Chapter 2 - Whispers At The Tavern

The next day Cap ventured out into the same Deywood Street to look for the fox girl selling vampire food.

Caprice Redleaf was a woman, still in her 20s from Kooklyrn Fexus and she was a chief board member from a large warehouse company. She was turned into a vampire by Ehremeus, just one year back when they met at an official Soiree at their company event.

She was 5.8 ft tall, pretty, had a slender body and brown hair.

She glared cautiously at all the commotion taking place at the bustling little street market, it was quite a cute show, Cap thought.

A small and quaint market below the hills; the footpaths were made from cobblestone, unlike the streets in the city side, concrete pedastals and huge traffic jams with larger roads for cars, some stalls were decorated from wood and trees, there were lots of pine trees and trees were everywhere, even right beside the shops at the market, and some shops were made with stones and conctete plasters.

Like the one she noticed a few moments ago, The Red Button Tavern, this was a bar, tucked away in between a hoard of trees surrounding it, and there was a signboard large and prominent at the entrance from where you could have a glimpse of the huge wooden door. Cap wondered how nice this would have looked in the night time, with all the decorative lights that give this Tavern the splendour of illuminating accents in such quaint wilderness.

Suddenly just after the Tavern, she noticed a wooden stall colored in pink and blue, the dark shade from the taller trees nearby that covered the sunlight gave the stall a certain mysterious tint of sunlight hue, as small drops of the suns rays still managed to drop on the front of her stall window.

"Humph! 'Vampire Food Business'? What a bland name for such a rare sighting, her shop even stands in the shade of trees to hide the sunlight. Things couldn't have been more interesting than this. Let me just walk over." Cap thought to herself as she strutted towards the Vampire Food Business stall with an unnervingly intimidating smile on her face.

Skeal appeared attentive and she kept an eye on each passerby walking by the street, and suddenly her attention was struck when she spotted an exceptionally white and pale beautiful woman with an enormous smile on her face, she immediately suspected her for a vampire, Skeals eyes moved quickly around her body to check for protection charms as Cap kept moving closer towards the shop, walking just as any human would; and there it was, a light refracting snake soul totem bracelet on her wrist.

Skeals eyes sparkled from the thrill, as though she was obsessed with the vampire kinds, she smiled to the customer and asked.

"Hello, welcome to the Vampire Food Business, My name is Skeal. Are you looking for vampire food, for yourself. Is there something you would like to try." Skeal looked at her and asked.

"Well, there's not really anything I'm looking for, but I was quite inquisitive about the food here. Are they compatible with just real vampires or can humans and other kinds have them too? I heard vampire food around here can get people into a bit of a pickle."

"Why yes, my friend, this food here is edible for all kinds of beings, except it is specially designed in the labs for Vampires, since they do not usually eat any food but live on blood. And when you say 'a pickle' what exactly could you mean by that, Oh dear wanderer? Did you hear something about us, from somebody? I don't think I would intend to harm anybody without a cause, of course." Skeals eye sparkled as she wore a hint of a sarcastic smirk on her face, a subliminal hint that she takes shit from nobody.

"So...you're a maid in an apron that cooks food for vampires in the lab. There must be some kind of a twisted vampire obsession dwindling within you...never have I witnessed any human, work this hard for other kinds, especially being that we're considered dangerous kinds, ah the only kinds that would never really care about someone like you. Ah! where are my manners, Perhaps, I should express some gratitude. " Cap stared at the list of Menu.

"Well I have to admit, I am from an entirely different world than yours. Forgive my words, but I'm not a blood sucking scavenger like you. And you appear as though you have yet to learn so much discipline and training in your vampiric form. But, in this, community we follow the codes of safety that is very carefully woven with the fragility of peace and harmony. And as for these food products, they are combined with potent formulas that suppress your hunter instincts and thirst for human blood. We're a piece of haven and we cannot expect any kinds of vampire animosity here. As for your boyfriend Ehremeus, who was here earlier, when he ate that royal blood sausage, it reacted with all the other impure and impotent blood that he fed on before he came here, and the chemical reaction that began flushing out dehumanized and impure toxins, made his heart beat faster than any humans would, he wasn't dying from a heartbeat, he was experiencing the essence of human life, as though to a vampire, it was the sensation of death."

Caprice was furious at Skeals bossy attitude, her face had no expression.

Suddenly,

She rushed at the back of the counter in super speed, and clutched Skeals neck by her arm and said.

"Listen you little rabbit, you don't get to decide what we feed on, and whose impure blood we should not drink. I will make a hole in your neck and you will never find out, if you don't stay away from Ehremeus." Cap would have been able to turn her into a vampire, right that moment but flashes of Ehremeus's fleeting words appeared to her in the form of a vision; 'that she wasn't meant to harm an innocent human at any cost, atleast not in Tallor.'

"Let me go, you monster!" Skeal whined and there was sudden attention from the passerbys in that moment. Skeal brought her hands together and wavered the fingers in both her hands followed by flickering of fingers, and there was a smokey explosion of certain light magic that took place, Cap was where she stood outside of the stall and Skeal, inside. Cap watched Skeal close the lid of a vile.

"Heh! So you're a witch?" And suddenly, Cap felt immobilized from movement and reacted out of shock.

"What have you done to me." Cap shouted.

"For the most, I am not a witch. Just an ascending alchemist. And secondly, your kinds aren't the only beings with superiority in hunter tactics like that. I've have a fox tail journey and you wouldn't want to get in between me and my purpose, so before I make you burn to ashes, do not threaten me with your monster teeth and be gone from here without any malice." Skeal said to her in a rather calm tone.

"Yeah, I need your fairy chains to release me first, Miss Tinkerbell." Cap chuckeled sarcastically.

"Promise me you won't come close to me or this time I will call forward the sworn sword." Skeal raised her pendant up and uttered these words like a true Christian.

"Okay, I promise." Cap said as she was slowly released, and she vanished immediately. Skeal never saw her ever since.

That night after dusk and when night time arrived, skeals stall was shut. Cap decided to visit the Tavern in the night.

She called Ehremeus with her on her first day, and he agreed. She could never ever admit it to him in the fear that she could lose the bond they shared but she was somebody that loved him dearly.

He didn't get away from the old city that was now full of vampires to get away from her, but he was in the search for a much pleasant meaning for life.

"Wait..How did you find out I was knocked out?" Ehremeus asked as he turned his head to look at her while he spoke, he was fixing his attire.

"The old lady next door called my phone and she said you were found passed out and drunk on the road side but then realized you hadnt woken up in 2 days. That's how I rushed here." Cap said as she combed the ends of her brown and shiny hair.

As they made it outside the Tavern, it was just as she imagined. Bright and low light accents that highlighted the corners of the dimensions of the outside of the Tavern making it appear more 3D and lively.

There was noise from the slow music that was being played at the bar side.

She saw many elvian girls and boys around, and human dwarfs that looked young and lively, there were people that even did make up in blue as though it was Halloween, but it seemed as though that was the art of their sense of beauty. There were normal humans too, and Cap thought they were vampires.

Ehremeus and Cap sat on the chairs to witness such a weird and diverse hype in the middle of a forest. It was quite an enticing sight to see as they order drinks.

"So this fox girl Skeal, I wonder if she shows up here." Cap says as she places her hand on his lap and looks around.

"Why are you still wallowing about around her life. Cap I told you before. I don't want you to cause any senario here, I'm trying to earn an agreeable reputation and I don't want trouble with these mystical beings. It's not usual that a vampire may have a chance at being welcome into their realm of Institution. I'm practicing my noble ways and if you have other plans, you must leave this place at once. And do not bring up Skeals name again." He said and turned his head around from irritation and sipped his drink.

"Are you guys talking about Skeal Hamarima Sctole, the 6 foxtailed chibi?" Cap and Ehremeus were interrupted by an elvian stranger, she was somewhat pretty, petite and slim and her hair was long but so were her ears.

"She's a chibi?" Caps mouth enlargened and asked In disbelief.

"Well, in this notion, we call her one. But not only that, she built this marketplace. She's one of the richest people here, her father, who adopted her, owns so many harbouring magic trees. Legend has it, she fell down and down so deep only into the safe sounds of the abyss and with only pain and suffering from the human world, she was able to mend her dimensions together with just her emotions. There are rumours about her here, she is quite a legend. Even though she can be a total outcast and short-tempered....People say it is because, they do not know what worlds she went through."

The elvian explained as she drank her rainbow cocktail on this night.
