Chapter 101 - Equipment

After comprehensive consideration, Osiris made the following arrangements.

Firstly, regarding information about his departure, he decided to strictly control it.

The fewer people who knew, the lower the risk of leaks and uncontrollable variables. He only needed to inform his proxy of the most basic information.

He summoned Morris.

A mechanical tentacle handed her a data slate, listing his core directives during his absence.

"I am about to conduct a critical, closed-door experiment," Osiris' voice was steady as usual, betraying no abnormalities. "The experiment cycle could last several weeks, or even longer.

During this period, the workshop will be completely sealed, prohibiting any unauthorized personnel from entering or disturbing it.

Your primary task is to guard the workshop entrance, enforcing the highest level of alert. Any attempt to force entry will be met with immediate elimination, no warning necessary."

"Understood, Master," Morris responded without hesitation, her system having recorded this absolute priority directive.

"Secondly, Maine's crew is free to operate during this time. They can undertake missions and gather resources independently, but they must not actively provoke large corporations in my name, unless they are attacked first.

Should they encounter a major crisis they cannot handle alone, you may, at your discretion, provide limited support, provided the workshop's safety is ensured. The specific extent is for you to judge based on the situation on site."

"Recorded. I will monitor their movements," Morris nodded.

"Finally, maintain surveillance on all factions in Night City, especially corporate movements. All abnormal activities are to be recorded and archived according to standard procedures. In an emergency, you may attempt to contact me via the reserved secondary communication link, but unless it's an extreme situation, do not expect to interrupt my experiment."

"Yes, Master. Your will shall be executed," Morris bowed deeply, indicating full understanding and acceptance of the task.

Osiris was satisfied with Morris's reaction; her loyalty had been tested, and her ability and judgment were sufficient to handle most conventional threats.

Her garrison workshop was enough to form an effective deterrent.

Keeping Maine's crew active would maintain their presence and intelligence sources on the streets, and also prevent them from developing unnecessary ideas due to idleness or becoming overly reliant on the workshop's protection.

Having dealt with these matters, Osiris' attention returned to the newly completed equipment.

He notified Maine, asking Dorio to come to the workshop to receive her custom weapon.

Soon after, Dorio arrived at the workshop, accompanied by Maine.

Osiris pointed to a support frame on one side of the workshop—a deeply modified set of combat equipment stood there.

Its basis was the "centaur" type tactical exoskeleton platform traded from Militech, but it was now unrecognizable.

The original frame, which only provided lower limb assistance, had been fully reinforced and expanded, forming a metal framework covering all major parts of the body.

The frame structure was robust, with heavy-duty designs at the joints, clearly intended to withstand immense power output.

A compact, high-output energy core was integrated into the back, powering the entire system.

The exterior of the exoskeleton was fitted with thick composite armor plates, primarily covering the torso, shoulders, and critical limb areas.

The armor plates displayed a dull metallic sheen, with a rough surface treatment, showing a clear utilitarian style, but their material and angle were precisely calculated to provide optimal protection.

Most striking were the weapons mounted on the arms.

Those were two precisely structured, astonishingly sized power gauntlets.

The gauntlets themselves were cast from high-strength alloy, with abnormally thick finger joints, and complex transmission mechanisms and energy conduits integrated within.

Subtle energy patterns were faintly visible on the gauntlet's surface, like dormant blood vessels, hinting at the dangerous power contained within.

"This equipment is based on the 'centaur' exoskeleton, with comprehensive reinforcement and functional integration," Osiris began to explain, his tone like describing a precision instrument. "It is now closer to a simplified power armor, providing the user with significant strength amplification and basic protection."

His mechanical finger pointed to the pair of power gauntlets: "The main attack units are these power gauntlets. They are not simple physical impact weapons. The integrated high-frequency vibration generators can transmit destructive energy to the target's internal structure at the moment of impact.

At the same time, they possess instantaneous energy release capabilities, generating a forward shockwave at the point of attack, further enhancing the destructive effect."

He paused briefly, adding the most crucial technical detail: "Furthermore, I have attached a localized disintegration field to the attack surface of the gauntlets. When the gauntlets hit a target with sufficient kinetic energy, the field will be activated, producing a molecular-level disintegration effect on the impacted area."

Osiris did not elaborate on the specific origin or principles of this technology, but it was undoubtedly a creation from the Warhammer Universe, beyond the understanding of this world.

"Put it on and perform basic adaptability tests," Osiris commanded. "I need to collect performance data in a combat environment."

Dorio looked at the powerful equipment, a fervent gleam in her eyes.

With Maine's assistance, she began to don the heavy power armor.

When the system activated and the energy core emitted a low hum, she could clearly feel an unprecedented sense of power surge from the core in her back, filling her limbs.

Under Osiris' guidance, Dorio performed simple movement adaptation and strength tests in the designated testing area within the workshop.

She swung her fists, creating whistling winds, and when they struck the thick metal target for testing, it was no longer a dull thud, but accompanied by a slight energy hum. The target material instantly shattered, and some areas even showed an abnormal disintegration, a terrifying effect as if eroded by an invisible force.

Even the reinforced Dorio needed a moment to adapt to this sudden, almost destructive power.

Maine watched from the side, his face showing both satisfaction at his teammate acquiring a powerful weapon and a hint of undisguised solemnity.

The technology their boss casually produced repeatedly refreshed their understanding of the upper limit of "power."

Osiris calmly recorded various data: energy output stability, gauntlet impact force, disintegration field activation threshold, recoil on the user, system continuous operating time... All this data would be used for subsequent equipment optimization and might also provide reference for the design of other types of melee weapons.

After the test was completed, Osiris expressed his approval of the data results.

"Basically, it meets the design expectations. In future actual missions, pay attention to collecting more usage feedback. Now, you can return to your stronghold. The workshop will undergo important upgrades soon, so do not approach unless summoned."

Maine and Dorio left the workshop with the new equipment and clear instructions.

They knew that their boss' "important upgrades" often meant another big move was coming, and what they needed to do was remain on standby and use this time to consolidate their new strength.

The workshop returned to silence once more.

Osiris walked to the main control console of the dimensional teleporter and began to input a series of complex coordinate parameters and energy calibration commands.

He needed to perform precise preheating and calculations for this long-range teleportation back to the Warhammer Universe.

His crimson optical lens locked onto the fluctuating energy readings, all external interferences and trivial matters temporarily excluded.

The next step was to return to the Forge World, formally obtain the position of Sage, and based on this, initiate the new phase of his plan.
