Chapter 18 Class Change Quest?
Narrator's POV
Akira walked calmly through the area of the third floor, right where he had stopped last time. The whole place was already completely cleared of enemies, so nothing was stopping him from advancing to the fourth floor.
Thanks to his cursed energy, every time he leveled up, it increased as well. Even though the system labeled it as MP, Akira didn't really care what it was called—as long as he could use it, the name didn't matter.
Crossing into the new floor, Akira found a scene similar to the previous one: an entire city contained within a single level. However, there was one major difference. This time, the fire burning everywhere glowed a dark pink, giving the area an even more infernal look. Still, Akira didn't pay much attention to that detail.
What really caught his attention were the demons. They were everywhere. A smile spread across his face, his eyes gleaming with a mix of excitement and danger.
The challenge was exactly what he needed. With a fluid motion, he drew his weapons—Kasaka's dagger and a new purchase from the system's shop. This second dagger was striking: its hilt was black with subtle crimson accents, and its blade, longer than usual, had sharp blood-red edges with a black core.
Though its size made it look more like a short sword, the system classified it as a dagger, so Akira didn't bother questioning it.
"Got myself a new toy," he said with a grin, preparing to dive into battle.
> [Item: Demon Blood Dagger]
[Rank: A+]
[Effect: +35% damage against demons]
Akira dashed forward at incredible speed. In the blink of an eye, he was among a group of demons, and with a single swift motion, he sliced through them like a shadow. Their heads hit the ground before they even realized what had happened.
A notification appeared before his eyes:
> [Notification]
[Skill Acquired: Quicksilver]
[Description: Increases user's speed by 30%, consuming 1 MP per minute. Speed increases further as the skill levels up.]
"A new skill, huh? Not bad," he said with a confident smirk.
He activated Quicksilver immediately. His body became a blur too fast for the demons to follow. Each one fell without even understanding what had struck them. He appeared behind them with a faint grin, as if merely playing around.
Suddenly, a much larger demon tried to crush him with a massive kick, but Akira ducked with feline agility, dodging easily. With a single counter-kick, he sent the demon flying, crashing straight through a building as if it were made of paper.
"Whoa… since when am I this strong?" he muttered, dodging more attacks while finishing off his enemies with clean, precise strikes from his daggers.
He hadn't really tested his new strength until now, and as he fought, he realized his growth wasn't just in speed or skills—it was raw power, too. Each strike was devastating; the demons barely had time to breathe before being wiped out.
And what about The Beast Style, the fighting method Akira had once learned? Well, truth be told, he no longer used it. At this point, he considered it obsolete. With his current stats, it didn't serve him much anymore. Akira now fought with refinement—he didn't attack blindly. He analyzed, calculated, and executed with precision. So yes… he had left The Beast Style behind. It had been useful once, but now, it was no longer necessary.

Later, Akira sat peacefully eating in a safe zone within the Demon Tower—far from any monsters, free from interruptions. He had stored his food inside his inventory and was enjoying it calmly. He was currently on the seventh floor, which meant he had cleared four levels since the last time he left. He had no idea exactly how much time had passed, but judging by his hunger, it had to be several hours.
"I think I should head out soon…" he murmured between bites. "Thanks to my new Quicksilver speed, I can take down demons way faster. The best part is it only uses 1 MP per minute, so I could run it for a whole hour and only spend 60 MP… That's a steal—30% more speed for just 1 MP a minute."
He said it with a smile before taking a drink straight from a bottle he'd pulled from his inventory. His eyes narrowed slightly as a thought crossed his mind.
"Kinda reminds me of the Shinigamis' Flash Step…" he commented to himself, taking another sip.
Akira had already surpassed level 40. In fact, he was now at level 42, which he'd reached recently after non-stop fighting against demons.
Then, another notification appeared before him:
> [Notification]
[Player has reached the required level. Class Change Quest is now available.]
Seeing the floating screen, Akira froze for a second—then spat out his drink in pure shock.
"Finally! This is what I've been waiting for!" he shouted excitedly, staring at the message he'd longed to see. "Of course! I want to start the quest right now!"
Excitement completely took over him. At that moment, nothing else mattered—resting, returning, exploring more—none of it compared to the chance to change his class. He had trained, fought, and endured countless challenges for this very opportunity.
Suddenly, a large black portal tinged with violet hues opened before him. More than a portal, it looked like a distorted rift in space—like a wound torn into reality itself.
Akira immediately stood up, clenching his fists as a wide grin spread across his face. A rush of adrenaline, excitement, and anticipation coursed through him. He was ready: he had eaten, rested, and his fatigue level was at 0%. There couldn't be a better time.
"At last… I've made it to where I wanted to be. I can't even describe this feeling…" he murmured, staring at the rift as if he could see his destiny waiting beyond it.
With that, Akira stepped forward and crossed the portal. On the other side, he appeared in a long, elegant corridor illuminated by flickering blue fire torches. The walls were polished stone, adorned with dark banners and ancient symbols.
"It's even more elegant up close…" he said softly, his footsteps echoing against the marble floor.
