Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 - Confrontation

Having fought the Heroes myself, I know that they rely on their ranged companions for support during battle. So should they be incapacitated or be unable to provide that support, their battleplan starts to fail. So seeing one of the "Leonin" henchmen bolt for the mage, I nod a little in acknowledgement with their judgement on the situation.

Fight 1:

Tyriel lets his comrade run first and shadows him. As they both approach the Knight they split left and right. Tyriel glances to his right, probably seeing the rogue leave. He charges faster to the now alone standing Knight's left flank. Striking down with his sword. Parrying the blow with his shield, the Knight lunges forward to try to pierce Tyriel. Two arrows fly past Tyriel towards the other threat. Having no other way to go he backs away a few feet.

"They are doing pretty good. I did not expect that."

Fight 2:

The mage, seeing as he gets charged, puts his hands on the ground to cast a spell. *Rumbling* Suddenly the earth under the feet of the "Leonin" starts to crack and wobble, making him fall to his knees. Probably an "Earth Tremor" spell. The Rogue appears beside him, cutting into him with his daggers. Leaving a gaping wound in the neck. A loud roar can be heard.

Leonin: "Ahh… you little freak."

Swiping with his paw to the place the Rogue just cut, trying to swat him away.

Leonin: "When I get my hands on you!"

Taking back his stance he stands reading himself.

The rogue now stands between Leonin and the Mage. Suddenly both of them start glowing in a faint golden colour. The Priest seems to have cast a support spell. It should be "Bless" making it easier for the both of them to hit their target. With the Leonin back on his feet he starts his run again towards the rogue, trying to swipe at him with a horizontal slash. With the Rogue's noble body, a duck is all that's needed to avoid the attack, giving him the opportunity to close the distance to the Leonin. With a jumping motion landing another hit. As the Leonin tries to grab his cut chest, a small flaming ball crashes into his feet, burning him and letting him once again drop down to a knee.

Fight 1:

Tyriel, having now the Ranger in his sight, races towards her. Quick movement from her lands her at the back of the knight. Seeing as the lung from the Knight did not connect he resumes a defensive position. Eris the Ranger taps the back of the Knight, prompting both to switch places, stopping Tyriel with his shield again, while Eris shoots at the other Leonin, hitting him and letting vines sprout from the arrow in his shoulder. The vines now hold him in place, unable to move from there. Having parried again, the knight once again tries lunging forward with his sword and grazing Tyriel on his hand.

Tyriel: "Hmpf. Not half bad. But you'll need to do better to win!"

Licking his wound, stopping the bleeding instantly.

Knight: "Don't worry. It seems as though you are losing already."

The Knight gives a little nod over to the other fight.

Arrows start flying.

Fight 2:

A scream can be heard. Arrows protruding from the back of the Leonin. The Mages fingers start freezing. With a swift handmotion towards the Leonin, ice spears start flying. Hitting the target. Icy holes where armor and flesh once was. Without any sound the Leonin plummets to the ground. Unmoving.

Mage: "...I guess cats and cold water really don't mix well."

"Did he really just say that?"

Fight 1:

Tyriel, hearing his companion hitting the ground, starts a fierce attack volley onto the Knight. Eventually grabbing the shield and landing a big hit with his sword across the Knights chest. A loud scream. Eyes darting towards the knight. The Priest is the first to start running. Eris is holding the other Leonin still captive with her veins. A bolt of fire rushes past her, hitting the captured Leonin. Tyriel now holds the shield high up with the knight still attached. Sudden pain in Tyriel's foot. The rogue has landed another hit. Slicing into his right leg. Before Tyriel can even move to counter, a spell is activating right under him. Paralyzing him instantly. He glances at the Priest. "Hold Person", a powerful tool in such a chaotic fight, but needing preparation to cast. The second henchmen hitting the ground as Eris can be seen pulling one of her arrows out of his head.

"I really did not expect them to do this well. Maybe even too good."

The Knight still attached to his shield is grinning.

Knight: "I guess we were the better team after all."

Plunging his sword into the face of Tyriel. His body is not falling due to the effect of the "Hold Person" spell. Eventually releasing Tyriel, falling down and letting the Knight back to the ground. The Priest is right next to him."

Priest: "Next time, try not to get hit like that. A little deeper and it would have killed you. I am sure of that.

Knight: "I am fine. I have a great Priest with me."

Giving her a genuine smile.

"God damn. How did they kill them!"

Rogue: "So… are we still on our day off right?"

Knight: "I guess so, but I think I'll take it a little easy from here."

They all laugh. Then people start coming out of their houses, cheering, like these three monsters didn't just kill a bunch of their neighbours and friends. I guess they are just happy to be alive themselves.

"What do I do now? I guess I'll just leave for now. Eris should be fine now, it does not appear that they are suspicious in any way. Great."

I stand back up, turn around and head the way I came, but a hand grabs my wrist.

Villager: "Come on, the Heroes are paying for drinks!"

I get dragged towards that building they came out of.

"What is happening?"

The crowd keeps pushing me towards the building and into it, where I find myself on the table right next to the Heroes.

"Oh no no no no no, this is bad! I need to leave before someone figures something out!"

All: "To our saviours! The Heroes!

They all clank their drinks together. Start talking about what they saw, and how amazing the Heroes thought. I can physically feel myself get angry. They didn't do that great of a job. Then it happened.

Ren: -disguised- "Ha! Good? Not really, some parts were pretty sloppy."

Silence starts spreading throughout the tavern.

"Did. Did I just say that loud?

The silence is practically killing me. Then the Knight turns to me, a grin on his face.

Knight: "Ohhh, do tell my friend."

"I think I really fucked up just now. Help!"
