I watched Theron, shedding tears in the quiet, in the company of a hearty fire. Next to his cot I stood. I had watched the villagers being decimated from what seemed like the black plague I had read about from these times...
I didn't have anymore tears to cry, I was shell shocked. How did the human race survive this... No matter I pulled my attention back to Theron, as he slowly, with weighted breath, turned to me and tears fell as he said "you're no longer the Elian I knew..." he continued "I was glad when you started breathing again".
Then stillness... He turned back, closed his eyes and snuggled deeper so as to sleep. A rage took hold of me...
"How dare you!!"
"You failed me, you're all I had, you can't leave me here..." I turned him and grabbed at his upper cloth. "you owe me!" ... "you owe Elian, you useless corpse get up!!!"
The black mist surrounding the village gathered around me, I didn't care I already knew, the plague would get me as well. I wasn't prepared for this life, I understood my fate. Yet I yearned for Elian and his uncle, they were a hard working unit didn't complain and labored to death.
My past life wasn't extraordinary, I was just an accountant, in a public office, with my head buried in the ground... These two deserved a chance.
I hit Therons chest with all my meager strength and I watched as the black mist sipped into his corpse. He slowly got up, it took me awhile to notice.
Theron, radiating the black mist intensely turned and looked at me.
