Chapter 3 - Warmly-cold

I put on my fancy vest coat and the long coat embroideried with silver lace, with the symbol of the Royal Academy.

I stood in front of the mirror and did a fit-check.

"Hm, still fits.. "

"Sir your essentials have been packed. Today you shall go to school after a long time, her grace has sent you her best wishes... " Issac spoke standing at the door.

I nodded and procceded.

He escorted me in a car till the school gate. I took a step out and breath in a heavy one.

I felt pale all over. I saw people talking, laughing and running. I walked in slowly... And all the gaze locked at me... Well that isn't new...

Some girls wispered amongst themselves while the other gaze a quick galnce.

" They probably think I'm wierd..." I thought to myself.

Then I heard a voice.

"Hello there,

-new here? "

He had bright smile ,a tinge of muffled orange-brown hair with eyes of the first ray of dawn...

I stood staring at his eyes for a sec–

"Ah-ck um, no" I hastily replied...

"Is it?, I haven't seen u around, which class you're in? " His voice was soft and he radiates warmth– my fevers doing wierd stuff now.

"Second year" I said.

"Oh, I'm a third— the names Kyle .

You've got quite the face! " He added subtly

"... Hm" I started down blankly confused at the interaction.

"Didn't make friends so far?"

"... Yeah... "

" Don't worry I'll help you out buddy"

Kyle walked beside me, hands in his coat pockets, humming something under his breath—

The distance between me and everyone else was the same as ever.

"So, Arvil," he said—he said my name like it wasn't something strange—"what do you like? Books? Music? Fighting demons in secret at night?"

I blinked. "…None of those.

Maybe the first one."

Kyle laughed softly, like summer grass swaying. "Good to know. I'll keep my demon-fighting schedule to myself then."

I didn't reply.

He kept walking beside me, even though he had no reason to. Even though he could've easily veered off to join his friends, who were already waving at him from the courtyard.

"Hey," one of them called out, "Kyle! Over here!"

Kyle raised his hand in acknowledgment and looked at me

"wanna join? "

"I'm sorry but thanks" I said —I've had enough human interactions today!

I faced the other side of corridor ready to walk off, then his hand tappedy shoulder-

"See u around.. "

I puased—he radiates warmth but his touch, it was cold–& sad?...

My dam fever, I thought...
