next day.
Kai waited until lunch to say it.
That alone made Ren uneasy.
They sat on opposite sides of the classroom, pretending not to know each other. Ren focused
on his notebook. Kai focused on absolutely nothing—until the bell rang.
Then he slid into the seat beside Ren like it was planned.
"I found something,"Kai said.
Ren didn't look up. "I don't care."
"Yousay that every time."
"And yet you keep talking."
Kai grinned. "Because it works."
Ren sighed. "What is it?"
Kai leaned closer, lowering his voice. "There's a bunker."
Ren finally looked at him.
"…A what?"
"An old underground bunker,"Kai said. "Left over from decades ago. Abandoned. Sealed. And
apparently—"
He paused for effect.
"—haunted."
Ren closed his notebook. "No."
Kai blinked. "I haven't even finished."
"No," Ren repeated. "I'm not going to some creepy place because you heard a rumor."
Kai tilted his head. "You'vebeen hearing things too, haven't you?"
Ren stood up.
Lunch was officially ruined.
[Rumors]
Kai didn't follow him immediately this time.
Instead, he waited.
That made it worse.
By the time classes ended, Ren had overheard whispers.
"Youknow that bunker near the hills?"
"People say their phones stop working there."
"Someone went missing for a night. Came back… weird."
Ren told himself it was coincidence.
He told himself a lot of things lately.
[After School — The Hook]
Kai caught up to him outside the school gates.
"Okay,"Kai said. "Hear me out. Then you can say no."
Ren stopped walking.
"Two minutes."
Kai raised a finger. "Progress."
"There's a bunker past the old service road,"Kai explained. "No cameras. No signals.
Everyone who goes near it feels sick or disoriented."
Generated with https://kome.aiRen frowned. "So why would we go there?"
Kai met his eyes.
"Because people like us react differently."
Ren felt that familiar pressure behind his eyes.
"…People like us?"
Kai hesitated. Just for a second.
"People who don't feel normal anymore."
Silence stretched between them.
Ren swallowed.
"…When?"
Kai smiled, relieved. "Tonight."
Ren immediately regretted asking.
[The Walk]
They didn't talk much on the way.
The road narrowed as they moved away from the city. Streetlights thinned. Trees pressed
closer.
Ren noticed something strange.
The farther they walked—
The lighter his chest felt.
"No headaches,"he muttered.
Kai glanced over. "Youfeel it too."
Ren stopped. "So you are experiencing things."
Kai didn't deny it. "Not like you. But enough."
They reached a rusted metal door half-buried in dirt and vines.
The bunker.
A warning sign hung crooked, its text faded.
Ren's phone buzzed—then went dark.
Kai checked his own.
"No signal," he said softly. "Told you."
The air felt… wrong.
Not cold.
Not warm.
Empty.
[The Threshold]
Kai reached for the door.
Ren grabbed his wrist.
"Wait."
Kai looked back. "Scared?"
Ren shook his head slowly.
"No," he said. "I feel like I've been here before."
The pendant in his pocket pulsed.
Once.
Generated with https://kome.aiTwice.
From deep underground—
Something shifted.
And far away, in a place beyond sight—
A fragment stirred.
The door didn't creak when Kai pushed it open.
That was the first wrong thing. Instead of stairs or rusted corridors, a cave opened up before them, wide, uneven, and far deeper than the bunker should have allowed. The walls weren't concrete anymore. They were stone, damp and dark, veins of faintly glowing mineral running through them like frozen lightning. Ren stepped inside. The door shut behind them on its own. "…That's not normal," Kai muttered. Ren didn't answer.
there were weird painting on wall. like trees growing in a really weird way. their parts were random. and coming out of a portal like thing. some people were breaking some of the part of that tree, very little part. in the next paintings, the entire area was covered with trees and then next there were no trees ren and kai couldn't understand a thing about that. before ren could focus on the next painting His eyes were fixed ahead.
At the center of the cave, resting on a natural stone pedestal, was a small crystal. It wasn't large. Not dramatic. But it felt heavy, like the air bent around it.
The pendant in Ren's pocket began to vibrate again.
"That thing…" Ren whispered. "It's calling." Kai swallowed. "Okay. That's officially supernatural." They moved closer, slow and careful. Every step echoed too loudly, as if the cave were listening. The crystal pulsed once, soft, dim. Ren reached out. And then, Plop. Something wet and heavy dropped onto Kai's shoulder. Kai froze. "…Ren," he said quietly. "Don't move." "I'm not." A thick, slimy substance slowly slid down Kai's sleeve. Kai let out a sharp breath. "Please tell me that's just cave goo. Then another drop fell. this time from above. Ren looked up. The ceiling wasn't empty. something was there. something bigger then them. something not hungry but protecting.
