"You're sure you want to go there?"
Aria helped Marcus into the passenger seat of the car Viktor had arranged, and concern showed in her expression as she watched him wince from the movement despite the pain medication.
"I'm sure," Marcus said firmly. "I need to be somewhere that feels like home. Viktor's safe house is functional, but it's not home."
"Your house has too many old memories," Aria said carefully. "Are you ready to face those?"
"I need to face them eventually," Marcus said. "And I'd rather do it with you there than continue avoiding the place forever. Besides, I want to make new memories there, better ones that don't hurt."
Dmitri drove while Viktor sat in the passenger seat coordinating security measures remotely, and the trip through Manhattan toward Marcus's old house took forty minutes in morning traffic.
