"Yu'er you-" Master Ru attempted to scold Feng Yu lest she should anger the old lady. However, he was stopped by the wave of the old lady's hand.
"If by that you mean my status, then I've come from a far-off place which no one here would be aware of, so there's really no need for me to share that. However, if you mean my name, then you can just refer to me as Elder Jing," Elder Jing answered amiably.
"Then, Elder Jing," Feng Yu lightly bowed with clasped hands, "What had happened to you earlier? Why were you lying there in the middle of the road? If our carriage had not stopped in time, then it could have been dangerous for you."
"This…" Elder Jing hesitated a bit and continued, "Let's just say…my journey was longer than expected. I must have fainted from exhaustion,"
Feng Yu's brows developed a subtle frown, and she was about to question further when Yi Chen intervened from her side.
"Yu'er, I think Elder Jing must be tired and confused after just waking up. I think we should let her settle here and rest for the night."
When Elder Jing heard this, her opinion of Yi Chen improved tremendously, and a grateful expression formed on her face.
"Ah!" Feng Yu subtly exclaimed, realising her mistake, and apologised to Elder Jing, "I apologise for my oversight, Elder Jing. We'll arrange a different room for you so you can rest there for the night."
"I'll be really grateful if you do that," Elder Jing readily agreed. In reality, her heart has been tensed the entire moment as there were things she needed to check this instant, but couldn't because of everyone's presence.
"Guide Elder Jing to another guest room and help her with anything that she requires." Reading the situation, Master Ru immediately ordered a nearby maid.
With a thankful nod, Elder Jing soon left the room, and the atmosphere in the room lightened a little.
Now that the three of them were alone, Feng Yu immediately questioned her father, "Father, why did you look so frightened? What is that lady's identity?"
Seeing her daughter's confusion, Master Ru showed the jar containing 'Golden Firmament Pills' to her and said, "It was because of these pills…"
"About these pills…are they really precious?" Yi Chen couldn't hold back his curiosity anymore and asked.
"Precious? That would be an understatement," Master Ru said as he gazed deeply at those twenty or so pills inside the jar, "I've only heard about these pills in my entire life, never would I have thought that I would be so fortunate to see them for myself."
"You haven't seen these pills before?" Feng Yu asked in surprise.
'Even though father had never seen them before, he still became so astonished at their mention…just what exactly are these pills?' Feng Yu knitted her brows in thought.
Seeing Feng Yu's reaction, Master Ru gently opened the lid of the jar as a strong aromatic smell like no other filled the room, which confirmed the conjecture in Master Ru's mind.
Both Feng Yu's and Yi Chen's eyes widened in astonishment as the heavenly smell entered their nostrils.
"These pills…it's said that they have the power to save a person even from the brink of death. In the entire Light continent, it is only the Silver Cloud Kingdom that has the means to create these pills. However, they too can only produce a batch of five every hundred years…"
Master Ru paused to close the lid back, his hands trembled a little at the process and continued, "So, the number of pills in my hand is quite unbelievable…it could only mean one thing. Elder Jing has a background which is incomparable to even the number one Kingdom of our continent. Hence, we must make sure not to offend her in any manner."
"Incomparable to even Silver Cloud Kingdom?" A gasp escaped Feng Yu's mouth at this realisation.
Meanwhile, a turbulent wave of excitement was rising within Yi Chen's chest after he heard this news, as a particular string of thought ran through his head.
'For real? Doesn't that mean that she might have come from a higher realm altogether? This means that the pendant of hers must have even better goodies than these pills. It's decided then. I must try to win her favour in the days she's here,'
However, unlike Yi Chen, a hint of worry appeared on Feng Yu's face the next moment, "Father then won't these pills bring more trouble to us than benefits…"
A worried expression formed on Master Ru's face as well when he heard this.
'I can trust Feng Yu and Yi Chen to keep this matter a secret…but what about the two guards and the maid who overheard this…There's no choice then I must-' before Master Ru could continue on with his string of thoughts, Yi Chen gave a suggestion.
"Isn't that a pretty small issue? Elder Jing must have some divine pills that could obscure memory, or she might even have such skills…"
"Chen'er, you're a genius! With this, we won't have to resort to that!" Feng Yu exclaimed delightfully as brightness returned to her eyes.
She had already figured out what her father was thinking, so when she heard Yi Chen's suggestion, she was filled with great relief. Each and every worker of the household was precious to her, so she really didn't want her father to resort to such extreme measures.
"Haha…it was just a passing thought," Yi Chen said embarrassingly when he saw such a strong reaction from Feng Yu.
'Isn't this just basic cultivation world knowledge…' he thought to himself with an uncomfortable smile on his face.
"That was really a great suggestion, Xiao Chen," Master Ru patted him on his shoulder and continued, "the more I see you, the more I feel that I'm lucky to have a son-in-law like you, haha!"
Hearing this, a trace of embarrassment formed on Feng Yu's face. However, she too subtly nodded to her father's words.
At this sudden overload of praise, Yi Chen could continue to smile uncomfortably and wait for Master Ru to stop laughing.
"Alright then, it's quite late, so the two of you should go and rest," Master Ru said after a while as the three of them made their way out of the guest quarters.
"Yes, father," Feng Yu nodded along with Yi Chen, and while nodding towards Yi Chen with a delicate expression, left for her chambers. Yi Chen, too, did the same soon after.
