Chapter 62 - Chapter 61 - The Flame of Ambition

"Obviously not," Daenerys replied without a second thought, her tone firm.

"Then what does my beautiful princess desire?" Cadmus asked gently, acting like a demon whispering into the ear of its prey.

Their faces drew closer until their noses lightly brushed. Cadmus and Daenerys stared at each other, locked in place, while the air between them seemed charged with electricity.

"We could conquer Essos," she said, hypnotized by those dark green eyes. She leaned in even closer, their lips grazing softly.

"You truly see me as a God," Cadmus said with a laugh. "The continent of Essos is not so simple; it is an even wilder land of mages, occultists, and monsters."

"If we truly conquer any Free City, we will be targets from all sides. They will put a price on our beautiful heads. Mages from every corner of the world will focus their blades on us. Are you sure you want that?" Cadmus asked, looking directly into the lilac eyes he so loved to see.

"Is Cadmus Peverell afraid?" Daenerys asked with a smile, adjusting herself on his lap. She sat facing him, a provocative grin on her lips.

Cadmus laughed and, with a swift movement, pressed Daenerys against the sofa, his body pinning hers without leaving an inch of space. Daenerys's hair spread across the cushions like silver threads, faintly reflecting the light of the surrounding torches.

"Do you think provoking me is a good idea, my beautiful princess?" Cadmus asked with a dangerous smile. The look made a shiver run down Daenerys's spine, not a bad shiver, but a pleasurable one.

Smiling, the princess softly kissed his neck and whispered into the mage's ear, "Was I wrong to think you were afraid?"

Cadmus had to admit, those words truly piqued him. Fear? Even if a damn god walked the earth again, he would have the courage to kill and dissect it in the name of science, let alone fear mere mages, lords of the Free Cities, demons, or monsters.

Looking into eyes full of irony, arrogance, and power, she felt that pleasurable shiver again. she realized she enjoyed being slightly dominated by Cadmus. At the same time, she felt he was more handsome than ever. This was the man she had chosen; only mediocre people lack arrogance.

"I'm not afraid, just too lazy to deal with ants at every turn." Cadmus stroked Daenerys's face with his palm, her skin soft and warm to the touch. "If you have no fear, come with me, and let us bathe the Magister's Palace of Pentos in blood."

Daenerys rubbed her cheek against Cadmus's palm, feeling more secure than ever. Showing a smile, she said in a soft tone, "Now is not the right time; our dragons must grow to create a sense of intimidation."

"But if you wish, I can accompany you," she said, looking into Cadmus's eyes with a somewhat frightening gaze. A white flame seemed to reflect in the depths of her eyes.

Narrowing his eyes, Cadmus couldn't help but think that power truly changes people. Now that Daenerys felt the power within her and possessed a dragon, the princess's ambition was greater than ever.

Even her personality had shifted slightly. No, this was the personality Daenerys had always hidden beneath a mask of a sweet, gentle, and graceful princess. Just as the Daenerys of another world had not hesitated to burn King's Landing and all half-million people in it, the Daenerys before him had not changed at all.

However, Cadmus said nothing, nor did he try to change her. Cruelty was a trait of almost every tyrant in the world, and the small, delicate princess beneath him was a tyrant of the highest caliber.

Yet, for some reason, in his eyes, Daenerys had never been as beautiful as she was at this moment. He remembered his grandfather telling him to run from crazy women, but what could he do now? He truly enjoyed standing beside danger.

Suddenly, feeling a pair of arms wrap around his neck, Cadmus heard Daenerys's voice, pulling him from his deep thoughts. "Cadmus, I want to marry you. Be my husband until our death."

Our death, not yours... Cadmus noted that small detail. Was the girl planning to kill him so they could go to hell together?

"I will ask for your hand in marriage tomorrow," Cadmus said firmly. He was not an indecisive man; if Daenerys wanted to marry, he would marry her.

"Let's have some fun before that," she said, giving him a look that was anything but proper for a princess.

Cadmus laughed and leaned into her face, claiming her lips in a hot, deep, and anything but gentle kiss. Cadmus didn't care for gentleness, so the kiss quickly turned into a fierce battle, nipping at each other's lips, sucking, and pushing.

Daenerys gripped Cadmus's hair tightly as he did the same to her; both seemed completely lost in the struggle. The torchlight cast flickering shadows of the two bodies intertwining on the sofa.

Daenerys was breathing heavily as Cadmus's kisses on her neck left her body weak. Kissing her neck greedily, Cadmus left a mark on Daenerys's fair skin, red and conspicuous.

"Shall we go to bed, my princess?" Kissing Daenerys's chin, Cadmus asked with a sly smile. The princess felt no fear; she pulled down the straps of her nightgown, but since she was lying on the sofa, only her shoulders were exposed.

Cadmus couldn't help but admire the girl; it was her first time, yet she was incredibly brave and didn't hesitate for a second.

Suddenly, someone knocked on Cadmus's door, making the mage's expression turn extremely somber. He refused to accept that he was suffering through one of those clichés where a couple is always interrupted.

"Cadmus?" However, Rhaella's voice made both Cadmus and Daenerys's eyes widen.

Looking at each other, both saw the helplessness in the other's eyes. It wasn't just Cadmus who wanted it; Daenerys was equally anxious to experience carnal pleasures with him.

Letting out a helpless sigh, Cadmus climbed off Daenerys and sat on the sofa. Daenerys didn't act nervous or shy; she simply sat on his lap and looked at the door with a very dissatisfied expression. When she sat up, her white nightgown fell, revealing the princess's nudity, a pair of breasts the size of two apples. Tempting, soft, and undeniably beautiful.

Cadmus looked down and very much liked what he saw. He didn't have a specific type of woman; whether breasts were large or small, both could satisfy his greedy heart.

Rhaella, who was on the other side of the door accompanied by the old knight Barristan Selmy, was about to knock again when the door opened. Looking into the room, her expression showed a touch of surprise.

"Guard the door, Barristan," Rhaella said as she entered. The old Kingsguard knight closed the door without even glancing at the scene inside. If there was one thing he had learned in his long life in the Kingsguard, it was that the royal family's life was chaotic and hedonistic. Even the King hadn't escaped this, as Barristan also guarded the door while the King slept with both his queens.

In the room, Rhaella looked at Daenerys sitting on Cadmus's lap with an amused look. She hadn't expected her daughter to be so bold as to enter a man's room in the middle of the night. Looking at the red marks on her daughter's neck and shoulder, Rhaella knew things had been quite heated before she arrived.

"It seems I've interrupted," the Queen Mother said, looking at Daenerys, whose breasts were now exposed with her nightgown gathered at her waist.

She didn't wait for a response from Daenerys, who was clearly full of dissatisfaction—which the Queen could understand, but she hadn't come to visit Cadmus casually. There were important matters at hand.

"Just now, Lord Monford sent a raven warning that a fleet of ships is approaching King's Landing," Rhaella said with a solemn expression.

Cadmus looked toward the sea and felt a dozen magical auras; the strongest felt like a small lighthouse in the middle of a dark sea.

Embracing Daenerys's waist, Cadmus asked the princess with a smile, "What do you feel?"

Daenerys frowned and looked in the same direction as Cadmus. She closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, there was a look of surprise on her face.

"Dozens of flames... there is one very large one, much stronger than all the other flames," Daenerys said in a surprised tone, all her dissatisfaction at being interrupted vanishing in the face of such a new sensation.

Cadmus said with a laugh:

"The one you are sensing is Kinvara, High Priestess of the Red Temple of Volantis, the Flame of Truth, the Light of Wisdom, and the First Servant of the Lord of Light."
