[— Manga Scene —]
"Just as you expected, I was feigning when I formed those seals, to lure you into falling for this trap." Ino said with a mocking smile after managing to ensnare Sakura and bind her in place using her severed hair.
"How does that feel? You can't move at all, can you?"
"It's a special thread made from chakra conducted through the strands of my hair." Ino continued her explanation calmly.
"Now, the match will end once I enter your body and make you surrender."
"I will not fail, without a doubt!" Ino formed the seal of her clan's signature technique, directing it at Sakura. This time, she left no room for her opponent to maneuver.
"I see…" said Kakashi.
"That idiot… she was acting like she was furious," said Shikamaru.
'Geh… I can't move…' Sakura felt the danger closing in.
"Now… Ninja Art, Mind Transfer Jutsu!!" In the next moment, her body collapsed as she lost all control of it.
On the other side, Ino smiled from within Sakura's body.
"Hehehe, nice try… Sakura!!"
"Sakura-san…"
"Ohhh!!" Both Rock Lee and Naruto were left in bewildered uncertainty about where this battle was headed.
[— End Scene —]
Breath held still for a moment throughout the Art Store, as every pair of eyes remained fixed on the manga page displaying the final scene, Ino's body falling limp and motionless, and Ino's wicked smile spreading across Sakura's face, announcing the success of the Yamanaka clan's technique.
It was not merely the end of a chapter, but the closing of an entire volume, leaving in its wake shock and breathless anticipation in the hearts of every reader, whether in Konoha or across all other Art Stores.
...
In a particular corner of the Art Store in Konohagakure, tension held absolute dominion. Inoichi Yamanaka, who had been following the girl who might one day be his daughter with eager eyes, felt a smile of pride spread across his face, one he could not conceal.
Ino had proven herself a worthy heir to her clan, and that his training had not been in vain.
"She did it!" Inoichi whispered to himself, his eyes gleaming.
"She didn't hesitate. She used the clan's technique at the decisive moment. That is what sets a Yamanaka shinobi apart, the ability to exploit an opponent's weaknesses and seize control of their mind."
"I thought she cut her hair to show that her resolve was no less than Sakura's, but who could have imagined she actually did it to make it part of her plan… truly remarkable."
"She's wonderful…" Not far from Inoichi sat a teenage girl with brown hair and a face bearing a slight resemblance to Ino's, wearing that very same smile now drawn in the manga.
That was the smile on her face at this very moment.
Who could have guessed that this woman would one day be Ino's mother, and Yamanaka Inoichi's wife? Perhaps no one.
At least not yet.
Hearing his words, Inoichi smiled.
For some reason, he felt an inexplicable pull toward this woman, an ordinary civilian, not even a shinobi.
…
Not far away, Shikaku Nara wore a faint smile, while Chōza Akimichi shook his head in admiration.
"Who would have expected that Ino was more than just a girl competing over Sasuke?" said Shikaku.
"She displayed tactical intelligence well beyond her years. She used Sakura's anger against her and drove her straight into the trap. This isn't just strength, it's genuine mental brilliance."
"But… will Sakura really surrender so easily?"
Chōza wondered, recalling the strength of will Sakura had shown in previous chapters, all while helping himself to another handful of chips, thinking he would miss this feeling for quite some time now that the current volume had come to its end.
"The Mind Transfer Technique is powerful, but it's not without its weaknesses."
Even he, as a member of the current Ino-Shika-Chō trio, was well aware of that.
…
The Haruno family (In the near future), meanwhile, had been plunged into shock and worry.
Kizashi and Mebuki, who had been watching Sakura with pride just a few scenes ago, now wore expressions of sorrow and anguish.
"Sakura… is she really going to lose?"
Mebuki whispered, squeezing Kizashi's hand tightly, "I didn't know Ino was this powerful."
"It can't end like this, unfortunately, the current volume ends right here," said Kizashi, trying to reassure both himself and Mebuki.
"Sakura isn't the type to give up easily. There has to be something… There has to be a way."
Even so, neither he nor Mebuki had any idea how Sakura could overcome a dangerous technique like the Mind Transfer Jutsu.
It was a technique that defied their understanding, yet they had seen it before, when Ino had used it on the girl from the Sound Village team in the Forest of Death.
Back then, its impact had been truly stunning.
Now, how on earth would Sakura manage to overcome something like this?
…
Among the gathered readers, Minato and Kushina exchanged glances.
"An interesting technique," Minato remarked.
"Mind control is one of the most dangerous jutsu in existence. Ino has shown a remarkable degree of mastery over it at this age."
"But I sense something strange," said Kushina, staring at the final page.
"Sakura… she has an inner strength that hasn't surfaced yet. I don't believe this is the real ending."
"Perhaps… though this may genuinely be the limit of what Sakura can do. Still, I trust there will be a surprise in the next volume."
Minato added with a smile.
...
As for Orochimaru, he was watching the scene with a cold smile.
"Emotions… a weakness and a strength, all at once," he murmured.
"Ino used Sakura's emotions against her. But what if Sakura possesses emotions far stronger, a will that transcends mental control? That is what makes these exams so interesting."
Who could have anticipated that such a reaction would come from the infamous Orochimaru? Both Jiraiya and Tsunade were momentarily stunned.
But after that, they could do nothing but agree with him.
…
In another corner, the younger readers were trading commentary.
"Wow! Ino won!" one cried out.
"The Yamanaka clan technique is incredible!"
"But Sakura hasn't surrendered yet!" another replied.
"Maybe she can fight back from the inside!"
"Nonsense… I like Ino more than Sakura. I think she's going to win."
"I find both of them annoying, honestly. Is there any way they could both lose?"
"Hahaha!! Man, I'm with you on that."
"This volume started on fire with Sasuke's fight and ended with a girls' battle… what a shame."
"Well, at least there's hopefully no more girls' fights in the next volume."
…
Back in Sunagakure, Grandmother Chiyo shook her head with a knowing wisdom.
"Konoha possesses a wide variety of techniques. But what matters most is the fighting spirit. These two girls are showing a formidable will, and that is what makes a great shinobi, regardless of technique."
"I see that our village's children are calmer and possess an overwhelming fighting spirit…"
Ebizō offered from his side of the room.
"I'm also looking forward to seeing Temari's battle…"
The Kazekage said with a smile that, for some reason, he had found himself drawn to these girls' battles.
As the volume closed, everyone felt as though they were standing at the very edge of a cliff. The manga had left them suspended at a pivotal moment, caught between victory and defeat, between control and resistance.
For some reason, with every volume's end, the shinobi world found itself waiting for the next one with restless impatience, sinking into the depths of anticipation.
Such was the power of the manga.
