Chapter 11 - And So the Fairy Tale Exploded

Lin Xiaoxi wanted to take a nap at noon, so Shen Qing left.

"Beep beep!"

Outside the apartment complex, Shen Qing dialed Xu Mengyao's phone.

Xu Mengyao was abroad, so it was very late for her. But Shen Qing knew Xu Mengyao wouldn't be asleep right now.

Sure enough, the phone connected immediately.

"Shen Qing, what's going on?"

Xu Mengyao asked urgently.

Shen Qing laughed. "Mengyao, we were worried for nothing. Xiaoxi is probably doing even better with Lin Chen than before."

"The apartment complex Lin Chen rented is a high-end one. The apartment he rented is quite spacious and nicely decorated. It's big enough for you to live there, let alone the two of them."

Xu Mengyao said, annoyed, "Don't talk nonsense."

Shen Qing said, "Anyway, Xiaoxi is living very well. As for food, Xiaoxi eats much better now than we do."

"Impossible, right?"

Xu Mengyao said, puzzled.

They had money; their meals weren't bad.

"Didn't you say your dad investigated him before, Mengyao? Didn't he find out that Lin Chen is a superb cook? His cooking is at the level of a five-star hotel's head chef."

Xu Mengyao said in disbelief, "Are you kidding me? If he has such cooking skills, why isn't he a chef?"

The chef at a five-star hotel wouldn't be doing too badly.

"I wouldn't know."

"Anyway, the lunch I ate at his place today, all five dishes were delicious. My stomach is stuffed right now," Shen Qing said, rubbing her belly.

Xu Mengyao still found it hard to believe, "He didn't have any formal training, how could his cooking be so good?"

"Maybe it's a natural talent."

"Xiaoxi said her dad's cooking was the best, I thought she was just exaggerating, but it turned out to be true," Shen Qing sighed.

Speaking of which, Shen Qing paused. "Mengyao, Lin Chen didn't use the sixty thousand yuan. It's still in Xiaoxi's suitcase."

"Lin Chen told me to give it to you, but I didn't take it. You'll definitely go see Xiaoxi later, so you can take it yourself."

Xu Mengyao frowned slightly. "Why didn't he take it? The rent for the house he's renting probably isn't cheap."

"The rent is fifteen thousand a month."

"Lin Chen said that as Xiaoxi's father, he should be taking care of her, and he doesn't need your money."

"Mengyao, maybe Lin Chen isn't as ordinary as he seems." Shen Qing said.

Lin Chen gave her the impression of someone very confident.

Xu Mengyao said unhappily, "You're just being a pushover. You ate a meal and now you're speaking up for him."

"Didn't I ask you to take pictures? Did you take them?"

Shen Qing: "Yes, I'll send them to you later."

Soon, Xu Mengyao received the photos from Shen Qing.

"The living environment is actually quite good."

Xu Mengyao breathed a sigh of relief.

It seemed Lin Chen really cared for Lin Xiaoxi.

If Lin Xiaoxi was doing well, she could stay here for a few more days. She was a mother, but also a daughter.

Her mother had just been to death's door and back.

Two days passed without him noticing.

Lin Chen had completed three more translation jobs, earning over twenty thousand yuan.

He now had over seventy thousand yuan in his bank account.

"Host, your fairy tale creation ability has reached Grandmaster level."

The system's voice rang out in Lin Chen's mind.

In a week, he had told Lin Xiaoxi stories for twenty hours; ten hours made him a Master, and twenty hours made him a Grandmaster.

This has reached the world's top level.

"Another piece of good news."

A smile appeared on Lin Chen's face.

Half an hour ago, when he was teaching Lin Xiaoxi English, the system had reminded him that his German had reached a proficient level.

Now he knew English, French, and German, and he could simultaneously interpret all three foreign languages.

"Daddy, the story you told was so good."

Lin Xiaoxi whispered, lying next to Lin Chen.

"Daddy, can you tell me another story, please?"

"Okay," Lin Chen said with a smile.

He began a new story. He was only halfway through when Lin Xiaoxi, unable to stay awake, drifted off to sleep, her face sweet.

He leaned down and kissed Lin Xiaoxi. Afterwards, Lin Chen went to the study.

A fairy tale at the Grandmaster level... it's time to make some money from this.

Lin Chen thought to himself.

Even if he could earn several thousand or tens of thousands for a single translation, it was still too little. It would be difficult to earn enough to buy this house.

The children's market was huge, and there was a great demand for good fairy tales. Gaining fame and publishing books would earn far more than translating.

And this thing could generate continuous income if it became popular.

"Lin Yu!"

Lin Chen first registered a pen name for himself.

"Crack! Crackle!"

He quickly finished writing a thousand-character fairy tale. He uploaded this fairy tale to Tongxin Net, a newly registered fairy tale platform.

Tongxin Net was the largest fairy tale platform in the country, providing online reading. If something became popular, editors would contact the author for publication.

After uploading one, Lin Chen continued writing.

He wasn't just aiming to sell one or two stories. He wanted to write more, build up his reputation, and then directly publish his work.

Xu Xiao is an editor at Tongxin Net.

Tongxin Net is the largest fairy tale platform in the country, but this industry is lucrative, and now Tongxin Net is also facing considerable pressure.

Their editors need to find good stories to recommend.

This is how they can attract more users.

With more users, they can naturally retain more good authors.

"What is all this even written about!"

Xu Xiao frowned; she hadn't come across many good ones all day.

This industry is now a mixed bag, with too much garbage.

"Lin Yu... a new author."

Xu Xiao read the piece written by Lin Chen.

My dear, there's more to this chapter! Please click 'next page' to continue reading, it gets even better!

"Hmm?"

After reading it once, she read it again carefully. Excitement flashed in her eyes. As a professional editor, she could tell this was definitely a top-tier work.

"Chief Editor, I've found an Immortal Herb."

Xu Xiao quickly called the Chief Editor.

She had the authority to recommend, but her recommendation wasn't as good as the Chief Editor's.

"Really?"

"Editor-in-chief," Chen Wenhan said with delight.

"Editor-in-chief, perhaps even more than that."

"I feel this fairy tale could be around for a hundred years."

Xu Xiao said.

Chen Wenhan was at home. He quickly turned on his computer, and after reading it, he felt the same as Xu Xiao.

This fairy tale story had the potential to last for a hundred years.

"Eh—"

Chen Wenhan discovered that Lin Yu had updated again.

"Great, this is fantastic!"

Chen Wenhan was ecstatic after finishing the second story.

He felt this story was even better than the first one.

"Editor-in-Chief, have you read the second story? Lin Yu is definitely a top-tier author! Aren't you going to give them a recommendation? Don't let them get away," Xu Xiao called Chen Wenhan again.

"Right away!"

Chen Wenhan immediately arranged for the best possible recommendation.

"Only a dozen people have read it, that's too few. But they all gave it a perfect score, so the ratings are pretty good."

Lin Chen murmured to himself.

After uploading the second story, he checked the results of the first one.

A mere dozen clicks – it was a dismal showing.

"Let's keep going."

Lin Chen continued to write.

He had a lot of stories in his mind. Each story was about a thousand characters long, and he could easily write three in an hour.

Tonight, he'd aim for ten.

Once he had twenty or thirty stories, he could release a children's book.

"Above Immortal Herb, really?"

"The editor actually gave this kind of evaluation, let's take a look."

"Reaching the Immortal Herb level is already pretty good."

Chen Wenhan arranged for a recommendation, and soon many people clicked in.

There are many people looking for stories on Tongxin Net every night. This time of day is the peak traffic period for the website.

"Indeed above Immortal Herb, Lin Yu is amazing."

"Full marks, no explanation needed!"

"I'll tell my kid these two stories tomorrow night, haha!"

The comment section quickly filled with messages.

Three hours passed.

"Phew!"

Lin Chen finished writing eight more stories in one go, uploading them one by one would be a hassle, so he planned to upload them all at once.

"What's going on?"

Lin Chen was stunned when he opened the website.

Both fairy tales had surpassed fifty thousand clicks, with thousands of comments.

This was a direct explosion!
