strong their shields or how brave the steppe warriors were, they were utterly powerless before such overwhelming might. The two small bombs alone caused thousands of defenders to fall or flee in terror.
However, the cunning Hunnic king had already escaped. The one who perished in the explosion was merely an unfortunate decoy.
But Red Spider and Dart's real objective wasn't the king ... it was the radar device, a piece of technology far beyond its era.
In an attempt to hide it, the bumbling black-robed magicians had covered the massive structure with a large dark cloth. What they didn't realize was that Red Spider was tracking them precisely through the radar signals they themselves were emitting ... allowing him to pinpoint the target effortlessly.
"Dart, I think we should make this interesting. How about we each take one shot and see who can destroy the device completely? What do you say?"
Facing an enemy with no air superiority, Red Spider seemed reluctant to end the fight too quickly. His words carried a taunting, almost playful tone ... the kind of mockery that comes from one far above their opponents.
But watching from the shadows, the Hunnic king clenched his teeth in rage. Though the two mechanical beasts in the sky were enormous and terrifying, this ruler of the steppes was not one to bow easily. If only he could send his warriors into the air, he would have struck back with all his fury.
"If only I could summon my master's divine weapon! I was careless this time. I didn't expect these Eclipse people to have the protection of their ancestors. That bird-like creature must be the guardian deity of the Aetherion clan!"
Though he couldn't fight the two Transformers directly, the ancient heritage of the royal Zargoth line allowed him to recognize the mechanical pterosaur. In the long-forgotten war between gods and demons, such a creature had appeared before ... serving under a man known as the Emperor. Back then, it wasn't called Fei Biao, but Aetherion.
Of course, a name was merely a title. The key point was that the balance of victory had now completely shifted in favor of the Eclipse ... something the Hunnic king had never imagined possible.
"Chanyu, we should retreat at once! The Eclipse are clearly prepared ... we can't stand against those two monsters!"
"Damn it! Since when have the warriors of our steppes ever fled? Release the hunting birds! Even if we die, take down at least one of them!"
In addition to their regular troops, the Huns also trained wild beasts to fight alongside them ... including falcons.
Though made of flesh and blood, once summoned by their masters, these winged predators became fierce and unrelenting, diving straight at the mechanical giant flapping its wings in the air.
"Roooaar!"
"Swish! Swish!"
A flock of about thirty birds of prey soared into the sky, led by a massive golden eagle with a wingspan of over five meters. Mistaking the mechanical pterosaur for a living bird, they charged at him recklessly.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
No matter how sharp their talons or powerful their beaks, such attacks could not even scratch the Dinobot's body ... forged from an ultra-cosmic alloy.
Watching feathers rain down from above, Red Spider found the sight absurd. He opened fire with his machine guns, laughing mockingly as he shouted:
"Hahaha! Dart, what's wrong with you? Haven't been in an air battle for too long? You can't even handle a few little birds?"
Red Spider wasn't wrong ... while the raptors couldn't harm the robotic dinosaur, their flight skills and agility made them difficult to catch, easily evading Dart's attacks.
The mockery stung the proud Dinobot deeply. When the next wave of birds came swooping in, he suddenly ascended, spreading his wings ... each one lined with sharp, blade-like spines. His entire body began to spin, turning into a massive, whirling meat grinder.
The suction generated by his rotation was so powerful that no bird daring to approach could escape ... instantly shredded into a storm of blood and feathers.
