Chapter 13: The Birth of Pandora — Kidnap It!
"Linlin, come here~" Roy called out as he sprinted out of the burning village, waving the Samla sweets in his hand like a lure.
Behind him, Linlin lifted her head and roared—a deep, guttural sound that shook the trees.
Roy was infuriating. Absolutely abominable. But in her half-conscious frenzy, what could she do but chase him?
Her enormous figure thundered forward, snow exploding beneath her steps as she swung wildly at him.
Each time her fist came down, Roy raised the Samla in front of him like a shield. Instinctively, Linlin hesitated, pulling back her hand to snatch for the treat instead.
Out of the corner of his eye, Roy spotted a group of giants rushing out of the village, pushing carts loaded high with Samla. Perfect timing.
He threw the last few pieces he had left high into the air. Linlin's eyes followed the falling sweets instantly, her hands reaching up greedily.
While she waited for them to drop, Roy turned and bolted away.
The pieces fell—Linlin opened her mouth wide, catching them in one bite. The cart arrived moments later, piled with more of the sugary confections.
"Samla!" she cried, diving into it like a beast unleashed.
She devoured everything. The pile dwindled in moments, each handful vanishing into her mouth until not a single crumb remained.
Finally, after swallowing the last piece, Linlin's body swayed, her eyes drooping. With a long exhale, she toppled backward into the snow and fell asleep.
"Roy, are you okay?" Gerd ran over, panting.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Roy said, waving off the concern.
"You're really something, man," Hajrudin said in awe.
Roy smirked. "Just a little better than you, that's all."
"Uh…" Hajrudin's expression darkened.
Gerd giggled behind her hand, amused by their bickering.
Though Roy had managed to lure Linlin away and limit the destruction, some buildings were still smoldering, and flames licked at what remained of the village's wooden houses.
As Roy returned to the village, he saw Sister Carmel standing before the flames in her dark blue habit, hands clasped in prayer. Her eyes were closed, lips moving in a whisper.
"GEBUR…"
The nun's hands glowed faintly.
"TSTAG!"
Her eyes snapped open, reflecting the inferno before her. "I will give you a voice."
The fire roared to life. From within the swirling blaze, a massive, distorted face emerged—grinning wickedly, flames forming the outline of a demonic smile.
"Listen… to me."
The nun's words carried through the crackling fire. The inferno shuddered, its chaotic energy focusing on her command.
"Your name is… Pandora!"
The fiery face let out a hiss, then shrank rapidly as it absorbed the surrounding flames. One by one, the fires around the village flickered and vanished, drawn into the newly born Homie.
Moments later, what remained was a tiny, round sun-shaped creature—glowing warmly, with little eyes and a smile.
"So cute!" one of the Sheep's House girls gasped.
"Squeak~"
Roy stepped closer, curious. He poked the little creature's cheek. "So this is a Homie, huh?"
He'd always wondered—after the nun's death, would her creations vanish? If they didn't... where did they go?
Could this be the same Pandora that would one day become Prometheus?
Well, whatever the case—he was already plotting to steal this adorable fireball.
"Ahem. Sister, it's really cute," Roy said, holding Pandora up with a grin.
The little sun squirmed, frowning. "Can I burn this annoying child, Sister?"
"Oh, be careful, Roy," Carmel said gently. "That's the embodiment of fire."
Roy only grinned wider. "I'm not afraid."
With Linlin's monstrous defense now his own, a tiny flame like Pandora was nothing to him. In fact, he was already thinking he could one day imitate Big Mom's fiery hair and make a grand entrance of his own.
"Let me go!" Pandora shouted, struggling. "Sister, this brat's bullying me!"
Roy laughed and tightened his grip.
"So cute, Little sun" Roy said.
The little sun's cheeks puffed up, eyes burning hotter. "Stop calling me little sun! I'm Pandora! P-A-N-D-O-R-A!"
Roy chuckled, patting him like a mischievous cat. "Sure thing, little sun."
Pandora's eyes flared in indignation. "Gahh!!"
Roy's hand glowed faintly, snuffing out his flames like pinching a candle. He smiled smugly and hugged him tighter.
"This kid…" The nun blinked in surprise. His defense really is on par with Linlin's.
She silently repeated their names in her heart. Roy… Charlotte Linlin.
The corners of her lips curved upward. These two children were treasures—her golden tickets. She could sell them for a fortune.
"Roy," she said sweetly, "your birthday is coming soon, isn't it?"
Roy tilted his head. Birthday? Oh right, the fake one he'd told her.
The nun was a liar and a trafficker—he'd known that from the start. He wasn't about to fall for her act.
"Yeah," he said, feigning innocence. "I've never had a birthday before. Will Sister celebrate with me?"
"Of course," she said, smiling warmly. "Sister loves Roy and Linlin the most. I'll prepare a big surprise for you both, alright?"
"Ah, thank you, Sister!" Roy said eagerly, holding up Pandora. "And I love Pandora the most! You're giving her to me, right?"
Carmela hid her smirk behind her hand. What a naïve child.
"Yes, yes," she cooed. "Roy is such a good boy. I'm so proud of you."
Both of them smiled—each thinking the other a fool.
The villagers worked to repair the damage from Linlin's rampage.
Linlin herself lay snoring peacefully in the snow, while Jorul stood over her with a new sword, frowning deeply.
He had survived—but for the first time, he doubted whether even his blade could pierce her monstrous body.
Redding sat nearby beside his disciple Hajrudin, both silent as they watched Roy happily tormenting Pandora.
They exchanged a look that said it all: Why does that brat make us feel like we're the useless ones here...?
Roy, meanwhile, continued to "play" with Pandora, his grin bright.
It didn't matter if he agreed or not—Pandora was a Homie made from the nun's soul. He obeyed his master's will.
All Roy needed to do was make it look like the nun had gifted Pandora to him before her eventual death.
Then, once Carmel was gone... he'd keep Pandora for himself.
And slowly, he would tame him.
