A huge explosion shook the ground as if it were about to swallow them up.
The walls of the tunnel cracked, and chunks of dirt and stone collapsed.
Dust flew everywhere until they could no longer see each other clearly.
Yusuf shouted:
"Watch out! The ceiling is collapsing!"
Moments later, a huge mass fell on the side of the tunnel where Uri was lying.
The place shook with a thunderous cry:
"Noooooo!"
Daniel rushed to reach him, but the dust was suffocating and the stones blocked the way.
He heard his voice breaking through the rubble:
"Save me! I'm a soldier! They can't leave me here! I fought for them... Why... Why did they abandon me?!" "Traitors... Traitors...!"
Then his voice gradually faded... until it disappeared completely.
A terrifying silence fell, broken only by the roar of the air raids above and the groaning of the tunnel as it slowly collapsed.
Daniel sat stunned, his heart breaking with each of Uri's last words:
"He... he didn't die as a soldier. He died as a man betrayed by his army, his country, and the lie he lived for."
Yusuf approached him amid the dust, his voice calm despite the catastrophe:
"That's how they do it... they leave their sons to die alone. But we... we don't leave each other, even if it costs us our lives."Daniel turned to him, his eyes filled with fear and confusion:
"Are we going to die here too?"
Yusuf was silent for a moment, then said in a steady tone:
"Death is inevitable... but the question is: will we die as traitors? Or will we die as loyal men?"
The two remained together in the narrow space of the tunnel, trapped between the rubble and the darkness... while above them, the sky continued to explode.
